Seraphina's POV

Breakfast was a nightmare.

I stared at my eggs like they held the secrets of the universe, anything to avoid looking at Adrian after this morning's bathroom disaster. My face still burned thinking about it.

Moon Goddess, why did these things always happen to me?

The dining room was dead quiet except for Albert fussing over Adrian's coffee and the maids tiptoeing around like they were afraid to breathe too loud. Adrian sat there like a freaking ice sculpture, completely ignoring me. Fine by me. I was ignoring him right back.

But I kept sneaking looks at little doll sitting opposite to me. Even her mannerism and actions where like the infuriating make next to me. She sat so straight and proper, cutting her toast into perfect little squares. She even chewed the same number of times for each bite.

What five-year-old eats breakfast like they're at a business meeting?
