Chapter 176: General Yueyu
Months later, one night, a golden arrow of light pierced through the sky. In the cell, Saran suddenly trembled. "A shooting star! It's a shooting star!" She vigorously shook you awake. "Look! It's a shooting star that can grant wishes!"
You saw the light—no, that wasn't a shooting star.
"I smell freedom," Saran said excitedly. "Let's escape tonight!" You also had a premonition that something big was about to happen.
That night, you easily cut open the prison door's lock with your Mystic Eyes. "How did you do that…?" Saran's eyes widened.
"No time to explain, let's go!"
According to the plan, Jiang Li and Neergul created a diversion. You and Saran silently dealt with the guards, but the commotion quickly attracted more Borisin. The four of you ran wildly, but were soon surrounded.
Jiang Li did not cry out. She tightly hugged the trembling Neergul. "Brother, run! Take Sister Saran with you! Don't worry about us! Go to the shooting star!"
You walked in front of them, protecting them. "I told you…" Black lines spread across your eyes. "No one can touch my sister." Mystic Eyes—Full Power!
You charged into the enemy formation, the broken blade in your hand becoming the Grim Reaper's scythe. Every swing precisely traced a "death line." The bodies of the Borisin, their weapons, and even their armor disintegrated like rotten wood. In the blink of an eye, all the pursuers turned into ashes.
"Bro-brother…" Jiang Li excitedly pounced over. "Brother is so amazing!"
"I'll explain later," you rubbed your throbbing temples. "Let's escape first."
The four continued to run. In the distance, the golden shooting star had transformed into countless arrows of light. Just then, a figure descended from the sky, blocking your path. It was a female general wearing Cloud Knights armor.
"Don't be afraid," she said gently. "I'm here to save you."
"You are…?" Saran looked wary.
"The General of the Xianzhou Yaoqing, Yueyu." She looked at the four disheveled children with pity. "That place has already been destroyed by the Emperor Bow's arrows of light."
"Emperor Bow?"
"The Hunt's arrows," Yueyu explained, "shot to destroy hopeless places."
"Your ability to escape shows that you are very strong," she continued. "Especially you two—" she looked at Saran and you. "You are war slaves, aren't you?"
Saran was startled. "How did you know…?"
"The marks on your necks. And the scars on your bodies."
"Especially you," Yueyu looked at you. "Those Borisin, you killed them, didn't you?"
"Mm… it was me."
Yueyu nodded thoughtfully. Her gaze swept over the four of you. "Where are your families?"
"They were all killed by the Borisin…" Jiang Li whispered.
Yueyu was silent for a moment. "Then, are you willing to come with me? I can train you and make you stronger. Strong enough to protect those you want to protect, strong enough to take revenge."
"I'm willing!" Saran said without hesitation.
"I want to get stronger too!" Jiang Li raised her small hand. "I want to protect Brother!"
You looked at your sister's determined eyes. "Then I'll go too."
"I-I too… I don't want to be a slave anymore…" Neergul said timidly.
Yueyu revealed a relieved smile. "Very good. From today onwards, you are no longer slaves. Let's go to the Xianzhou Yaoqing. There, you will gain new life."
Before boarding the star skiff, Saran took one last look back. In the distance, the golden arrows of light consumed everything. That place of suffering had disappeared forever.
At 13 years old, you arrived at the Xianzhou Yaoqing and joined the Cloud Knights.
When distributing equipment, Saran held the brand new armor, silent for a long time. "I want to change my name," she suddenly said. "The name Saran carries too much suffering."
"Then what do you want to be called?" Jiang Li asked curiously.
Saran looked up at the sky. "Feixiao. I want to fly higher than the sky, so that all my enemies look up to me."
"Good name!" Jiang Li clapped her hands. "Sister Feixiao, that sounds really nice!"
Feixiao—smiled for once. It was the brightest smile you had seen from her. "Thank you… thank you for always being with me."
