Chapter 48 - Too much pink?

Seraphina's POV

The woman stared at me for a long moment, her blue eyes wide with shock. "How did you know?" she whispered.

I shrugged, trying to look casual. "Lucky guess."

The dog barked again, making the woman shiver and grip my arm even tighter. I looked down at the dog, and it barked once more, its message clear in my mind: Move it, lady! This blonde's mine to terrorize!

I gave the dog my best 'try me' stare. "Go away."

What followed was the most intense stare-down. Me versus fifty pounds of attitude. The dog's eyes narrowed. I didn't even blink. Then his ears drooped like deflated balloons. He let out the most pathetic whimper I'd ever heard, spun around, and bolted with his tail between his legs.

After all, a dog can make all the noise it wants—but even the boldest mutt knows it's no match for a wolf.

"What just happened? Did you... did you just speak to a dog and it listened?"

I bit back a grin. "Maybe he just got bored."
