Chapter 143 - Ch 143

After Kagami learned of Kaguya's choice, he didn't say much. With the hidden danger in chakra still unresolved, it was better not to absorb the Ten-Tails.

Half a month passed. During this time, under Kagami's orders, Konoha opened its granaries and distributed food to civilians left homeless by the constant warfare between nations. The news caused a sensation. While other countries and ninja villages were busy fighting, Konoha was doing the exact opposite. Its reputation spread quickly, and many desperate civilians rushed to its gates, seeking help.

Kagami accepted them all. After a year of planning and renovation, Konoha had a large amount of stored food, enough to feed tens of millions more people. With the advanced agricultural technology and fertilizers he provided, grain production had soared. However, Kagami was no fool. He wouldn't support these people for nothing. After a few free meals, he had them work in exchange for food. If they made enough contributions, they could even become true citizens of Konoha. This solved the refugee crisis and provided labor for Konoha's continued development.

Konoha's actions attracted the attention of the other ninja villages. Though their ranks had been decimated by Kagami, with the support of the daimyos, the other four great villages had managed to gather enough rogue ninja to maintain their systems. When they saw Konoha's strength and influence growing, they became restless. They understood that whoever wins the hearts of the people wins the world. But they lacked Konoha's resources. They couldn't afford to distribute food on such a large scale. Unwilling to see Konoha's power grow unchecked, the survivors of the four villages secretly united, planning to send agents to cause trouble in Konoha.

Three days later, as Kagami was chatting with Suzune and the other girls, a system notification sounded in his ear.

*[Ding, the system has been updated. The host can check the updated functions by himself!]*

"Is the update finally finished?" Kagami thought, startled. He excused himself, found a quiet place, and opened the system interface. The system had undergone some changes and added new features. He could now locate his offspring at any time, check on their condition, and have remote conversations. There was also a new "Family" module. In addition, the system now provided an opportunity to draw a random item after a wife became pregnant.

Most importantly, the system could finally enable a real-time protection function. With this activated, he no longer had to worry about anyone implanting subconscious thoughts into his mind. He had been shocked to learn that the planetary consciousness had done so without him even realizing it. Though it hadn't caused any harm, he had felt like a puppet. Now, the system would be able to detect and remind him of any such attempts. He immediately ordered the system to activate the function.

Next, he checked the Family module. With this function, he could give unnecessary templates to his children or wives. From that day on, the true spirits of his children and wives would be protected by the system, and they could be perfectly resurrected through "Family Points" after death. The source of these points was simple: each child would provide him with one point every day. It only took 100 points to unconditionally resurrect one person.

Kagami was very satisfied. Suzune and the other girls didn't have the best aptitudes. Now, he could give them templates he didn't use often to improve their strength. The ability to resurrect them resolved his deepest worries. He had been concerned about his children encountering danger when they grew up, but now, as long as he had enough family points, he didn't have to worry about their safety at all. At worst, they could be resurrected.
