Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: The Four Freaks of the Zombie Army

As Gecko Moria pressed his interrogation, a great number of zombies, totaling over a thousand, surged from the surrounding houses and soft ground! They each held weapons, had varying appearances, and all silently stared at Victor and his two companions.

But even this sea of thousands of zombies couldn't compare to the terrifying oppressive aura emanating from Gecko Moria himself! Facing this monstrous giant, shaped like an ancient demon, Victor felt a stinging sensation on his exposed skin, understanding that it was due to the substantial pressure of Moria's aura!

This was one of the 'Seven Warlords of the Sea,' with a former bounty of 320 million Beli, the terrifying 'King of Zombies,' Gecko Moria!

Facing the malicious 'multiple-choice question' posed by Gecko Moria, Victor slowly stood up, and the wide zipper chair behind him disintegrated and melted back into the ground.

"Don't underestimate people, Gecko Moria."

Victor said, hands in his pockets, enunciating each word: "As a leader (father), how can you command respect if you can't protect your subordinates?"

Gecko Moria suddenly lost interest and sat back in front of the large clock, yawning languidly: "Tsk... these little lambs are quite ambitious, aren't they? What a bother... Hey, you guys, go deal with him for me!"

"Yes, Master!" The cadres around Gecko Moria responded in unison.

The old scholar with thick-bottomed glasses looked at the other cadres: "Who's going to do it? I'm in a hurry to prepare medicine for Master Moria. Let's draw straws, you little rascals!"

"Fffss! Fffss! Fffss! I'm a genius doctor! Doctors don't kill people, right, Cindry?" The grotesque doctor, with a round body but two stick-like legs, asked with a smirk to the zombie maid who walked beside him.

The top-hatted lion-faced man roared loudly: "I don't care who does it, but leave that beautiful lady in the kimono! I want to marry her!"

The red-haired brawny man was the most direct. He picked up his long sword and walked step by step towards Victor, his low voice full of displeasure: "I wanted to cut you down with one strike just now, you foul-mouthed brat."

When he was less than ten meters from Victor, he suddenly swung his sword, and a strong, fierce sword wind directly slashed towards Victor!

"Tiger Malign Wind!!"

"Phoenix Song!"

An elegant and swift whirling sword wind, accompanied by the sound of a divine bird's long cry, directly nullified the fierce sword unleashed by the red-haired brawny man.

Mai Hime stood in front of Victor, her right hand lightly gripping the famous sword 'Seimasun Hime'. That beautiful flying slash just now was her masterpiece.

Gecko Moria let out a strange laugh: "Hehehehe!! Interesting! Interesting! Hey, Zipper Boy, I've changed my mind! Let's have a ring fight, one-on-one! Let Fleming fight that little girl!"

Victor's expression grew cold: "My companions aren't circus performers for your amusement, Gecko Moria. Perona, Hime, jump and hide!"

Victor's right palm suddenly opened a zipper, and a sheathless long sword, 'Hidari no raijin', one of the fifty good quality swords, burst out from within! The end of 'Hidari no raijin's hilt was connected to Victor's fingertip zipper, and then the blade and hilt shattered inch by inch, revealing the single-sided chain teeth connecting them!

With a roar, Victor twisted his whole body's strength to swing this infinitely extending sharp chain blade in a terrifying large circle!

"Metal Zipper: Circumferential Milling!!"

Oom---!!!

First, there was a piercing buzzing vibration, then a violent cutting wind!

Along with the huge roar, whether it was the surrounding houses or the standing zombies, all were directly destroyed by this terrifyingly violent chain blade! The chaotic and turbulent sky was filled with broken stones, wood chips, and limb fragments!

There were exceptions. Besides Mai Hime, who leaped into the air, and Perona, whom she held, the opponents also had their own means to avoid this horizontal chain slash that covered the entire village. The red-haired giant squatted to gather strength then leaped high into the air. The old scholar stepped through the air as if strolling. The grotesque doctor with stick-like legs was picked up by the zombie maid beside him, and together with the top-hatted lion-head, they hid on the stone platform beside Gecko Moria.

Moria yawned and didn't even bother to stand up. Black shadows surged beneath him, then a magnificent sea of shadows erupted, forming countless giant shadow arms that surged forward, uprooting the stone platform beneath Moria and the old grandfather clock behind him, hoisting them high into the air.

Even if these shadow-formed arms were destroyed by the chain blade with overwhelming force, more shadow hands would emerge from the ground in less than 0.1 seconds to continue supporting the huge stone platform.

A few seconds later, the storm subsided, and the shadow hands slowly lowered the stone platform back to the ground. Gecko Moria didn't even bother with perfunctory praise, yawning again and saying lazily:

"So, is this a complete breakdown of negotiations? Forget about drawing straws, quickly take them down, then go to Algaro Town and reclaim our new cadre!"

Gecko Moria didn't feel sorry for these low-level zombies at all; his elite zombie army was preserved on the Thriller Bark. He could get as many of these low-level goods as he wanted!

The red-haired giant landed without stopping, picked up his long sword, and slashed at Victor! The hunchbacked old scholar flew swiftly from the air, cooperating with the red-haired giant to attack Victor.

Clang!!

Mai Hime drew 'Seimasun Hime' and steadily parried the red-haired giant's coming long sword, sparks flying from the contact point of the two blades. Then she suddenly deflected the force to the side, forcing the giant back with a side-slash while his long sword was off-balance, then with high-speed continuous slashes, she gradually forced the giant, who had lost the initiative, to the other side of the battlefield.

As for the old scholar in the air, just as he was about to attack Victor, he suddenly found several milky-white spherical ghosts appearing in front of him, laughing and lunging at him. The old scholar used his air-walking ability to brake sharply, dodging the ghosts' surprise attack, then quickly darted back into the air, seeing the pink-haired girl on the ground giving him a mischievous smile, with these spherical ghosts continuously appearing beside her.

Seeing the blond-haired, suit-clad youth gradually walking towards Gecko Moria, the top-hatted lion-faced man let out a beastly growl, then raised his empty hands at him:

"How dare you destroy my Zombie Brigade No. 2! Taste my Hands of the Dead!"

Gecko Moria, however, waved his hand to stop the lion-faced man, sitting up slightly: "Absalom, you and Hogback retreat. You two are no match for this Zipper Boy."

The lion-faced man, called Absalom, grabbed the grotesque doctor Hogback and the zombie maid Cindry, then slowly disappeared.

Gecko Moria looked at Victor, who was walking towards him, with a hint of recollection in his eyes: "You have good subordinates, kid. But you will eventually lose them, do you know why?"

He slowly stood up, his tall, terrifying figure even obscuring the huge full moon above Victor's head, and his sinister words echoed through the center of the ruined Bell-Ringing Village: "My experience has taught me the answer as to why I lost my famous and capable subordinates... because they were alive, that's why they were lost! If they were dead zombies from the start, there would be nothing to lose! So, I will contend for the Pirate King's throne again with my 'Army of the Dead'! And you will become my most excellent zombie general!"

"Come, 'Ferocious Chains' Victor! I, 'King of Zombies' Gecko Moria, will personally grant you eternal death!"

The decisive battle begins!
