Chapter 1 - The Mysterious Dream

The cool wind carried the scent of wildflowers.

Riding on a mythical horse with pearl-like horns and a shining white body, I galloped through hills that looked as if they were taken out of a fantasy painting. The colorful flowers reached up to my knees, and a huge rainbow stretched across the sky. Every time the breeze blew, my hair danced in the air like an anime hero.

Far away, a dazzling light shone brightly. A soft, tempting voice whispered in my ear:

— Go towards the light… it's there…

I spoke to my horse as if it had been my old friend for years.

— Let's go, buddy… I feel we're getting close.

But just as I was about to reach the light, the horse turned its head and…

What?!

Its face changed. Instead of the horse, Yuri was staring at me with his mischievous smile.

A hard slap landed on my cheek.

— Wake up already! Enough dreaming!

I opened my heavy eyes and saw Yuri standing above me, with the same playful look on his face.

— What? You didn't let me reach it!

— Reach who? The love of your life on a magic horse?

— Shut up… why did you wake me up?

Yuri smirked.

— Because the teacher gave us a project. And guess what? I'm paired up with you. Get up, we need to start our deadly duo project.

— Ugh, a project… God, can life be any crueler?

The sound of the school bell felt like the sound of freedom in my ears.

Maybe it's strange for most people: I'm the only son of a wealthy family, but I live in loneliness. Parents who avoid me, a cold empty house, and me… working a part-time job at a small restaurant.

I like working there. The owner is a young woman who takes care of me more than my parents ever did. She's the only one who knows all my secrets and always leaves dinner ready for me.

For me, she has the warmth that my home doesn't.

[Home]

As always, I opened the door tired. The house was silent, the only familiar sound was the long "meow" of my cat, who jumped softly into my arms.

I hugged him tight and gave a bitter smile.

— You're the only one who always waits for me…

The smell of restaurant food filled the house, but even that couldn't take away my exhaustion. I took a shower, the warm water poured over my shoulders like a lullaby, and for a few minutes, I forgot everything.

I fell onto my bed, staring at the ceiling with thousands of thoughts swirling in my head.

— Tomorrow… maybe tomorrow I'll see you.

My eyes grew heavy, and the dream swept me away like a calm wave.

The same dream again…

The same unicorn running on misty hills. The same golden light shining from afar.

I reached out to touch it, but as always, the light moved back, and I got lost in the fog.
