Chapter 156: The Messenger of Elation
Five Doomsday Beasts. This number plunged everyone into a brief silence. One could easily destroy a city. Five appearing simultaneously…
"So..." Stelle suddenly understood, "Those Voidrangers... they were bait from the very beginning. The real killing blow… are those five Doomsday Beasts."
"This is the second joke," Orion said, looking at the dark shadows approaching Belobog. "Making the prey think they've escaped, while they've always been in the hunter's palm."
"...What a vicious joke," March 7th said angrily. "Damn it! I must find the mastermind and give him a good beating!"
"We need to get back quickly…" Orion turned and shouted to the Silvermane Guards below. "Everyone, return to Belobog immediately! Quick!"
The group frantically rushed towards their camp. "We're too far from the city," Dan Heng calculated. "At their speed, they'll arrive before us."
"Then run faster!" March 7th gritted her teeth. "Bronya and the others are still in the city!"
…
Outside Belobog, in the void, Asat Pramad admired his masterpiece. The first joke: burying the future with history. The second joke: forging despair with hope.
"What a spectacular performance," he praised softly. "Especially you, Orion… you didn't disappoint me. So, facing five Doomsday Beasts, what kind of act can you put on now?"
He watched with keen interest as the monsters flew towards Belobog.
"All Silvermane Guards, take your positions immediately!" Cocolia's voice echoed throughout the city. "Protect our home!"
The snowmobiles sped across the ice, and Orion and the others finally rushed back. By this time, the five Doomsday Beasts were already approaching the city's edge.
"What's the situation?" Orion asked as he entered the command center.
Bronya pointed at the map, her expression grave. "Five beasts. One approaching from the east, south, and west. North… there are two. And the front line reports that the two in the north are the most violent."
Orion scanned the map. If they concentrated their strength, the other beasts would destroy the city. If they dispersed…
"We must divide our forces," Orion said in a deep voice.
"We don't have enough people!" Seele frowned.
"No choice," Orion said unequivocally. "We must stop them outside the defensive line."
"The Eastern Ice Plain is ours," Dan Heng was the first to speak. "We have experience dealing with Doomsday Beasts."
"The Southern Valley is our responsibility," Bronya immediately chimed in. "Gepard, gather the Guards. Seele, you and I will find Svarog and Wildfire."
"And the west and north…" Cocolia looked at the map, her brows tightly furrowed.
Just then, a frivolous voice rang out. "Oh dear, oh dear, it seems everyone has run into big trouble."
Everyone turned to see a blue-haired man at the entrance. "Sampo?" Seele frowned. "This isn't the time for you to do business!"
"Who said I'm here to do business?" Sampo spread his hands, a carefree smile on his face. "Old Sampo, I'm here to help."
"You?" a Silvermane Guard at the door sneered. Two others moved to block him. "Unauthorized personnel, do not cause trouble!"
"Oh?" Sampo's smile became somewhat dangerous.
Bang bang bang! A series of impacts sounded, and before the three guards saw what happened, they were sent flying backward. Sampo hadn't even moved. The weapons of the remaining guards flew from their hands and embedded themselves in the ceiling.
"This level won't stop a Doomsday Beast, you know," Sampo said casually.
"Enough," Cocolia stopped the commotion, her sharp gaze scrutinizing him. "Who exactly are you?"
"Just an ordinary citizen who loves this city," Sampo shrugged. "If Belobog is gone, where will I do business?"
"Mother," Bronya gently reminded her, "we don't have many choices left."
"If you fail, or desert…" Cocolia said coldly.
"Then you can certainly put a bounty on me after the battle," Sampo spread his hands. "Of course, that's assuming we're all still alive."
Cocolia looked at him deeply and finally nodded. "The Western Highlands, I'm entrusting it to you."
"No need for support," Sampo said, already walking out. "You should save your manpower. Although I didn't retrieve my mask, one Doomsday Beast… I should be more than enough on my own."
Before leaving, Sampo looked back at the worried crowd and clapped his hands. "Smile, everyone, don't be so worried." His gaze slid from the others, finally resting on Orion's face with a hint of playful amusement. "After all, Belobog isn't that easy to destroy… right?"
