Chapter 25 - Chapter 15: A New Morning, A Familiar Warmth

After arriving at Long Yi's mansion, Han Yue couldn't help feeling a little expectant — maybe, just maybe, he would be there to welcome her personally. Her eyes twinkled with a hint of excitement as she stepped out of the car, but her hopeful heart was quickly met with the gentle smile of the old butler instead.

"Young Miss, welcome," the butler greeted warmly. "The Young Master is currently occupied with an urgent matter and will be home later than usual tonight. However, he mentioned he'll be staying in tomorrow morning to have breakfast."

Han Yue blinked, then smiled as if it didn't matter — but her pouty lips and dejected little sigh gave her away instantly. "Oh… it's okay. I understand," she said with a casual tone, though her expression screamed, But I missed him... The old butler chuckled inwardly. She was truly easy to read.

He then personally escorted her upstairs — to her surprise, to a room located right beside Long Yi's own.

"This will be your room, Young Miss," he said respectfully. "The Young Master instructed us to prepare it especially for you."

Han Yue blinked in surprise. Her heartbeat skipped — Beside his room? Her cheeks warmed up a little. Though understated in design, the room was pristine and quietly elegant. The pale colors, soft textures, and warm lights all reflected her taste perfectly — nothing excessive, just thoughtful and beautiful.

It made her heart soften.

She gently placed her things down, changed into her sleepwear, and climbed onto the luxurious bed with her precious baby bunny. The little creature curled up by her cheek, ears twitching slightly.

"I guess we'll get used to this place together," she whispered, rubbing her cheek against the bunny's soft fur. "Goodnight, baby."

3:00 a.m. – Long Yi returns.

The door to the mansion opened with a faint creak. Long Yi stepped in, loosening his tie, his hair slightly tousled after a long night of confidential negotiations. The old butler greeted him quietly at the entrance.

"Young Miss arrived safely," he reported. "She appeared a bit disappointed when she realized you weren't home, though she tried to hide it." A faint smile played on the butler's lips.

Long Yi coughed lightly and replied, "Good. Thank you for arranging everything."

Then he headed upstairs.

The hallway was silent as he passed his own door and paused at the one next to it — Han Yue's new room. He opened it slowly, peeking in through the moonlight pouring through the window.

There she was.

Sleeping peacefully, hugging her tiny bunny close, the moonlight casting a soft silver glow on her gentle face. Long Yi stood at the threshold for a moment, his usually cold expression melting into something far gentler.

Despite everything — the scandal, her family's betrayal, the internet storm — she looked completely at ease. Untouched by the chaos. Still pure. Still Han Yue.

He quietly stepped in and walked to her bedside, gently adjusting her blanket over her shoulders. But just as he leaned in to tuck her in more—

POP!

A small round head rose from the covers. Two long bunny ears perked up, alert and defensive. Baby bunny stared at Long Yi with wide, accusing eyes.

Long Yi blinked.

Then he raised a finger to his lips, "Shh..."

The bunny twitched its nose but stayed silent. He gave it a slight nod of approval, then quietly turned and left, closing the door softly behind him.

The next morning

Sunlight peeked through the curtains as Han Yue slowly stirred awake, her arms still wrapped around her fluffy bunny.

"Mmnn..." she stretched. "That was such a good sleep..."

Then she froze. "...Wait. This isn't my room?"

She sat up, blinking at the unfamiliar ceiling. Then she remembered — Ah, right. I'm at Long Yi's place now!

Feeling slightly flustered, she slid out of bed and padded to the closet. When she opened it, she gasped. Rows of clothes hung neatly — all her size, all her taste. Every piece looked like something she would pick out herself.

She whispered, "Did... did he really prepare all this for me?"

Her heart thumped a little.

She chose a soft, cute yellow dress for today. Simple but cheerful. As for baby bunny, she tied a little yellow scarf around its neck.

"Matching outfits," she giggled. "Now we're both cute."

With her bunny in tow, she descended the stairs and walked into the dining room.

Long Yi was already there, sitting at the head of the table in a black house robe, a tablet in one hand as he read the morning news. He looked up when she entered, his cold face easing ever so slightly.

He smiled faintly. "Come eat breakfast."

"Good morning, Long Yi!" she greeted him sweetly, taking the seat beside him.

Just as she was about to start eating, her baby bunny rubbed against her foot, letting out a soft squeak! — clearly begging for food.

"Oh, you little rascal," she said with a grin.

She gently lifted the bunny and placed it a bit farther from their plates on a cushion, then picked out some fresh vegetables and strawberries from the table. She laid them neatly in a small dish for it.

Watching her bunny nibble away joyfully, Han Yue's heart melted.

"So cute... I need to share this later," she whispered, taking out her phone. She snapped a few photos, planning to post them to her Weibo with a cute caption.

Long Yi glanced over and smiled lightly. Then, without a word, he reached over and placed a sunny-side egg and some sausage onto her plate.

"Eat more," he said.

"Mmhhkayy," Han Yue replied, cheeks full as she nodded with a muffled hum.

Long Yi poured himself some black coffee, then spoke casually. "I've already started the process of liquidating most of my non-essential assets and real estate. By next week, the majority should be converted into funds."

Han Yue swallowed. "Already? You're moving fast."

"No time to waste," Long Yi replied. "Also, our team will arrive around ten. We'll have a meeting to assign field units, outline supply gathering targets, and finalize the global hoarding plans. We'll also go over the core items needed for Phase One of the survival plan."

He looked at her seriously. "They're my people. Shadow Guards. They only take orders from me. You don't need to worry about leaks."

Han Yue nodded without hesitation. "I know. In my past life, they never betrayed you — even during the worst chaos. There was never a single whisper of infighting or betrayal among your inner circle."

Then she grinned slightly. "Well… your second uncle and cousin don't count. They were always trash. Especially stealing your Dragon Ring like that — so cheap."

Long Yi's eyes narrowed faintly at the reminder, but he didn't interrupt.

They continued to eat leisurely as the morning sunlight filtered through the windows. After a few more casual exchanges, Long Yi's gaze turned gentle, yet firm.

"And your family?" he asked.

Han Yue sipped her juice and calmly replied, "No need. I'll ransack their mansion myself… just not yet. I want to do it after the official disownment and legal severance. That way, no one can say I'm 'stealing from my family.'"

She giggled, eyes curved like crescent moons. "Once the paperwork is done, I'll take everything they owe me — down to the last towel."

Long Yi gave a faint smirk. "As you wish."
