Chapter 3 - Lost of the wildcard

"That's enough."

I suddenly heard a deep voice behind me, making me turn around and see a tall man with broad shoulders standing there. He was wearing an all black business suit, his long black coat fluttering behind him as he walked toward us.

"Who... are you?" I asked with a frown, my grip loosening on Linda's hair.

"Mr. Eugene!" Linda called out in panic

She took the chance to yank my hand off her hair and run behind the man.

I chuckled with a scoff as I watched her hide behind the man. She was about to hold the man's hand, but he moved forward a little and avoided her touch.

"Who are you?" I asked, looking at him from head to toe as if judging his appearance.

"Well, I'm no other than the head of the group. I'm the one who sent salary and all, I'm also the one who was deciding who will be our target next," He said, raising one of my eyebrows and looking at Linda, then back at him.

"Linda told me she was the one who was giving the salary to the employee," I said, to which he chuckled and nodded.

"That's right, but I'm the one who's sending money," He said, before slipping one of his hands inside his coat pocket.

I chuckled and rolled my eyes. "Well, no need to talk about the money, who sent, who gave, or whatever shit is it!" I said, clenching and unclenching my fist while letting out a heavy sigh.

"Well, I'm gonna be honest. You impressed me with your talent and skills, you were able to massacre the whole gang inside the hotel without any backup, you were also able to kill the head of one of the Dealers in one go and leave no trace," He said, surely complimenting me, but I just rolled my eyes and scoffed.

"I also like your attitude, the way you look so chill and-"

"Oh, please, no need for the compliment," I said sarcastically.

"Alright then, but let's still not forget about your mission-"

"Oh, you mean the Smith family?" I said and chuckled, crossing my arms against my chest

"That's right."

"Well, don't worry about it. I'm quitting. Why don't you go and ask Linda to do the job? I mean, she seems eager to grab your attention," I said with a sly smirk before walking away.

"She thinks she's our lost? I can do the mission just fine, and I can make sure I'll succeed without her help!" Linda said in annoyance, but she had just been ignored by her boss.

"We just lost the wildcard..."
