Chapter 157: Too Stylish for a Battlefield
Now, only one battlefield remained. "North…" Everyone's gaze turned to that position on the map. Two Doomsday Beasts, and the most berserk ones at that.
"I'll go myself," Orion was the first to speak.
"What?!" Bronya grew anxious. "You alone? Orion, those aren't Fragmentum creatures, but two genuine Doomsday Beasts!"
"No!" Seele immediately stepped forward. "I absolutely disagree!"
"Besides me, who else—"
Before Orion could finish, the command center door was pushed open. "Did you forget about me?" an elegant voice sounded.
Everyone turned to see a vibrant red-haired woman leaning against the doorframe, holding a large suitcase, a confident smile on her lips.
"Eh? Big Sis Himeko?!" March 7th looked at her in surprise. "Why are you here?"
"At such a critical moment, how could I not come to help?" Himeko walked in.
"Where's Mr. Yang?" Stelle asked. (Note: Stelle often refers to Welt as 'Mr. Yang')
"The Express needs a helmsman," Himeko explained. "He's up there using the railgun to support Belobog, slowing down those Doomsday Beasts as much as possible."
"As expected of you two! So reliable!" March 7th exclaimed.
"I can support one battlefield," Himeko said. "How do you plan to arrange it?"
"I'll go North," Stelle suddenly interjected. "Orion and I will go together. Big Sis Himeko, I'll leave the East to you."
The scene fell silent. Himeko glanced at a slightly blushing Stelle, then turned her gaze to Orion, her smile deepening. "Oh? This must be the Orion that Stelle talks about all the time?"
"Big Sis Himeko!" Stelle's face instantly turned crimson.
March 7th immediately leaned closer to Himeko. "He's handsome, right? What do you think of this match?"
Himeko crossed her arms, seriously scrutinizing Orion. "Hmm, indeed, a talented and extraordinary individual… I approve."
Stelle had completely given up.
"Since that's the case," Cocolia quickly made a decision. "The Eastern Icefield will be handled by Himeko, March 7th, and Dan Heng. The Northern Dead Zone…" She looked at Orion and Stelle. "You must both return alive."
"Don't worry," Orion nodded, glancing at Stelle. "With her here, we'll be fine."
Stelle puffed out her chest. "Leave it to me!"
"Time is short. We depart in five minutes!"
Four teams set off in four different directions. Above Jarilo-VI, Asat Pramad looked down with interest. "Dividing forces? An interesting choice. However, in the face of absolute power disparity, courage is merely a poison that prolongs suffering."
On the way to the Northern Dead Zone, Orion broke the silence. "Why did you come with me?"
"…My intuition told me I couldn't let you go alone," Stelle said without looking at him. "That's all."
Orion was silent for a moment, then softly said, "Thank you."
At this moment, the two Doomsday Beasts ahead roared and attacked!
Orion held his black sword. His [Lord Ravager] entry was already Gold-tier. Among Destruction Pathstriders, he was in the strongest tier. Dealing with Doomsday Beasts should not be a problem. I might as well use them for practice.
"Remember how to deal with them?" Orion asked Stelle.
"Of course," Stelle grinned. "Just beat them to death!"
"Then you go right, we'll each take one."
"Okay! Orion, want to see who can take them down faster?"
"Nah, I'm afraid you'll lose too badly."
Before his words faded, Orion's figure vanished, instantly traversing hundreds of meters to appear before the Doomsday Beast on the left. The black sword in his hand seemed to swallow all light, condensing the purest concept of destruction.
No fancy techniques. Only absolute, unreasonable violence—one sword, struck down!
Chii—
Space seemed to be sliced open by a sharp blade, a pitch-black fissure running across the Doomsday Beast's body. Its heavy armor, strong enough to withstand a starship's main cannon, was as fragile as paper, silently disintegrating! The Doomsday Beast let out a delayed roar of terror.
But Orion gave it no chance. The second sword, thrust out! The black sword tip precisely plunged into the frantically beating antimatter engine in its core.
Time seemed to stand still. There was no explosion, only a deathly silence. A black dot appeared in the center of the beast, rapidly expanding, pulling and devouring its flesh, armor, and energy.
Boom—!
With a muffled implosion, the Doomsday Beast completely disintegrated from within, turning into billions of dust particles. From start to finish, it took but an instant.
"Wh-what?!" Stelle, who was still contending with the other Doomsday Beast, was dumbfounded. She hadn't even swung her first bat, and Orion's side… was already over?
Orion looked at the remains, somewhat surprised himself. He hadn't expected them to be… this easy. Are the Doomsday Beasts too weak, or… am I too overpowered?
