"Don't," Elena said softly, stepping beside Damian. "If you kill him, you're no better than he is."
Damian's jaw tightened, his finger twitching on the trigger. For a long moment, silence hung heavy in the room.
Finally, he lowered the gun. "You're going to prison, Viktor," he said coldly.
Police sirens wailed in the distance as Damian's team restrained Viktor. Elena exhaled shakily, relief flooding her body.
But as they walked outside, the weight of everything crashed down on her. She turned to Damian, tears in her eyes. "What happens now?"
He cupped her face gently. "Now we rebuild," he said. "If you'll have me by your side."
Elena searched his eyes, her heart aching with love and fear. "I don't know if I can trust you," she whispered.
"Then let me earn it," Damian said softly.
