Chapter 9 - What Are We?

Cai Kun's voice was calm,Yet it left no room for refusal.

Xiaohuahua didn't insist on going home. She simply let Cai Kun hold her hand as they walked toward the elevator.Somewhere along the way, it went from being "held" to being "held willingly."

There was already staff waiting by the elevator.A button press later, they were headed up.

The presidential suite at The Ritz-Carlton was on the 51st floor. The elevator was fast.In less than thirty seconds, it arrived with a ding.

Waiting outside was an older man in his sixties, neatly dressed in a tailored butler's uniform. His hair was perfectly combed, white gloves on, black-rimmed glasses resting on his nose.He stood with a calm and respectful posture.

"Mr. Cai, welcome to The Ritz-Carlton. I am your personal butler, you may call me Mr. Wang. Should you require anything during your stay, feel free to contact me anytime. I will do my utmost to ensure your experience here is flawless."

He handed over the Lamborghini keys.Cai Kun took them and slipped them into his pocket.

"Allow me to take you to your room."

Mr. Wang stepped aside and gestured politely.Cai Kun nodded and continued walking forward with Xiaohuahua.

He swiped the key card and opened the door.

The moment they stepped in, they were greeted with a panoramic night view of the Bund and the Oriental Pearl Tower through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The neon-lit skyline glowed like a sea of floating stars.

The suite was decorated in modern Art Deco style, complete with a living room, a ten-person dining area, a private study, a library, a walk-in closet, a master bedroom with a marble bathroom, and a spacious lounge with a guest bath.It spanned over 400 square meters.

But right now, Cai Kun wasn't looking at the city or the room. His attention was entirely on Xiaohuahua.

Mr. Wang, understanding the moment, smiled:"I shall take my leave to avoid disturbing your rest. If you need anything, just call through the room phone."

He quietly stepped out and closed the door.

The room instantly fell silent.Xiaohuahua felt a little nervous for no reason.

She looked up—And met Cai Kun's eyes.

Unlike his clear gaze from before, now there was a hint of red in them.

She quickly looked away, heart beating faster. But Cai Kun had already stepped forward and wrapped her in his arms.

She tried to pull away,But his grip was strong and unrelenting.Like steel bars locking her in.

A moment passed, and she stopped resisting.

The room remained still.Only the sound of two rapidly beating hearts echoed softly.

"I'm going to take a shower,"Xiaohuahua whispered, patting his arm gently.

"No need,"Cai Kun replied firmly."I like you just the way you are, in that outfit."

Click.

He pressed the rest button on the wall.

The main lights dimmed instantly.Only faint light remained from the corridor and the bathroom.

The curtains automatically drew closed. The night city outside was still brightly lit.

...

Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows the next morning.

Cai Kun opened his eyes groggily, feeling something heavy on him.

He looked down—Xiaohuahua was fast asleep on his chest, breathing evenly. Her brow was lightly furrowed—Clearly exhausted.

He carefully shifted and got out of bed, put on a robe, and walked into the living room. His stomach rumbled. He decided to call for room service.

Just as he picked up his pants, a note fell out of the pocket.

Cai Kun frowned.Right—he'd almost forgotten about it.No wonder he felt like something was missing last night.

He glanced at the note, typed the number into his phone, then crumpled the paper and tossed it into the trash.

He dialed the front desk.

"Hello, this is the front desk. How may I assist you?"

"Please send lunch up for two. I'll leave the selection up to you."

"Certainly. We have a premium gourmet lunch set for two, priced at ¥26,600. Would that be acceptable?"

"Yes."

"Very well. We'll inform the kitchen and have it delivered within 30 minutes."

"Thanks."

"You're very welcome."

Cai Kun hung up.

Then—He felt someone hug him from behind.

"I woke up and you weren't there. I thought you left…"

Xiaohuahua's voice was soft and slightly accusatory.

"How could I?"Cai Kun turned around and hugged her back, chuckling."It's almost noon. I just called for lunch."

"You must be starving too, right?"

Xiaohuahua nodded and pouted."I woke up hungry."

Overnight, Xiaohuahua had clearly changed. She was becoming a little clingy.

"Alright, after lunch I'll take you shopping to make up for everything. Sound fair?"

"No need."Xiaohuahua shook her head."I'm completely drained. I don't even have the strength to walk around."

"Then we'll wait until you've recovered."

Cai Kun didn't push it.

Suddenly—Xiaohuahua looked up at him, eyes shining.

"What… are we now?"

"Boyfriend and girlfriend, right?"She looked straight into his eyes, voice serious.

Cai Kun paused.

He had come back to this life for freedom and indulgence.Being tied down to a single woman? That was never part of the plan.

"Of course,"He smiled lightly and gave her the answer she wanted.

But instead of looking happy, Xiaohuahua looked rather resigned.

"I know… guys like you—handsome, rich, young, skilled in everything—even your gaming is god-tier.There'll always be women trying to get close to you."

"You're too perfect. I don't expect to have you all to myself.""But at the very least, give me a name… so I won't feel so insecure."

"That's not too much to ask, is it?"

"Of course not,"Cai Kun replied with a gentle smile.

"I knew it—you're not that innocent!"

Xiaohuahua playfully bit her lower lip."Ugh, you're such a jerk."

Cai Kun didn't get angry. He leaned in and kissed her cheek, gently turning her face toward him.

Looking into her eyes, he said slowly:

"I can promise you this—As long as you want to stay by my side, I'll keep you there."

"Houses, cars, anything you want—I'll give it to you."

"And even if one day you choose to leave,I'll make sure you leave with enough to live comfortably."

"As for love…"

He paused, then said:"I can give you that too. It's just—my heart's been broken too many times. So the love I give… may be a little scattered."

"I'm sure you understand."

"Understand your ass!"

Xiaohuahua growled, baring her teeth. She grabbed his arm and pretended to bite—But the bite was gentle, barely more than a tickle.

Then she let go, curled into his chest, and whispered:

"I'm not leaving you."

Ding dong.

Just then, the doorbell rang.
