Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn stood quietly as the vows were read by the priest. The marble hall was decorated beautifully and filled with noble guests. They all seemed happy for her, especially her father. She could only stare at the ground, a thousand thoughts running through her mind.
Why would father willingly sell me off this way?
She always knew her father to make bad decisions, but she never thought it'd ever involve her. She was his only child, a princess, yet he was willing to give her away to a man she never knew but only heard rumours about. Bad rumours. Her fingers tightened on the bouquet and her teeth clenched tightly, the air felt more and more suffocating with each passing second.
" Your grace?" She flinched slightly at the priests voice and realised she had completely zoned out. She calmed her racing heart and said her lines slowly. Her breath shook slightly at the thought of living with the man before her, each line in the vow felt like a bitter taste in her mouth. She finished her lines and the priest made him take off her veil. He took a step closer, her body almost stepped back. She hadn't looked at him yet, she couldn't.
As he gently took off her veil, she gave in to curiosity and dared to look at him. She gasped slightly at the sight before her, a lord from a place people barely knew. He stood tall with pale marble skin, black luscious hair that layed perfectly on his forehead. His his nose and jawline were sculpted perfectly and his eyes caught her attention. They were a peculiar colour, it was like the sun and fire danced in his eyes. The golden shade of the sun and the heat of fire in his eyes, it felt alluring and the more she stared at it, the more it pulled her in. He was beautiful, his aura was ominous and terrifying but yet intriguing.
His brows furrowed for a second but went back to an emotionless expression. He stared straight at her and realising she had been staring back, she looked away.
" My lady" Her hand maiden, Theresa whispered with a worried expression. Kaitlyn looked at the girl confused as she brought out a handkerchief and dabbed her eyes lightly with it. From the worried look on Theresa's face, she realised she'd been crying.
The priest blessed the marriage and Theresa led her out of the palace.
With mixed feelings in her heart she watched as some men arranged the carriage for their journey. Tears pooled her eyes as she thought of her long daydreams of only going into a wedding carriage with her true love, now she wouldn't even be able to see him again.
She remembered her father's words when he broke the news of her marriage to her,
" It is for your own good, for the good of the kingdom. This.. this is because I love you."
Love?, what man sells his daughter to a beast for supposed power and influence and calls it love?!.
She sighed and turned to Theresa who was staring at her with worry in her eyes.
" What is it Theresa?" She asked.
" You were crying at the altar and now you look so dull. I'm only worried, my lady." Theresa replied. She gave the girl a small smile,
" I'm fine Theresa." She said, " Any word from the Winston manor?"
" No, my lady."
Of course there wouldn't be, she thought. She had hoped he'd come to see her, but why would he anyway, it'll only cause her more pain that she'd be leaving him. Her love, Julian.
She remembered the days they planned their wedding, a perfect and simple day that she had daydreamed of for months. Funny how fate could change in a few days.
From a distance she watched him as he spoke with her father, and the sun on his skin made him look even more handsome.
" I must say my lady, lord Alucard is very pleasing to the eyes." Theresa whispered. Kaitlyn looked at her with a shocked expression,
" Theresa!!"
" But it's true my lady. I see why your face was so red throughout the ceremony." she teased. Kaitlyn scoffed and shook her head. She didn't care that he looked like he was sculpted by the gods, she wasn't affected at all.
" The carriage is ready, My lady." a maid said. As they walked to one of the carriages, she noticed Alucard walking towards them and panicked. She wasn't ready to stay in the same carriage with him. She held Theresa's arm tightly and when he got close, she spoke without looking at him,
" We'll be staying in a separate carriage." She pulled a perplexed Theresa in a carriage and shut the door.
" my lady…"
" I don't want to talk about it, Theresa!!." Kaitlyn yelled. Theresa stayed quiet for a moment, and it made Kaitlyn feel bad about shouting at her, but she was just so angry. The carriage started moving and they soon left the palace gates, it broke her heart so much. Moments passed and Theresa spoke,
" Are you scared?" She asked quietly. Kaitlyn sighed and shook her head.
" No I'm not."
" I know you're upset about seeing Julian.." Theresa said, Kaitlyn shut her eyes tightly, her eyes balling to a fist. " Your father knows what's best for you my lady. There were probably some problems with the kingdom and lord Alucard must have offered to help… maybe it was for the best." Theresa added.
Best?, for me?!!
She let out a laugh, a sad and gut wrenching laugh. Tears pooled her eyes and her smile cracked. A suffocating heat slowly filled her chest,
" He has problems?, so he believed selling out his only child to a beast would help this supposed problem?!." Her voice shook
" Kaitlyn…"
" I don't want to be here!, I don't want this Theresa!!. Yes, I'm upset about Julian, he's the one I was meant to marry, yet I'm here fulfilling a fucking duty I didn't ask for!."
The tank finally broke, tears rolled down her eyes and she cried her heart out.
" I don't want to be here Theresa, I don't." She croaked. Theresa held her close in comfort and she cried herself to sleep.
