Chapter 73 - Chapter 73: Shen Uchiha's Thank-You List

On the night of August 31st, Year 25 of Konoha, in the backyard of the Uchiha clan head's residence located in the Hidden Leaf Village of the Land of Fire.

A five-year-old boy lazily lifted his head to gaze at the softly glowing moon.

The boy had short to medium-length hair, with the strands at the back of his head and his sideburns tied into a short ponytail, while his bangs dangled loosely over his forehead. With delicate features and soft facial contours, he wore a black "Uchiha coat."

"The moon is really big tonight," he remarked while staring at it, quickly correcting himself: "No, wait—it should be 'When will the moon turn red?'"

This little boy was none other than Shen Uchiha, the youngest son of the current Uchiha clan head.

"Shen Uchiha, how would the moon ever turn red?" A much taller young man wearing the same Uchiha coat but in a larger size stood behind him and skeptically asked.

"Fugaku-ge, the moon won't just turn red in the future—it also has people living on it!" Shen turned around and answered in his childish voice.

Right now, Fugaku was starting to get a splitting headache. Ever since they were kids, his younger brother Shen always came up with such wild ideas. Unlike typical children's fantasies, many of Shen's ideas actually made coherent sense, so the family had no choice but to accept them as signs of genius—a person born knowing things.

Recalling something the other had once mentioned, Fugaku replied accordingly, "Yeah, yeah, that person is called Neil Armstrong."

"Do you know how he got to the moon? It's by rocket, right—"

"You took off in a rocket, right? Although I don't even know what a 'rocket' is, I still can't understand all that propulsion and fuel stuff you keep talking about."

Before Shen could finish speaking, an impatient Fugaku interrupted him.

"That's called a thruster. It uses high-performance fuel as a medium—the thrust generated from fully burning this fuel sends the rocket all the way to the moon! Fugaku-ge, you just graduated from the Ninja Academy, so how come your memory is already so bad?" While answering his older brother's questions solemnly, Shen couldn't help but worry about whether his brother might have memory problems.

"What ninja needs to remember the periodic table or mechanical principles?"

Fugaku felt like his blood pressure was rising—blood pressure being another term his brother used, something about vascular pressure. He couldn't help thinking—had he ruined the entire shinobi world in a past life? Why else would he have zero big-brother dignity left in front of this kid?

"I'm just concerned about you, you clueless older brother. You're still so young—you shouldn't be getting brain rot already."

In an adult tone, Shen spoke to Fugaku like that. What he said next included names like "Brain Gold" and "Six Walnuts" or something along those lines.

Fugaku lowered his head, looking exactly like a child receiving parental scolding.

Then, imitating their father's tone of voice, Shen ranted nonstop, teaching Fugaku some memorization techniques for the periodic table.

"Why did I even engage with the moon topic? If I'd avoided it, would this situation even happen?" On the surface appearing to listen attentively, Fugaku had already concluded that next time, he definitely wouldn't answer any of his brother's questions again.

"That's right! Isn't the Ninja Academy starting school tomorrow? I should give my lovely younger brother a few words of encouragement!"

Fugaku suddenly locked his gaze onto Shen, who was in the middle of an impassioned speech, completely throwing him off.

Seeing Shen's rare bewildered expression, Fugaku began lecturing back with a tone split between smugness and satisfaction—mostly satisfaction: "Shen, you're starting at the Ninja Academy tomorrow, right? You know how important the Academy is for any ninja, don't you? Your health has always been weak since childhood. At school, you need to—"

"Did my persuasive technique just fail? Or did Brother Fugaku finally come to his senses?" Shen wondered inwardly.

Outwardly, he wore an obedient, submissive look—the foolproof tactic he'd used before when dealing with his father, the current Uchiha clan leader. He even nodded slowly from time to time. His brilliant acting skills made Fugaku's eye twitch repeatedly as he kept talking nonstop.

Seeing that his "adorable" younger brother seemed to have already dismissed everything he just said, Fugaku felt even heavier in heart. He reminded Shen to rest well tonight before turning around and leaving.

"Then you should also get some early sleep, Brother Fugaku. And this time, memorize the periodic table thoroughly—I'll be checking randomly."

Hearing Shen's farewell words, Fugaku quickened his pace—he definitely didn't want to walk too slowly and risk getting dragged into more conversation again.

If it weren't for the fact that other kids his age could smash bricks barehanded while his little brother remained perpetually frail-looking, Fugaku would've beaten him up long ago. In his mind, an older brother needed to properly protect his younger sibling; yet Shen kept pushing boundaries further, growing bolder every day. Neither scolding nor arguing had any effect anymore. Fugaku firmly believed there wasn't a harder done older brother across the entire shinobi world.

With these thoughts swirling in his head, Fugaku lifted his leg and stepped into his room.

"Did I really bother him that much? Why did Brother Fugaku leave so quickly? I still had so many things left to say."

Seeing his older brother flee like he'd been abandoned, Shen looked emotionally deflated and soon headed toward his own room.

In Shen's bedroom, he sat on the bed gazing up at the softly glowing white moonlight, imagining how the moon would look painted crimson, adorned with black tomoe-like patterns.

"Talk about bad luck—I ended up being born into the Uchiha clan in a world as dangerous as this..."

He felt uncertain about his future. After a long pause, he began contemplating matters regarding the Ninja Academy.

"The Ninja Academy? Once we graduate, there's gotta be some loudmouth aiming to be Hokage. And yeah, two others who bicker nonstop but slowly start respecting each other—that's gonna be my team!"

Shen quickly envisioned the personalities of his potential future teammates. Where he got all that from? He'd stake his whole youth on it being right.

Indeed, Shen wasn't originally from this world—at least not in spirit. In his previous life, he'd been a typical 996 office worker. While charging his phone, he received a call from his boss asking him to work late when—boom!—his phone battery exploded, sending him into the Naruto world.

Probably because the charger was counterfeit, this incident led him to summarize three important life lessons:

First, never use fake chargers while charging.

Second, avoid using your phone entirely when charging, especially during calls.

Third, 996 (working from 9 AM to 9 PM six days a week) isn't really a blessing; working excessively late can kill you either through exploding phones or sheer exhaustion.

Shen opened his eyes and saw his parents in this new world, along with his five-year-old elder brother, Fugaku Uchiha. At first, he found the name "Fugaku" oddly familiar. It wasn't until after learning that his father was the head of the Uchiha Clan that Shen started going to the backyard at night to gaze at the moon. He knew that Kaguya Otsutsuki—the great villain—was sealed inside the moon.

Shen found it extremely hard to accept that children in the Naruto world could smash bricks barehanded at age five. Being someone from a past life raised under traditional Chinese values made it difficult for him to break free from mental barriers regarding physical feats.

Because of this, his family assumed he had a weak body and always showed him great care, fulfilling nearly every reasonable request. This warmth felt unfamiliar yet heartening to him, especially compared to the ruthless 996 grind he'd endured in his previous life—working from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., six days a week.

He also shared some scientific knowledge from his past—mainly physics and chemistry—with his family. He truly considered them his family, and they never questioned where his strange theories came from. They simply thought, "Heaven may have denied him good health but blessed him with extraordinary intelligence." His maturity from an early age further reinforced this belief.

In truth, all he needed to do was break through his mental limits, and his body would unleash its proper strength. However, Shen consistently replied, "I can't do it!"—a phrase he'd adopted from dramas in his past life.

Do you really think all reincarnated souls are fearless? Being afraid of pain isn't shameful! Fortunately, Shen, who had reincarnated into the Naruto world, possessed his own unique reincarnation advantage: powerful computational skills, memory capacity, and dynamic vision.

These three traits were less like abilities and more like functions. He believed that due to dying in an explosion while on a phone call in his previous life, his brain had miraculously fused with his mobile phone after reincarnation.

So far, this fusion had produced three developed capabilities: computing power equivalent to a smartphone processor, outstanding memory corresponding to storage space, and visual acuity mirroring a camera's dynamic tracking.

"How can the Uchiha survive? How will I endure the coming Second Great Ninja War? How can we resist the Otsutsuki Clan?"

The confusion in his heart couldn't be voiced out loud—who knows what they'd do if they found out? Might lock him up and poke at him like a lab rat.

"Well, time to sleep. Even if the ninja world perishes, I must protect this home!"

Before closing his eyes, Shen glanced again at the moon in the sky. This time, though, his expression was clearly different.
