Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn woke up that morning to an empty room. Cold, dimly lit and the small ray of sun that peaked through the curtains, illuminated In the room. He hadn't come back yet, and she'd been going through the same routine for the past three weeks. From waking up to an empty room to gardening and visiting the library, and maybe receiving occasional letters from her father and her not writing back. Everyday that passed made her even more irritated.

As she walked out of her night bath with Theresa behind her, her strings finally snapped and she began to rant.

" Crucial issues?!" She scoffed and sat on the dresser, " he hasn't been around for three weeks for crucial issues?!, oh please."

" Maybe it's really important…"

" Important?!. I have been staying in this miserable manor for almost a month, living in the same routine. I've been doing nothing but gardening and reading, and gardening, and reading, and then falling of a horse a few times, and discovering new rooms like fucking treasure chests!." She groaned in frustration and Theresa tried to hide her laugh,

" Well, I thought you didn't want him around. I thought you hated his presence, my lady, I didn't think you'd be affected by his absence." Theresa smirked. Kaitlyn adjusted on her chair and cleared her throat,

" I'm not affected!..."

Yes you are, a voice in her head whispered. She shook her head and sighed

" I just think it's unfair that he marries me then see it fit that he leaves his wife alone in this ghastly manor for almost a month in the name of crucial matters!. I'm just frustrated Theresa, all over gotten is stupid letters from father and yet I haven't gotten a response from Julian. It's like I'm slowly fading in the dark background without anyone noticing." she sighed as Theresa dried her her hair,

" It'll be fine my lady. The lord will be back and you'll probably receive a response from ser Julian. Although I wish you'd forget about him." Theresa said.

" If I'm going to stay here alone in this manor, then he's the only one who can get me out."

Theresa sighed and nodded in defeat. After finishing up her hair, Theresa bid her good night and she resided on the bed.

" Another cold night, and waking up to the same routine tomorrow." She sighed. Theresa's words crossed her mind,

" I didn't think you'd be affected by his absence…"

She scoffed and snuggled under the sheets, closing her eyes with a small smile.

" I'm not affected.." she whispered and dozed off.

Morning came and rays of sun peaked through the dark curtains. Kaitlyn tossed lazily on the bed, her mind was awake but her eyes and body wanted more sleep. She decided to sleep in, it's not like she was going to do anything anyway.

She rolled to the other side of the bed but was met with an obstruction and it was warm. Thinking it was a dream, she unconsciously snuggled closer to the warmth but then she felt it. Skin… a heart beat?.

She opened her eyes slightly and realised she wasn't alone. She let out a loud scream and jolted to the edge of the bed in shock. She was even more shocked at the person on the bed, sitting shirtless in all his glory, Alucard.

He's back?! She thought.

She watched as he watched her. Unmoving, without the slightest expression, he stared at her with those daunting eyes. The ray of sun gleamered on his pearl skin, radiating his large muscles and chest. His dark hair fell messy on his forehead and his fiery eyes looked lighter.

gods, is he even real? Kaitlyn wondered.

His brows raised slightly and amusement filled his eyes,

" You look like you've seen a ghost." He said, his voice was deep and rasp.

" You surprised me!. What're you doing here?!" Kaitlyn asked, clutching the sheets to her chest.

" This is my house Kaitlyn, and our room. I'm supposed to be here." He stated, Kaitlyn scoffed

" Wow, and you didn't know that three weeks ago?, you know after we got married?"

" I apologize. I had things to attend to." He sighed. I gasp from the door grabbed their attention, Theresa walked in anxiously with her head low,

" I'm sorry for intruding, Lord Alucard, I heard a scream and I was worried." She muttered.

" No need, it's nothing important." Alucard said and stood up from the bed, grabbed a towel from the closet and walked into the bathroom.

Kaitlyn was still on the bed, staring at the bathroom door in a daze. Theresa rushed to her side in concern,

" Are you alright my lady?"

" Yes, I'm fine."

" But you look so red and…" she paused, glanced at the bathroom door and back at Kaitlyn and smirked. " Oh, I see.."

Kaitlyn rolled her eyes and stood up from the bed,

" When did he get back?" She asked,

" Last night, while you were sleeping. He said not to wake you." Kaitlyn sighed, raking her fingers through her hair. She sat in front of the dressing mirror and watched herself in deep thoughts.

She was upset before that he wasn't around but now that he was, she didn't understand what was going on in her head. A crippling heat crawled up her chest and she had no idea what it was. Anger?, pain?, a bitter relief?, or fear?.

" Are you alright my lady?" Theresa asked in concern, she let out a shaky sigh and nodded. The bathroom door creaked open and Alucard walked out drying his hair with a towel. Theresa immediately looked away because he only had a towel wrapped around his waist. Drops of water trailed his chest down to his chiseled abbs, it was like he had no idea what he was doing. Heat crawled up Kaitlyn's face as she watched him, wondering how he could be so perfect. His voice broke her from her trance,

" Theresa, inform Salvador I'll be down in a minute." He stated, Kaitlyn stood up from the dresser and cleared her throat awkwardly,

" I need a bath, let's go to a different room."

" but the bathroom here is free." Alucard said in confusion. She raised her chin and grabbed Theresa's arm, the poor girl was confused.

" Well, I don't want to bathe here. Let's go." She pulled Theresa out of the room, leaving confused Alucard inside.
