Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Wounds.

Chapter 21: Wounds.

The world before Uchiha Uranium changed.

His vision, previously dim but still clear, suddenly shifted to black and white. Fallen leaves and branches remained unchanged, though their colors vanished in his eyes.

From an outsider's perspective, the boy's white pupils gradually turned yellow, as if he had activated a special vision, allowing him to see things invisible to ordinary people.

"Hmm, this black and white vision is quite interesting. Suddenly, the night is no longer an obstacle for him. Although I could see clearly before, this is obviously more powerful. Is this a new ability?"

He surveyed his surroundings with his special vision activated. It was as bright as day, and any darkness was fully revealed to his eyes. After a while, he felt a sudden tingling sensation in his pupils, as if he needed a rest from overuse, and he unconsciously squeezed them shut.

The next moment, he opened his eyes again, and his pupils had returned to their normal black color, the yellow whites gone.

"Aching and numbness, like that nighttime soreness I felt studying so hard during the college entrance exams. So this is a side effect of using this vision? It only lasts for a while."

Uchiha Uranium stroked his closed left eye, realizing that he wouldn't be able to reopen it for a while. The exact duration would likely require another experiment.

Returning to the present, Uchiha Uranium closed his special vision and returned to his previous, gloomy surroundings. Now he could see clearly, without any stumbling blocks or obstacles.

He walked slowly, but he was consciously navigating difficult terrain. Perhaps this would cause his wound to rupture, but there was no way around it; the complex terrain would hinder the remaining wind sickle beast.

Furthermore, his previous thinking might be flawed. The book didn't say the wind sickle beast couldn't climb trees, and judging by its swift movements, if it could, he'd be courting death.

The best strategy right now would be to find a cave-like area, surrounded on three sides with only the exit. He could then sprinkle some blood on the exit to cause rapid corrosion, then set a few traps.

This would be a foolproof solution. But where could he find such an environment?

He was torn between two options: continue through this complex terrain littered with tall rocks, or turn around and continue in a different direction, hoping to get out of its range.

"Never mind. This rocky terrain is fine. Let's see if there are any caves first."

After a brief thought, Uchiha Uranium made up his mind. His time was precious, and turning back would be a waste. What if the Wind Scythe Beast, out hunting, smelled blood and turned back? He would be dead.

"Hmm? Have I been here before?"

After circling around, the boy looked around with a hint of doubt at the identical surroundings. He hesitated for a moment. He wasn't sure if he had been there before, but it did seem familiar.

"Keep going, change direction."

Gray stones were everywhere, and there were many caves. However, Uchiha Uranium looked at them all and felt that they were not suitable. They were too shallow, only enough for one person, and there was no room for traps. What was the point?

Moreover, this place, which resembled a stone formation, was quite interesting. If you didn't follow the wall, you would easily return to the same place.

Not that you were in the same place, but the height of the surrounding areas was similar, so you could easily lose your way if you were not careful. It would be troublesome for him, but for the beast, it was not a problem at all.

Because they could find the location of people by smell.

A moment later.

"Huh, this place, finally, has something worth seeing."

Uchiha Uranium smiled with immense satisfaction as he gazed at the dark, winding, though narrow, passageway before him.

This place was quite good. It could only accommodate one person, making it impossible for a larger Wind Scythe Beast to enter. Furthermore, the numerous bends negated the Wind Scythe Beast's advantage in ranged attacks, Wind Blades. If it were a straight stone cave, he wouldn't have dared to enter.

But if a Wind Scythe Beast blocked the entrance and unleashed Wind Blades without a care in the world, wouldn't he be completely stunned?

From his perspective, the crooked, snake-like cavern was as clear as day. Though dusty and cobweb-covered, it seemed like a good place. He needed a place to recuperate.

The water and food he had on hand would last him over a month. After a month, the Wind Scythe Beast would no longer be watching him, and he could easily escape.

Moreover, after such a long time, the Wind Scythe Beast still hadn't found him. It seemed that his radiation was even more widespread than he'd imagined.

Since all the spirit beasts had fled due to the radiation, the Wind Scythe Beast would naturally have to run even further to catch its prey. Furthermore, it would take quite a while to turn back and follow the scent.

Uchiha Uranium walked straight in. His first impression was how cramped and crowded it was.

While there was enough room for one person to turn around, much more was a problem. This place was more like a gap between two huge rocks, incredibly narrow.

Sure enough, after walking for nearly a quarter of an hour, he saw the exit at the back. This wasn't really a cave, just a passage, empty at both ends.

This wasn't a problem for him. While there was still the risk of a sneak attack from behind, his route wasn't fixed, so he couldn't just go forward. At least he had a backup route to avoid being cornered by the Wind Scythe Beast, who'd lost his wife.

"But the most urgent thing right now is to bend in the middle, but clean the wound thoroughly in the larger area. Otherwise, it'll get infected and I'll be dead."

Mumbling to himself, Uchiha Uranium set up several soul skill traps in front and behind. As his soul power increased, the traps' power increased significantly, and their sensitivity and explosion speed also improved.

Overall, they should become increasingly effective, and wouldn't be as awkward against high-speed soul beasts as they were at the first level.

After setting up the safety measures, Uchiha Uranium placed several torches to illuminate the surrounding area, allowing him to clearly see the extent of his wounds. He slowly unbuttoned his clothes.

The blood oozing from the wound clung to his clothes, and the opening of the clothes caused the wound to twitch. A stream of blood began to flow out of the wound, but he held it down to prevent further bleeding.

"Hiss!" Seeing the wound, Uchiha Uranium gasped. He was truly lucky to be alive.

Under the torchlight, a clear gash ran diagonally down the right side of his chest, severing his ribs and resting at his waist.
