Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: The Cult’s Last Stand

The Justice Taskforce clubroom was a chaotic mix of cream puff wrappers and battle plans. The students huddled around a table, debating the white-masked cult—a fanatical group bent on destroying the Eden Treaty, the peace deal between Trinity and Gehenna, pushed by the Federal Student Council President who'd roped Mash into Kivotos. The treaty aimed to form an Eden Treaty Organization to stop conflicts, avoid wars, and keep the city stable. But the cult, led by a cyborg calling himself the Archbishop, was causing havoc, ranting about Gehenna as a "demon nest" and tarnishing Trinity's name.

"So, it's basically 'play nice,' right?"

Mash munched a cream puff, leaning back.

"Pretty much."

Ichika nodded, kicking her feet up.

"They're extremists."

Hasumi, the vice-leader, adjusted her glasses.

"When words fail, they use violence—tanks, automata, you name it. And they're backed by some shady adult."

Ichika, usually the smooth-talker, let her frustration slip. Her diplomacy was useless against Kivotos' trigger-happy students, and her rumored Gehenna-like temper flared.

"Why not storm their base and end this?"

She cracked her knuckles.

"Ichika, calm down."

Hasumi's tone was sharp.

"They've got tanks and crazy fanatics! We're stretched thin!"

Mashiro clutched her sniper rifle, eyes wide.

Mash stretched, his muscles popping.

"This Archbishop guy… can I punch him?"

"Sensei, you can't just—!"

Hasumi's eyes widened.

"I'm raiding their base."

Mash's grin was unshakable.

Tsurugi shot up, shotguns clanking.

"I'm with you, Sensei!"

"Tsurugi…"

Hasumi sighed, pinching her brow.

"They hurt people for fun. That adult pulling their strings? Unforgivable."

Tsurugi's grin was wild, but her eyes burned with resolve.

"With Tsurugi-san, it's like bringing a sword to a demon fight."

Mash gave her a thumbs-up.

"Gold club, you mean?"

Hasumi corrected, exasperated.

"Nope, Tsurugi-san's my partner."

Mash insisted, unfazed.

Hasumi relented, her voice firm.

"Fine. Gather every available member. Tomorrow, we hit their base."

The next day, the cult's stronghold loomed like a fortress of bad news. The Archbishop, a hulking cyborg with a smug smirk, was plotting to hit the Justice Taskforce's base, seize districts, and use students as hostages to break Trinity. He laughed, thinking his plan was bulletproof—until a BOOM shook the walls.

"What the—!?"

He sprinted to the courtyard.

"Get crushed!"

Tsurugi bellowed, grabbing an automaton and swinging it like a club, smashing it through a wall.

"Let's roll!"

Mash shouted, his fist blasting through concrete, turning automata to scrap.

They were a storm, unstoppable. Mash and Tsurugi moved like they'd trained together for years, countering every ambush. Ichika laid down cover fire, her shots precise. Hasumi sniped from a rooftop, picking off stragglers. Mashiro, perched beside her, gawked.

"They're… monsters."

She whispered, half in awe.

The cult's forces crumbled, but the tanks rolled in, turrets swiveling. Mash darted behind them, a blur. Tsurugi grabbed an iron pipe, spinning it like a shuriken.

"Sensei, CATCH!"

She hurled it.

"Hmph!"

Mash kicked the pipe, turning it into a spinning blade that sliced tank armor like paper. They played "pipe catch," shredding the brigade in a whirlwind of sparks.

"Sensei's kicks are unreal, but Tsurugi-senpai catching that!?"

Ichika reloaded, grinning.

"It's like a deadly disc!"

Mashiro gasped.

"Trinity's full might couldn't stop them."

Hasumi's voice was calm but proud.

The Archbishop tried to bolt, but Tsurugi was faster, grabbing his shoulder and slamming him into the plaza.

"You call yourself Archbishop? I'll crush you!"

"Wait! We both hate Gehenna, right? Let's talk!"

He pleaded, his robotic voice cracking.

"I hate Gehenna, but you hurt innocents. That's not our justice."

Tsurugi spat, shotguns gleaming.

Mash stepped forward, cracking his knuckles.

"Shalle Advisor Mash Burnedead and Justice Taskforce Leader Tsurugi Kenzaki sentence you—"

"GUILTY!"

Tsurugi roared.

Combo Magic: Full Swing Knee Kick!

Mash swung the Archbishop down as Tsurugi's knee smashed his face, metal screeching. He collapsed, sparks flying.

"Brutal."

Ichika winced.

"Yikes."

Mashiro muttered.

"Was that… necessary?"

Hasumi adjusted her glasses.

"Just physics, not magic."

Mashiro scribbled in her notebook.

With the cult dismantled, Mash spoke up for the misled students.

"They thought they were fighting for Trinity but got played. Don't expel them. As sensei, I'll help them get back on track."

The Tea Party, impressed, agreed to leniency, saving the Eden Treaty. Days later, Tsurugi caught Mash outside.

"Sensei, did you… hold back for me back there?"

"Huh? Thought you matched me just fine."

Mash grinned.

"First time… fighting beside someone like that."

Her wings fluttered nervously.

"Cool. You got a scrape, though."

He slapped a cream puff-themed bandage on her finger.

"It's nothing!"

Tsurugi blushed, protesting.

"Can't ignore it. Fighting together was awesome. Next time, let's make cream puffs instead."

"M-Mya!?"

Tsurugi squeaked, bolting off, wings flapping wildly.

Mash blinked.

"Hope the Eden Treaty holds up…"

The sensei's journey in Kivotos is far from over, and the next storm is already brewing…
