This night was the darkest of them all.. dark clouds covered the usually star-filled night sky, rain pouring like never before.. and the lightening felt like it might strike down at any moment..
The forest looked eerily empty, no sign of a living thing.. Water flowing down the mountain had long covered narrow pathway, turning it muddy..
Hurried footsteps in the muddy pathway broke the silence of the forest.. A bright light flashed in the sky showing a silhouette of a girl entering into the dense forest.. she was drenched from the heavy rain.. "Huff... Huff..." breathing heavily as though she had run a long way and her lungs were barely able to hold her breath..
Legs shaking and unable to move forward, but she kept running as if her life depended on it.. She didn't know where she was going anymore, the only thing she new was to get out of this place as soon as possible..
Just as she entered the forest, a car came to a halt at the entrance of the forest.. a few burly man got out of the car and started looking around their surroundings.. one of them spoke in frustration "Where could she go in just a few seconds while we turned around the corner?"
Another man said while looking towards the narrow entrance of the forest with his eyes narrowed "There's no way she could've run faster than than the car.. She might've entered the forest in order to hide from us.. let's go.. we have to catch her no matter what.. otherwise.."
They all looked terrified as soon as the man stooped speaking.. even though he never said what might happen if they failed to catch her, they all knew only death awaited them.. A shiver ran down their spine..
They came to a conclusion and started following.. through the same muddy path..
"Huff... huff.." The girl came to a stop as she supported herself against a tree.. she turned her head looking back, if anyone was following her.. She couldn't see properly in the dense forest with the rain pouring down heavily..
She kept looking around her surroundings as her tried to catch her breath.. Some thoughts emerged in her mind.. She thought about the events that happened in just a few hours..
Just this morning she was happy and hopeful, thinking to herself that finally her husband looked at her with a smile.. He asked her to go out with him somewhere in the evening.. she thought that it might be a surprise and never doubted him..
She thought that although she married him against her wishes, on her mother's order, they'd eventually get to know each other, fall in love and live happily ever after..
She never thought that she'd prove herself wrong in just a few hours..
"Are you ready yet? we have to leave.." Asked her husband with a little irritation in his voice..
"Yes.. I'm ready.. let's go.." She ignored the irritation in his voice as she wore her favorite white heels and walked towards him reaching out her hand hold his.. Before her hand could even touch his, he turned around and walked out of the villa ahead of her..
She hesitantly pulled her hand back, with her smile wavering.. but she shook her head and smiled again, as if nothing happened, and followed behind him to the car..
She got inside the car and sat beside her husband.. waiting for him to say something to her, or maybe she was expecting that he might reveal something about the place they were going to.. A few minutes had passed on the road and he still hadn't said anything, she turned her head to look at him, only to see him smirking while looking at his phone..
She got impatient and finally broke the silence "Where are we going? can you at least tell me what the occasion is?"
He immediately put his phone down, turned his head to look at her and said with a smirk "You'll know when we get there.." She felt a little nervous after not getting the direct answer.. she nodded her head in understanding and kept quite and turned head to look out the window..
It was so quite in the car that she got bored and fell asleep as soon as the car got out of the city..
It was already dark outside when she opened her eyes and looked outside the car.. There was no light other than their car and two other cars that were parked right in front of them.. As she looked up towards the sky, she saw that it was cloudy with lightning flashing from time to time..
"Looks like it's going to rain.. I don't know where Lucas has planned to take me to.. it doesn't look like a place in the city.." As she wondered where they were, she saw to man walking towards her.. it was too dark to even see their faces.. she only saw dark figures walking..
They both stopped on each side of the car, in front of the doors.. She looked at them confused.. just as she was going to roll down the window and ask what happened, one on her her left side opened the door with force and said "Get out.."
There was no please, or miss, or ma'am in the sentence, only a command that had to be followed no questions asked.. her smile had long disappeared and a frown had taken place between her beautifully sculpted eyebrows..
She demanded as she looked at the audacious man with her eyes filled with anger "What do you mean 'Get out'? Who sent you here and what right do you have to give me an order? I'll can Lucas and immediately get you fired.. just you wait.."
