Chapter 2 - 002 Where Am I...?

A young man was sleeping peacefully in his bed, his eyes closed while his black hair swayed gently against the wind from the window.

The room he's in was shabby at best. It was damp, with the only window being partially closed, a murky rotten smell permeating through the room.

Right beside the side of the bed was a desk, with a broken laptop on top. To the left of the bed was a small table with a pair of chairs.

As a cool breeze of wind whizzed past him, his eyes stirred. With a frown, he slowly opened his eyes, his irises deep blue, like the deep ocean.

He slowly sat up on the bed, rubbing his brows in a low grunt. "Where…?" he mumbled, his voice coarse. As if he hasn't spoken for a long time.

He then looked around the room, his brows creasing further at the unfamiliarity of the room. "Where am I…?"

Pushing his feet to the ground, the man slowly stood, his gaze fixed at the window. With a slow but a deliberate step, the man walked forward, but just then,

"SOLDIER! DUCK!!"

The man flinched as he heard a yell from behind. Ducking to his knees, he raised his arms, shielding himself.

"...What?" The young man was confused. He slowly stood up. A sudden thirst for water hit his throat, but he ignored it.

Shaking his head, the man continued walking to the table when he heard a female voice once more, "Brother, stay safe!"

The man snapped his face, looking at what he thought was the source of the voice, but no one except him was here.

"What is happening…?" The man mumbled as he hurried over, the voices following him like ghosts.

"Brother, I'll definitely get promoted and come back as your superior officer! Hahaha!" Said a young, youthful voice.

"Dear, can't you stay? Why should you go?! Please stay!" Please, pleaded a motherly voice.

"Hmph! He's my son! He's my pride! He will take lives or give his life for this nation!" Exclaimed a stern one.

"Aggghhh! Stop!" Screamed the young man, falling into the chair as he clutched his head, an intense pain coursing through it. He felt as if he was being hit by a chisel.

The pain lingered for quite a while, his movement slowing down with each passing minute, and by the time the pain retreated, he was still.

DRIP

A single tear fell on the dry table, followed by another, and then another, and then another. The young man clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms. "M-Mom…" he muttered with gritted teeth, his deep blue eyes shining with desperation.

Desperate for a chance to see his mother one more time. To meet his family one more time. But that…wasn't possible anymore.

The man continued to cry, his shoulders shuddering against the weight of what had happened to him, yet there was nothing he could do. Nothing could have helped him in that moment.

It took him almost an hour to stop himself from crying, but still then, his eyes had lost their dull shine. He leaned back into his chair, his gaze lifeless as he turned to the window, looking outside.

His gaze fell on the thousands walking across the streets, each in their own life, each in their own worlds. He watched them for a few minutes before he turned to the buildings.

Each building was taller than the other, each more pristine and opulent than the other. Normally, one would have killed for this view, but for him, this was dull. The buildings felt colorless to him. The people were colorless. The entire world has lost its color.

But then, something caught his eyes. His dead eyes stirred. In the edges of his vision, far beyond the tall buildings, was another one. Except, this was different.

Unlike the unfamiliar buildings surrounding him, he felt as if he knew this one. The design and the name of the building. He saw it somewhere.

"Where?" The man mumbled as he tried to think of Where he saw the building, skimming through the broken memories he had. And then an image flashed in his mind.

The image of him sitting in a movie theatre, cheering loudly as the movie titles played on the screen.

"N-No way…."

THUMP

The chair fell on the floor with a loud thump as the man rose abruptly. His hand trembled while a look of shock stirred his deep blue eyes.

With a gulp, the man looked at the spot once more, sure enough, the building was there. Not wasting a second, the man barged out of the room, banging the door closed.

Walking down the stairs as his heart banged against his chest, the young man exited the building, joining the river of crowd.

BADUMP

The young man squinted his eyes, the sun was too bright, today. With a dazed look the man walked towards the direction of the building, wanting to confirm it in person.

The implications were too dire to not to.

Bumping into a few men, he earned some spats from the crowd, but he ignored them. Walking and walking until he reached the building.

BADUMP

His heart thumped, standing in front of it. It was taller than any other, with a distinct design that stood put from the rest, especially with the name that's etched on it—STARK

The young man's chest caved, his breathing becoming erratic while his pupils dilated. He took a step back, and then another, until he bumped into another pedestrian, a woman.

"Hey! Watch where you're going! Jerk!" The woman spat, a small mobile phone pushed against her ear.

But the man instead, "I-Is this Tony Stark's building…?" his voice was low, almost doubtful.

"Yes! It is! Now get out of my way!" The woman yelled as she continued walking, joing the river of crowd.

The man stood still, the woman's answer ringing in his ears. There was no Stark Tower in his world.

Actually, there is but that's…

"In Marvel…" the man muttered, his face a blank slate.

"I'm in Marvel…"
