Chapter 238: Praise Me, Quick!
2024-01-22 Author: Great Demon Spirit
What does it feel like to become a being you've always dreamed of, one that can easily alter the course of the multiverse and reshape the history of countless worlds?
It's simply wonderful beyond words.
Du Wa had expended countless amounts of energy, employed all sorts of conspiracies and open schemes, and walked a tightrope multiple times to finally achieve a multiversal status, becoming one of the Gods worthy of praise across countless worlds.
If one were to disregard the Sphere of Gods and focus only on the Multiverse, those mortal lifeforms, as well as the Celestials of every universe, could absolutely use the most beautiful words like 'ancient' and 'sacred' to respectfully praise Du Wa's name.
What's that? You say Du Wa just became a Multiversal God, so how could he be ancient? The countless timelines of the Multiverse have become mere playthings in Du Wa's hands. Endless history has become a comic book for him to constantly alter. It's true that he has only just advanced, but to the innumerable lifeforms across countless universes who experience the cycle of life and death, Du Wa is already a great Deity who has existed since time immemorial.
As for 'sacred'... isn't Du Wa sacred? He even generously shares his power with all the humble, miserable, and pitiful people, helping them escape their sea of suffering and freeing them from such lowly matters as birth, aging, sickness, and death, allowing them to strive continuously for a lofty ideal.
"I'm simply the most benevolent and kindest of Gods, wouldn't you agree? I just can't bear to see everyone suffer. Even if some people, due to their overly harsh environments, can't immediately comprehend my act of bestowing a boon upon all life, and even speak ill of me, it doesn't matter. I don't blame them. To give them a helping hand, I'm even willing to bear the infamy and forcibly grant them this boon—they will be grateful to me."
Du Wa stood up, still walking around the office like an ordinary person. A group of people followed closely behind him, as if he were inspecting their work.
Behind him, a group of editors looked at each other, their eyes dim, conveying a despair so deep they wished for death. Yet, every single one of them was ruddy-faced, full of vigor, and physically robust.
Du Wa stopped and looked at their faces, revealing a smile. "This is how it should be. Seeing you all like this, I know I haven't done anything wrong."
Jeff braced himself and said, "Prime Earth is too mundane; it's limiting you. You've also sent Superboy-Prime to the Multiverse, so there's even less for you to be attached to here. I think you should leave—it won't be too late to come back after the major event you spoke of occurs."
"An excellent suggestion, Jeff. None of them dare to reveal their inner thoughts in front of me, but you are different." Du Wa praised Jeff, and his figure slowly faded away.
The editors present immediately breathed a sigh of relief, even though they knew it was pointless.
"He's finally gone... The Presence! How could that guy claim to be benevolent? Kind? Sacred? In some ways, his level of evil is more extreme than any demon from Hell!"
Morrison waved his hands and accidentally shattered a part of the wall with ease. This made him fall silent for a moment. "Although he's incredibly evil, he's not evil to the core..."
"Enough. Don't praise him while you're enjoying the power he gave you, only to curse him when you remember you're being controlled! That's not the demeanor of a qualified editor at all. Our conversations, even our thoughts, will be known to Du Wa. He just can't be bothered with us."
"I'm a little worried now. Will Du Wa one day turn the entire Multiverse into his own pasture, and to all life in every universe, extend... hmm, his boon..."
"It's hard to say. If it really comes to that, all sorts of powerful gods will move to attack him. No matter how powerful Du Wa is, it's impossible for him to simultaneously face a siege from the countless gods of the Multiverse and the Sphere of Gods—of course, that includes the Dark Multiverse as well."
The editors huddled together to discuss. They all felt that Du Wa probably wouldn't commit such an insane act. But then they remembered that not long ago, Du Wa was just a cosmic Celestial, and now he had miraculously advanced to become a multiversal Deity.
Jeff pushed up his glasses and casually began to sketch on a sketchpad. His hand moved so fast that it left an afterimage. He pointed at the sketch and said, "Countless people are searching for the location of Du Wa's main body. I'm very worried that the existence of Prime Earth will be exposed."
"There's nothing to be done about it. Although Prime Earth is protected by the Fourth Wall, to put it bluntly, it's essentially one of the 52 main universes of the Multiverse. If it's really searched by a large group of gods, there's a theoretical possibility of it being exposed. To be even more blunt, among the countless ordinary people in the outside world, some Outsiders might have already infiltrated."
"That's not something we can worry about. From today onward, that will be Du Wa's problem."
Jeff was still agonizing over the major incident Du Wa had mentioned. He racked his brains but couldn't figure out what kind of disaster could possibly be called "major" by Du Wa.
Even if it did happen, how would Du Wa command the Editorial Department? Would doing so still have any practical meaning?
...
Main Universe.
One by one, powerful Xenomorphs entered the Main Universe at this moment. They made no effort to conceal their presence, erupting with powerful fluctuations of divine power to confront the Gods from the Sphere of Gods.
This immediately attracted the attention of all the Gods.
They gazed at these powerful individual Xenomorphs, their expressions grave.
"Very strong, and there are quite a few of them..."
"Is that the Darkseid who follows Du Wa? There are indeed subtle differences from the Darkseid we know."
"Their appearance here means Du Wa has completely succeeded. There's no longer a need for concealment. I wonder where he has placed his main body."
Concept Gods... a peculiar type of deity. A Concept God like Du Wa, who uses specific creatures as conceptual coordinates, is even rarer.
Facing the gazes of the assembled Gods, Thanoseid was the first to make a move.
Everyone could see that among the Xenomorphs that had appeared, Thanoseid and the Xenomorph with demonic features possessed the greatest strength.
Thanoseid had always been eye-catching. Many Gods knew that Du Wa had an extremely peculiar Darkseid warrior under his command. They had no idea from which corner of which universe Du Wa had found this peculiar variant, let alone how he had cultivated it to the point where it could go head-to-head with the Main Universe Darkseid. It was simply astonishing.
As for the Mephisto Xenomorph, they had almost never seen this incredibly low-profile xenomorph in action, so it was difficult to assess its specific strength. They also had no idea which great demon was this xenomorph's host.
Recently, no great demon of any renown in Hell had been taken out.
As for the Dark Walker who relentlessly pursued Black Hand, that guy wasn't a Xenomorph at all and hadn't been parasitized. He currently existed only as Du Wa's collaborator and follower.
Oh, perhaps one should also count the pitiful Metron, as well as Lex Luthor, who had occupied the Mobius Chair. The two of them together could also be considered a powerful and special Deity.
"Where is Darkseid? Why isn't he in the Main Universe?" Thanoseid, with his hands behind his back, swept his gaze over the scene. His expression darkened as he looked at Kalibak and Orion, who were in the middle of a frantic brawl.
Thanoseid had absorbed many Darkseids and received a vast amount of their knowledge and memories. Naturally, he knew that these two, by rounding up, could actually be considered his offspring.
Orion hesitated, hastily dodging a heavy punch from Kalibak. He said cautiously, "I don't know. I only dared to show myself after he left the Main Universe."
"Useless," Thanoseid commented bluntly. This made Orion's brow furrow, but in the end, he said nothing. He didn't have the power to challenge Thanoseid.
"Don't even think about getting any useful intelligence from me, unless you can trade the Anti-Life Equation for it! Also, don't act as if you're Darkseid. I know you're not him, at least not entirely! You're mixed with other things." The fiercely loyal Kalibak bared his long fangs.
Thanoseid remained expressionless. He threw a slap that crossed hundreds of millions of kilometers in an instant, sending Kalibak flying. He crashed into the edge of the universe, slamming heavily against its barrier.
"You've misunderstood one thing. A part of me is not Darkseid, that is correct. This small part is the essential difference between me and him. But that shouldn't be the point you're fixated on. The real point is that Darkseid will definitely become a part of me!" Thanoseid's expression was incomparably cruel and tyrannical.
In fact, Thanoseid should have been even more brutal and merciless than most Darkseids. If Du Wa hadn't been holding him back, with his current strength, he would have long since gone on a mad slaughter across the various universes.
Even though he had been repeatedly beaten down by Du Wa, leaving him disheartened, the languishing of a being of his caliber was not something the likes of Kalibak could humiliate.
Even though Kalibak's strength was also incredibly formidable, he was powerless against the already so powerful Thanoseid.
"With a faithful hound like you, Du Wa must be very pleased—" Kalibak flew back in a sorry state, his face ferocious, but he stopped mid-sentence. He realized that he himself was also a faithful hound to Darkseid, and was respectful to every version of Darkseid.
BOOM!
Thanoseid attacked cruelly, every move aimed at killing Kalibak. This father and son by blood began a great battle in the Main Universe.
Metron watched for a while, then turned to Lex Luthor and said, "See? The gap between us and the others is getting wider and wider. But if you give me back the chair, I might be able to become stronger than both of them."
"You said 'might.' You think I'd believe your nonsense? Even without the Mobius Chair, you are still a Deity of the New Gods. Why are you so insistent on snatching my chair? Does Du Wa know you're doing this?" Lex Luthor mocked him. "Perhaps you can go ask the Anti-Monitor for help. Have him create a new Mobius Chair for you."
"Are you determined to occupy my chair? Young man, that's not a good idea." Metron's face darkened.
Lex Luthor sneered. Sitting on the chair, he was certainly subject to its control, forced to constantly receive a massive amount of information. At times, he even had to do things he was completely unwilling to do, just so the chair could better acquire knowledge.
But the process of receiving information was very important to Lex Luthor. He came from the DCEU Universe, and his level of intelligence couldn't compare to that of his more outstanding parallel universe counterparts, but that was no longer the case.
More importantly, the project he was advancing was about to be completed.
"He's here. I hope you can still possess the confidence of a deity in his presence." Lex Luthor leaned back, squinting at Metron.
The Xenomorphs all looked up, sensing something.
Du Wa's figure appeared bit by bit in the Main Universe, seen by countless gazes.
"He's finally here..."
Superboy-Prime, having been pummeled by several of Volthoom's punches, blasted Volthoom away with his Heat Vision. He now stared at Du Wa with a dark expression.
In that instant, time stopped flowing, and space froze.
The new multiversal god, Du Wa, the God of Xenomorphs, appeared before countless Gods for the first time.
From the Sphere of Gods, numerous consciousnesses reached out, conveying all sorts of information to Du Wa. Their main purpose was to win him over, all of them wanting Du Wa to join their worlds to bolster their own power.
Regardless of whether it was a good fit, they wanted to pull Du Wa over to their side first.
"So you've finally appeared. Is all of this what you wanted? Was my appearance just part of the process for you to achieve your goal?" Volthoom spread his arms, and a multicolored light flickered in the dark cosmos.
At this point, Volthoom was filled with resentment he couldn't vent. No matter how slow his reaction, he realized that Du Wa's promotion at this time must be related to him. The sudden appearance of Superboy-Prime, in particular, made Volthoom sense a conspiracy; otherwise, it couldn't be such a coincidence.
"It seems you and Superboy-Prime got along quite well," Du Wa said, glancing at the two who had been madly beating each other up for a while.
Superboy-Prime's eyelid twitched violently. "I told you, don't call me Superboy-Prime!"
"It doesn't matter. You need only know that I'm calling you. Now, you may return to your world."
With a wave of Du Wa's hand, the editors back at the Editorial Department simultaneously exerted their power, dragging Superboy-Prime back to Prime Earth.
Volthoom seized this opportunity to silently appear before Du Wa. Gathering all his power for a sneak attack, he activated the power of the Emotional Spectrum as much as possible, trying to pry into Du Wa's emotions and thoughts and disrupt his perception as much as he could.
But he failed. The difficulty of rashly provoking the emotions of a multiversal god was simply too terrifying.
"You've made a huge mistake. Using the power of the Emotional Spectrum on a Concept God... I have my own emotions, but if necessary, I can also dissolve them."
The Emotional Spectrum? That power was decent, but to Du Wa, it was just that—decent.
He stretched out his hand as if grasping the Main Universe itself. His terrifying palm enveloped all the rules and changes of spacetime, finally closing tightly around Volthoom's neck.
"Volthoom, I even went out of my way to bring the missing part of your soul to the Main Universe. Aren't you going to thank me properly? Come on, quick, praise me. In this still relatively stable and peaceful Third Generation, while you still have the chance, hurry up and praise me. In a little while, you might not have this honor anymore."
