The emergency alarms started screaming eighteen hours after Kaelen's departure.
Seraphina jolted awake in their Geneva hotel suite, her hand instinctively moving to her belly. The baby was kicking frantically, as if sensing the chaos erupting across the continent.
"What now?" Damon groaned, rolling out of bed to grab his phone.
Before he could answer it, Sarah Chen burst through the door without knocking. "Ma'am, we have multiple situations. Three of them, to be exact."
The pit of Seraphina's stomach dropped. Three. Just like Kaelen had said.
"Tell me." She struggled to sit up, her seven-month pregnancy making every movement deliberate.
"Simultaneous uprisings. Belgrade, Edinburgh, and Seville." Sarah's tablet shook in her hands. "Ancient grudges flaring up overnight. Vampires and werewolves at each other's throats, just like the old days."
