Chapter 123 - Taken by the Hurricane

Dawn broke, the sun just beginning to peek over the horizon, as a large bus sped down the interstate.

Cade Eagle was beside himself with worry, pushing the vehicle's accelerator to its limit. Three hours earlier, he'd received calls from both the New York City Police Department and Midtown High School: his daughter, Tessa, had been kidnapped by Lizardmen.

Due to the chaos caused by the Lizardmen, the police and the school only notified him twelve hours after Tessa's abduction.

Upon receiving the calls, Cade felt his world crumble. He was utterly lost, his hands trembling so badly he could barely hold his phone. As a single father, he'd poured his heart and soul into his daughter. That he hadn't completely broken down yet was a testament to his strength.

"Cade, calm down. The Lizardmen won't hurt Tessa; they need her to create the Lizard Serum. Tessa's smart; she knows how to protect herself."

Professor Connors was also deeply distressed. He'd only just learned that Tessa Eagle was Cade's daughter, and that his Lizard Serum had endangered her.

Even now, he regretted teaching Tessa and Gwen how to make the serum.

"Let me drive, Cade. We're going to attract the attention of the state troopers patrolling the highway if you keep driving like this."

Eclipse looked at Cade, whose mental state was extremely poor, and said:

They couldn't withstand a police search right now. The bus was packed with menacing-looking Latino men, who clearly weren't good people. The luggage compartment of the bus was also filled with guns and various crude cold weapons.

Cade had excellent relationships with the people on the farm. When the assassins were first brought to the farm, he didn't treat them as slaves to be exploited. Instead, he suggested that Broly improve everyone's treatment and taught them the farm work himself. This prompted everyone to stand up and offer their help to Cade after learning that Tessa had been kidnapped.

Cade nodded bitterly. He understood the principle of "more haste, less speed." He found a place to park and handed the steering wheel to Eclipse.

Kakarot was sleepily munching on a large piece of braised beef, her head bobbing, almost falling into the plate. She was still young and easily sleepy.

"Still can't get through to the boss?"

Cade sat in the passenger seat. Before heading to New York, they had tried to contact Broly, but the phone wouldn't connect.

"No, but the people we left at the farm will inform Mr. Broly of the situation. You don't have to worry so much."

Professor Connors said. Some of the assassins in the farm hadn't been injected with the animal serum, and they remained there.

Cade was still worried. In the videos circulating online, that Lizardman was clearly different from the others. He seemed to have mutated, becoming much stronger than his kind.

Kakarot perked up the moment she heard Broly's name, wiping her greasy mouth with her small hands, her big eyes darting around alertly.

"Broly! Has Broly returned?"

Cade's mouth twitched, and he shook his head. Kakarot sighed in disappointment and continued to eat the beef on her plate, half-asleep.

If it weren't for Broly's absence, Kakarot would be the strongest in the farm. Cade would never have brought Kakarot along otherwise. In his eyes, Kakarot was still just a child and shouldn't be on the battlefield.

Unfortunately, the other Lizardmen assassins could be easily dealt with. Only that so-called Colonel Johnson was too powerful, and only Kakarot was confident in defeating him.

After an unknown amount of time, they were finally nearing New York. Most of the traffic they encountered was leaving the city, with only a few vehicles heading in their direction.

Neither the military nor the New York City Police Department could do anything about the Lizardmen hiding in the sewers.

A killer who had fused with the Golden Eagle gene grew golden-brown feathers, transforming into a huge Golden Eagle in a matter of breaths. He hung a cell phone around his neck with a lanyard and quietly flew out of the window, soaring upwards like an arrow, into the high sky.

The New York City Police Department and the military were secretly increasing their lockdown of New York City. After flying into the air, he could use the extraordinary eyesight of an eagle to spot the patrol cars in advance and provide a warning.

Under the warning, Eclipse bypassed the constantly patrolling police cars and entered New York City. These police officers would never have imagined that the eagle in the sky had completely exposed their movements.

The car stopped in a remote slum, and everyone took out the weapons in their luggage. A series of sounds of gun slides being pulled back, the killers inserted magazines and switched off the safety.

Some killers carried tens or even hundreds of kilograms of heavy cold weapons on their shoulders. After injecting the animal serum, some killers could easily swing these heavy cold weapons with one hand. The power they could unleash in their beast form with one arm exceeded three tons.

Ordinary people might barely be able to lift the weight of these weapons with both hands, but wanting to wield them would be a pipe dream.

Practical cold weapons would not be too heavy. Long swords and single-edged knives usually weigh around a kilogram, and even iron maces for piercing armor would only weigh three to four kilograms.

These heavy, cold weapons were all crafted by Cade on a lathe for the assassins. He never expected the first time they'd draw blood would be to save his daughter.

"Let's go!"

Eclipse commanded. All the assassins transformed into their animal forms, looking like a group of furry and horned monsters at first glance.

A killer who had merged with a North American Grey Wolf, his head now a wolf's head, was the first to jump into the sewer. His sense of smell was the sharpest, able to distinguish the scent of the Lizardmen from the air. The others followed closely behind, and even Cade followed with an automatic rifle. Only the assassin who had transformed into a Golden Eagle circled in the air, monitoring the situation on the ground.

"What do you think?"

Eclipse, who had injected himself with the serum of a Saltwater Crocodile, surveyed the sewer, his body covered in scales.

"I haven't smelled Miss Tessa, but there's a faint scent of Lizardmen. They were here recently."

The werewolf sniffed, his nose twitching. After merging with the alien genes, the host usually displayed abilities far exceeding those of the original gene donor. His sense of smell was thousands of times stronger than that of a North American Grey Wolf. The unique scent of the Lizardmen, a mix of human and lizard, couldn't escape his nose, especially with Professor Connors as a reference.

"This way."

He moved swiftly, following the scent, his light footsteps making no sound. The others followed closely behind. Professor Connors even carried the exhausted Cade on his back.
