Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 – Two Trillion Reasons to Run

Kodi's face was plastered everywhere: billboards, holo-ads, underground forums, even in the back of cab rides.

WANTEDKodi GreyCyberterrorist, Mastermind, World DestroyerBounty: $2,000,000,000,000

Two trillion dollars. Exactly the amount of his confiscated wealth—now literally hanging over his head.

He chuckled bitterly.

"Guess they did the math."

Scene: FBI War Room

Agent Penley stared at the massive bounty ticker flashing on the screen, blinking like a neon Vegas sign.

"Two trillion? That's... that's more than the GDP of half the planet.""Yeah," a rookie groaned. "We can't even imagine that kind of money.""We're not supposed to," Penley snapped. "We want him dead or in custody."

His phone buzzed.

It was a text from the President.

"Penley. I don't care how you do it. Bring me Grey's head. The country's watching."

Penley muttered under his breath:

"Or maybe NullSyntax paid for that bounty… Could be a hell of a combo."

Scene: NullSyntax's Lair

NullSyntax leaned back in his chair, half-smirking at the news feed streaming on his multiple monitors.

"Two trillion dollars," he mused. "Now that's an incentive.""They want him dead?" He tapped a finger against his scarred cheek."Good. Makes it more fun."

Scene: Kodi, somewhere in a crowded Tokyo market

Kodi ducked under neon signs and dodged a group of bounty hunters arguing loudly over who would get the "biggest paycheck."

One of them, wearing a cybernetic arm and a trench coat, pulled out a giant billboard-sized wanted poster and yelled:

"I'm gonna retire on this one!"

Kodi paused, turned, and yelled back without breaking stride:

"Tell NullSyntax to pay me first!"

He laughed, heart pounding.

Running from two trillion dollars worth of people wasn't just a game—it was the game.
