Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Ancient One's Great Annoyance

Chapter 10: The Ancient One's Great Annoyance

2023-07-20 Author: Great Demon Spirit

The battle between Abomination and Du Wa had attracted the attention of many.

"Looks like the battle was fierce, but who were you fighting?" Blade said, looking down from a distant skyscraper.

"I found a replica of the Hulk and went to say hello," Du Wa said, his expression calm.

"If you could clean up your pets and heal their injuries, I might believe you."

Blade revealed an unsettling smile and pointed to the few Xenomorphs beside Du Wa. "It looks like you suffered heavy losses. This could create an opportunity for your enemies to kill you."

"Don't worry, I'm not that easy to take down. If the enemies you're talking about are vampires, then I hope the more of them that come, the better," Du Wa said.

Blade studied the Xenomorphs carefully, lost in thought. He could tell that Du Wa had extraordinary confidence in these creatures he had created. Furthermore, he still hadn't seen the Xenomorph with the crown on its head.

The two chatted idly until a barely recovered Abomination appeared on the street, roaring.

Blade's face was filled with surprise. His powerful intuition naturally sensed a strong threat from Abomination. In fact, even he would be in deep trouble if he took a direct punch from it.

What truly caught Blade's attention, however, was the state of the half of Abomination's body that had just barely finished regenerating.

"You did that?"

"I did."

"How many Xenomorphs did you lose?"

"Nearly half."

"You lost nearly half and still have six left? It seems you've made quite a few preparations in secret." Blade was shocked. How long had it been, and he already had a dozen or so? Among the six survivors, one looked particularly strong, its form even more bizarre and sci-fi, clearly a new breed of Xenomorph.

To pay such a heavy price to besiege Abomination and still fail only served to prove how dangerous it was.

Next, the two watched as Abomination wreaked havoc on Broadway, furiously kicking away one vehicle after another on the street.

If it were just empty vehicles, Blade could have remained still. But when he saw a civilian get caught in the chaos, he could no longer hold back. He drew his blade and charged forward, using his powerful physique to sprint across the buildings in a few bounds and rescue the civilian.

But Du Wa didn't move. He was waiting patiently, filled with deep anticipation.

This strange silence surprised those who were paying attention.

"What is he doing?"

Dum Dum Dugan pointed at the screen. "Someone's about to die, and he's just waiting?"

"Perhaps it's fear. He already fought that monster once and suffered great losses, so he's become fearful and doesn't dare to continue," Fury privately shook his head.

Was that all? Having a timid heart wasn't necessarily a bad thing. At least it meant he knew to fear power, which might make him easier to control.

As Fury thought this, he tapped away at his computer, downgrading Du Wa's evaluation by two levels to a level of "can be utilized, but not worth relying on."

Fury was disappointed, but Blade was not. He was puzzled by Du Wa's silence, speculating that Du Wa must have discovered something crucial.

From beginning to end, he had never sensed any form of fear or cowardice from Du Wa.

All this entanglement came to an end the moment Dr. Banner jumped from the helicopter and staggered through his transformation into the Hulk.

Even Fury no longer paid any attention to Du Wa, instead staring intently at the Hulk on the screen.

With the Hulk here, who would care about Du Wa! Didn't they know the sheer value of the Hulk? Didn't they know how immense this thing's strength was?

"Hulk!"

The moment Abomination saw the Hulk, it became excited. The frenzy in its heart, already stoked by Du Wa, now completely erupted. It madly abandoned Blade and began to sprint towards the Hulk, each step stomping a huge crater into the asphalt road.

Boom!

The Hulk was sent flying.

Having previously undergone Mr. Blue's experiment and been injected with a suppressant, the Hulk felt weak all over and could barely exert any of his strength, resulting in him being overpowered by Abomination.

The two giants battered each other, crashing and tumbling like a pair of great apes, throwing the entire street into chaos.

Abomination grew more and more excited, hammering punch after punch into the Hulk. Inside its chest, it felt as if something was brewing, about to erupt.

"Do you see, Hulk? I am stronger than you! I, Blonsky—Abomination—am the strongest!" Abomination roared at the sky.

Countless eyes watched him. This scene was uploaded to the internet through various channels, setting the whole world ablaze.

This was destined to be a landmark event. An individual wielding transcendent power, unscrupulously displaying their own immense might, engaging in slaughter and destruction.

Watching these two behemoths fight, their ordinary punches and kicks could flatten sturdy cars, and solid buildings were like blocks of tofu before them.

At this moment, many people on Earth who also wielded extraordinary power noticed this scene.

"Professor, if we leave now, we can still make it."

"No, we cannot act. This is, in the end, an internal struggle for humanity. Acting rashly will provoke certain people."

The members of the X-Men watched the breaking news on television, their opinions divided. Finally, they looked towards Professor X, who was sitting in his wheelchair.

But Professor X had a look of shock and suspicion. "Something isn't right... That Abomination, it's not just him. There's another consciousness inside his body, and this consciousness has rejected my mental link. It's a very strange feeling."

This was the first time Professor X had ever encountered such a thing.

It was one thing for there to be another individual with an independent consciousness within Abomination's body. The most bizarre part was that this individual who had rejected him seemed to be deeply bound to a third, unknown mind.

This Abomination fellow... is he really just the product of a simple experiment gone wrong? Or was he deliberately created by certain parties...?

Professor X's face was filled with hesitation, and he found himself afraid to act. He could have easily used his psionic power to pacify Abomination and the Hulk and make them stop fighting, but considering the terrible plight of the mutants...

"Destiny said that in many futures, the result is always the annihilation of the mutants. I must be even more vigilant, and it's best not to do anything unnecessary, to ease the relationship with ordinary people as much as possible."

Professor X was in great anguish. He didn't dare tell anyone about the countless futures Destiny had seen.

No matter how mutants developed, was destruction their only path? What was the right thing for him to do, the correct course of action?

However, there was someone far more carefree than Professor X.

The Ancient One sat atop a snowy mountain peak, perceiving information from the countless dimensions of the universe, judging the potential threat that the beings in those many universes posed to Earth. She took a moment to glance at New York.

"Hmm, reality has changed direction once again. But this isn't the work of an other-dimensional demon god; it's a result of Earth's own development."

As a Skyfather-level being, in addition to holding a pile of divine artifacts like the Time Stone, the Book of the Vishanti, and the Book of Cagliostro, her actual combat power was approaching the single universe level. The Ancient One keenly perceived the subtle changes happening on Earth, but she wasn't inclined to interfere.

She didn't have the Reality Stone in her hands; she couldn't just arbitrarily alter established facts as if they had never happened.

Compared to this, she was more concerned about her debt ceiling problem.

"The Vishanti haven't asked me for any favors, and neither has Cyttorak, so using white magic and demonic magic is safe for now. The biggest problem is still on the side of black magic..."

In the entire multiverse, all the magic used by mages is, in the end, borrowed from magical entities within the infinite multiverse—each magical entity is a multiverse-level deity, a terrifying being that can erase countless universes with a wave of their hand.

Since it was borrowed, it must be repaid. All sorts of prices had to be paid. No one dared to be in debt to a multiversal being.

What specific price had to be paid depended on the preferences of each magical entity.

A group like the trinity Vishanti was relatively easy to deal with. As a magical entity formed from the convergence of three multiverse-level gods, they backed the Kamar-Taj of numerous universes, and their loan interest was low.

The Ancient One had always maintained the good habit of cultivating Ascetic Monks, because they could help the Sorcerer Supreme share the burden of debt. But they weren't needed right now, so she decided to leave these Ascetic Monks for Strange.

Cyttorak was also easy to deal with. As the number one Great Demon in the multiverse, an ultimate terror residing outside the multiverse in the Crimson Cosmos, he was known to be rather indolent. Compared to chasing debts across the omniverse, this Great Demon preferred to just lie around. If you used a little bit of his power, he generally wouldn't bother you.

The problem was with black magic.

The Ancient One's black magic power was "borrowed" from Dormammu, the Lord of the Dark Dimension. And Dormammu's black magic, to put it bluntly, was borrowed from the God of Dark Magic, Chthon.

Chthon's temper was notoriously bad. He was also stingy and ridiculously strong. Even while sealed, he could slaughter his way through countless universes with a single breath, erasing any deadbeats from the multiversal dimensions.

So, the problem now was that the Ancient One took and used the black magic, but the debt to be repaid to Chthon was primarily shouldered by Dormammu.

This put the Ancient One in a difficult position. She wanted the goods but didn't want to pay the money. What could she do?

She could only let Dormammu continue to suffer.

The Ancient One could almost hear Dormammu's hysterical curses again.

Look at that. It was all Chthon's fault, look what he'd driven the noble Dormammu to become.

"The future of this sick universe is destined to be bleak. Even without some of these strange, inscrutable fellows, there's still Strange... I wonder how long I can delay it."

The Ancient One murmured softly and casually cast a black magic spell to give her lifespan another boost.

In the Dark Dimension, Dormammu, who was scheming to kill the Ancient One and devour Earth, suddenly snapped his eyes open, his resentment soaring to the heavens.

Damn it, the debt increased again.
