Seraphina's POV
Alicia snuggled closer, holding her pink rabbit in one hand while holding my sleeve with another. As I read, I did all the voices—the sweet, innocent Red Riding Hood, the gruff woodcutter, and of course, the Big Bad Wolf with an exaggerated growl that made Alicia giggle.
"'What big eyes you have, Grandmother!'" I read in Red Riding Hood's voice.
"'All the better to see you with, my dear,'" I growled in my best wolf impression.
Alicia giggled, her eyes sparkling with delight.
"'What big teeth you have, Grandmother!'"
"'All the better to eat you with!'" I made a playful snapping motion with my teeth, and Alicia squealed with laughter.
I was halfway through the story when the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. For some reason, I felt that unmistakable feeling of being watched. It prickled across my skin like static electricity.
I glanced up sharply at the doorway. There was nothing there, just an empty hallway bathed in dim light.
Weird.
