Adrian's POV
Her breath caught in her throat, horror washing over her features like a wave crashing against rocks. I knew it was a lot to take in, after all, no one would feel good if they suddenly got the news that their mother was a victim.
"Can you tell me more about her?" she asked.
I nodded. "I don't know much about her, but I will tell you what I have heard from others. Your mother's name was Elena, and she was a human."
For a second, I saw Seraphina stiffen beside me. She looked shocked. "My mother was a human?!"
I nodded, my expression grave. "Yes."
I paused, watching her carefully, giving her a moment to absorb this information before continuing. "Once, Lucian had gone into the human world, where he met Elena and instantly fell for her beauty. He wanted to bring her back with him, but she refused. She was already happily married."
I saw the pain flicker across her face, as if she knew what the next part of that story was going to be.
"Should I continue?"
