Chapter 26 - She Wasn't Naive

"Oh" Estelle raised her brow lightly, her gaze shifting around the house again before it finally rested on Dorian. She caught the way his eyes dropped to her bare feet, and instantly, her toes curled.

Without saying a word, he walked toward the door, bent slightly, and picked up a pair of slippers. He walked towards her and placed them gently at her feet. "Wear them" he said, a small smile tugging at his lips before he turned and disappeared into the kitchen.

Estelle froze, staring at the slippers. Slowly, she lowered her head, then back up at him, then down again. Almost awkwardly, she slipped her feet into them. They were warm and soft, making her chest tighten in a strange way she couldn't explain. She wanted to follow him into the kitchen, but stopped herself. This was her first time here, so walking around his home freely felt too forward and even disrespectful. So instead, she took few steps back and sat down carefully on the couch.
