After the marriage ceremony, Yichen and Zhaoyan spent a quiet week in Yichen's mother's hometown, surrounded by family warmth and the calmness of the countryside. When the week passed, they returned to the city. Life quickly shifted back to routine, and Yichen's exams began.
Late at night, he sat at his desk, notes spread open, eyes fixed on the pages. The room was silent until the door creaked softly. Zhaoyan walked in, carrying a glass of warm milk. He set it gently on the table, then leaned down to wrap his arms around Yichen from behind. His voice was soft, coaxing.
"Let's go to sleep. It's too late already."
Yichen didn't look up, still reading, his pen tapping lightly on the notebook. "Tomorrow is my exam. I need to study more."
Zhaoyan sighed, resting his chin on Yichen's shoulder. "If you don't sleep early, you'll be late for the exam tomorrow."
