Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Fusion Plagiarism Monster

Chapter 17: Fusion Plagiarism Monster

It was a strange feeling to hit someone for the first time.

How should I put it? Unlike the previous "Gundam-fueled" sniping of the Four Emperors, this time it was truly and completely under my own subjective consciousness, using violence to severely harm others.

Looking at the delinquent students sprawled on the ground, unable to move, Shin shook his hand and gently exhaled.

The feeling of extending violence was exhilarating!

Just as he said, to prevent this group of brain-dead delinquents from seeking 'revenge' in the future, Shin's attack was careful yet ruthless this time, basically ensuring no obvious external injuries but enough to make them feel pain to the bone.

Especially that yellow-haired kid, although Shin didn't know him, he seemed like a particularly despicable scumbag.

So Shin tried many experimental moves on him, such as attempting to break a few of his ribs, but it was indeed not as simple as described in novels. Shin couldn't inflict severe injuries without causing obvious permanent disability.

So he settled for the next best thing, picking up a nearby mop and viciously striking his lower body a few times.

It wasn't fatal and wouldn't leave irreparable physiological damage, but he probably wouldn't forget that pain for the rest of his life.

"I'm actually quite reasonable," Shin said, playing with a thick, black steel needle in his hand, looking at the delinquents who were trembling in pain but couldn't move. He shrugged, "So even though you annoy me, I didn't want to use this on you—though I'm quite curious about the effect."

He said, kicking over a delinquent and looking at their terrified eyes, he smiled and tilted his head, "From now on, when you see me at school, walk around me, got it?"

After the other party nodded with difficulty, Shin turned and left, leaving behind a group of wailing delinquent students.

"I suddenly have some regrets. I should've known and had the company arrange you to Suzuran High School," the System praised in his mind. "You're such an energetic and intimidating young man, you should live a more passionate life."

"The fact that you made me go to high school is ridiculous in itself," Shin said coldly. "Although I don't quite understand what you want to do, I can't think of a reason to waste two years of time and energy on meaningless things in high school."

"Don't be so cold, Mr. Shin. After intense and exciting work, experiencing a youthful daily life to adjust your routine can also be a kind of fun," the System said with a laugh. "And youthful daily life has its selling points too, I mean—don't underestimate the places you can extend and intervene in this high school. Explore carefully, and you might find some unexpected surprises."

As for what unexpected surprises, this useless System said nothing more. Shin returned to the classroom and glanced at the fair-skinned boy who had a good relationship with Taisuke, startling the latter. Without a doubt, this should be the famous Makoto Itou.

A guy always used as a negative example, a typical scumbag. But truthfully, he wasn't that much of a scumbag, just a 'sea king' who juggled multiple relationships.

"Shin-kun, did you really agree to Aki-kun joining his club?"

Kotonoha Katsura said with some concern.

"Although it's not good to say this, getting too close to Aki-kun might cause you to be isolated by everyone..."

Aki Tomoya was a celebrity at Hōnodai, but not in a good sense.

Since the Sawanaga Kurojiri incident, the social status of otaku in Japan basically plummeted from "parasites" to "potential criminals." On one hand, Japan produced a lot of ACG, but on the other hand, those who fanatically loved this kind of thing were at the bottom of the social hierarchy in this country.

In this self-contradictory situation, Aki Tomoya, an ultimate otaku who didn't hide his interests, even dared to confront the academy principal face-to-face, and acted as if no one else was around, naturally had a very bad reputation at school.

No one specifically bullied him, but few people were willing to associate with him. If someone joined a club or group he established, the chances of being considered the same kind and then isolated were extremely high.

"Are you worried about me?" Shin looked at Kotonoha Katsura with a smile and shrugged, "If Kotonoha is worried about me, how about coming with me to a banquet after school?"

Kotonoha Katsura's earlobes slightly reddened. Although she knew it was a custom in his country, being intimately called by her first name still made her a bit uncomfortable.

"Mm, I'll go with you."

The afternoon's opening ceremony was very dull. The only highlights were probably the two people giving speeches.

One was the money-saving master, Uesugi-kun, whom he saw in the cafeteria. The other was Kasumigaoka Utaha, a black-stockinged beautiful girl who looked exceptionally full-figured (R-rated).

The latter was very beautiful and full-figured (R-rated). Shin couldn't help but glance at her a few more times, but then there was nothing more. Bored, he simply pulled out his phone and started writing, chewing on computer chewing gum, and letting his mind go blank as he automatically typed.

The chosen alternate world theme was a fusion of "Battle Through the Heavens" and "Demon King and Priest." The reason for not simply "plagiarizing" one directly was due to concerns about cultural differences.

In terms of the number of tropes, Shin wasn't bragging, but domestic web novels completely crushed light novels in all aspects. The number of authors in the two countries was not on the same level.

Coupled with the fact that web novels needed to write a lot of words daily due to the full attendance system, the cruel competitive mechanism meant you either won by absolute quality or by tropes.

So, would such a book directly transplanted to Japan become popular?

The answer is – no, it would be almost impossible to become popular.

First, there's the issue of cultural differences. Sometimes, the way people in the two countries think about certain things is truly difficult to understand. In domestic web novels, "killing sisters for

enlightenment" is commonplace, but in light novels, especially alternate world light novels, few would dare to truly kill their sisters for enlightenment.

Second, there's the issue of length. "Battle Through the Heavens," with its massive 5.31 million characters, isn't particularly long for a long-form web novel, but in the light novel world, it's an absolute super-dreadnought.

However, light novels cannot provide such a large number of characters. Considering publishing and printing, Shin had to simplify or even completely remove much of the content originally used to "pad" the story, only retaining the most essential parts.

And by incorporating "Demon King and Priest," the story's style was transformed from a Chinese fantasy style to a Japanese Western fantasy story that Japanese people could more easily accept, while also adding several "waifu" type characters.

These tasks, when given to the computer chewing gum, took only a few seconds to synthesize a complete light novel of sufficient length. The lazy Shin even let the computer chewing gum name it:

"The Fallen Who Was Divorced, Awoke a Beautiful Girl Master in the Ring, and Became a Battle God."

It was undeniably a very "toilet paper" name, a style of light novel title popular since "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute," but it was also clear at a glance.

Anyway, it was just plagiarism for quick cash, so Shin didn't care about subsequent operations. It was just a temporary name anyway; he could change it if it didn't work.

After roughly typing out the first 30,000 words of the novel, the opening ceremony finally ended. Shin stretched lazily and gently pinched the drowsy face of Kotonoha Katsura.

"Wake up, it's time to go home!"

"Ugh... Ah!!!"

Kotonoha Katsura groggily lifted her head, then shivered. Meeting Shin's teasing gaze, she took the handkerchief he offered and wiped her mouth.

"No matter what country it is, opening ceremonies are always so sleep-inducing,"

Shin sighed. "Let's go, Kotonoha, let's go get a free meal first!"
