Nezu's cheerful smile returned, but it was now the most terrifying thing they had ever seen.

"Akaza understands the reality of this world. That is why he is a true hero… and you are all still just students."

The room was silent. Their simple, bright world of heroes and villains had been irrevocably shattered.

Nezu's gaze swept across their pale, stunned faces. "I also heard what young Bakugo had to say to you last night before he stormed out. And I must say, I was genuinely surprised by his maturity. He was, in all respects, correct. He showed a loyalty to his comrade that all of you," his gaze landed pointedly on Iida, Uraraka, and Izuku, "seem to have forgotten in your haste to pass judgment."

Iida flinched, his face ashen, his righteousness completely gone. Uraraka looked down at her hands, her lip trembling. She felt a deep sense of shame. She had called Akaza a monster, the same boy who had saved her life at the USJ, the same boy who had just saved her again. Izuku just sat there, his mind a whirlwind of conflicting ideals. All Might's smiling face warred with the image of Rumi's broken body, and for the first time in his life, he didn't know which was right.

"You forgot what Asura did for you at the USJ. You forgot what he did for you at the festival, offering advice to help you grow. You forgot that he was the one who was targeted, the one who was ambushed, the one who had his family nearly murdered in front of him. You forgot all of that in an instant, simply because he did something ugly. That… does not look good for your future as heroes, where you will be forced to see ugly things every single day."

Nezu clapped his paws together, the small sound echoing like a gunshot in the silent room. "Well, that's all for the lesson! The police and medical transports are here. Your parents have been contacted. The training camp is officially--"

But then he noticed something.

The principal suddenly stopped, mid-sentence. His ears twitched. His cheerful, calculating expression faltered, replaced by a look of dawning, genuine alarm. He looked around the room, his eyes wide.

"Oh, no," he whispered, so quietly only the teachers heard him.

"Sir?" Aizawa asked, stepping forward, sensing the change.

"Where is he?" Nezu asked, his voice sharp.

"Who? Akaza?"

"No. Bakugo. He left this room 10 minutes ago, correct? He's not here. He was making his way towards the restroom, and has not returned yet."

Iida jolted, his training kicking in. He frantically scanned the room, his eyes darting from student to student. "He's… he's not here, sir! I assumed he was with Asura!"

"No," Aizawa said, a cold dread washing over him. "I saw Akaza. He was in the medical wing with Usagiyama all night."

Nezu's fur stood on end. "I was just mapping out the villain's attack patterns… their targets… Asura was the distraction, the one they sent the Nomu to pin down. But they had other targets. They must have. And Bakugo… Bakugo's performance at the Sports Festival… his power, his aggression… Oh, no, no, no…"

"Aizawa!" Nezu snapped, all cheer gone. "Outside. Now! Find where he went!"

Aizawa didn't hesitate. He burst through the doors, his eyes scanning the grounds. "His blast mark… from when he stormed out… it was near the restrooms…"

He ran to the side of the lodge, and his blood ran cold. He found it. Not a blast mark from anger, but the fading mist he saw last time at USJ.

Kurogiri's warp gate.

Aizawa sprinted back into the lodge, his face a mask of absolute horror. "Principal… he's gone. They took him. The League… they took Bakugo."

The news hit the exhausted, morally-conflicted students like a final, devastating blow. Panic, true and unadulterated, erupted.

"They took him?!" Kirishima yelled.

"They were still here?!" Kaminari shrieked.

"Oh my god, oh my god…" Uraraka sobbed, her composure breaking completely.

"SILENCE!" Aizawa roared, his quirk flaring, silencing the room. "This is a high-level emergency. The camp is over. All students are to be transported back home under armed guard, immediately. You will not engage. You will not go looking for him. You will go home. That is an order."

The evacuation was tense and frantic. The students were herded, single-file, onto a large, armored bus, each one flanked by a police officer. They were no longer students; they were assets to be protected.

As they were settling in the bus, they saw it and halted.

Rumi. She was wheeled out on a stretcher, still unconscious, her face pale beneath the bandages.

And he was there with her.

Akaza walked beside her, his expression a cold, unreadable mask. He hadn't changed, his bloody uniform a grim reminder of the previous night.

The rest of Class 1-A watched him from the bus, their faces a complex mixture of fear, shame, and confusion. They had called him a monster, a villain. And now, seeing him, he looked… lost. He looked like the only thing in the world that mattered to him was the girl on that stretcher. None of them had the courage to meet his eyes.

Akaza ignored them, his focus solely on Rumi. As the medics prepared to lift her into the guarded ambulance, he stopped them with a hand on the stretcher. He leaned down, his long hair falling to curtain his face, and gently kissed her forehead.

"I'll be back, carrots," he whispered, his voice impossibly soft. "I promise."

He stepped back, and the doors slammed shut. The ambulance, its lights flashing, pulled away, taking her to safety.

Only then did Akaza turn. His black eyes swept over the bus, over his classmates, with a chilling indifference, as if he was looking at strangers. Or perhaps, at insects.

Izuku and Shoto were the last to board. Shoto paused, gave Akaza a short, firm nod, and got on the bus.

But Izuku stopped. He had to. His heart was hammering. He had to say something. He couldn't let this be.

"Akaza-kun!" he called out, his voice shaking.

Akaza just looked at him, his expression empty.

"What you did… I… I understand why," Izuku stammered, his mind racing. He was still processing Bakugo's words, Nezu's logic. "But… but it was still wrong! Don't you see? You can't just… kill! You can't let this one act define you! You can't let the rage blind you! I know you can beat your demons! I know you can be a hero who saves people, a hero like All M--"

He didn't get to finish.

A sudden, invisible force slammed into him, pinning him against the side of the bus. It wasn't a punch. It was a crushing, constricting pressure, a telekinetic-like force made of pure, focused shockwaves. It didn't break his bones, but it squeezed the air from his lungs, holding him completely immobile.

Akaza walked forward, his footsteps silent, until he was inches from Izuku's terrified, bulging eyes.

"Listen to me, Midoriya." Akaza's voice was an ice-cold whisper, far more terrifying than any yell. "And listen closely. In the most polite way I can possibly phrase this… I don't give a single, flying fuck about your opinion. And I don't give a fuck about All Might's opinion."

Izuku's eyes widened, tears of terror and shock welling.

"You can keep living in your fantasy world. You can keep fanboying over your smiling symbol. I do not care. But I am giving you one warning." His black eyes, dark and limitless, seemed to pull Izuku in. "If you, or anyone else, ever gets in my way again… I won't hold back. I am the monster, right? I'm the villain?"

The pressure increased, and Izuku choked.

"Then watch me act like one."

He released the shockwave. Izuku collapsed to the ground, gasping for air, shaking violently. He scrambled back, crab-walking away from Akaza as if he had just been touched by death itself, before turning and fleeing onto the bus.

Akaza watched him go, his expression unchanged. He turned to Shoto, who was the last one standing outside, having watched the entire exchange.

"You want to say something too?" Akaza asked, his voice flat.

Shoto just stood there for a long moment, his heterochromatic eyes locking with Akaza's black ones. He stepped forward, close enough to whisper.

"Give them hell, buddy."

He turned and walked onto the bus, leaving Akaza alone on the pavement.

A tiny, almost imperceptible smirk touched Akaza's lips. First Bakugo… now Shoto. He wasn't as alone as he thought.

He watched the bus pull away, its occupants staring at him through the glass like he was a ticking bomb. Once it was gone, he turned and walked back into the lodge. His duty to Rumi was done; she was safe. Now, his other duty was beginning.

He walked into a quiet meeting room. Nezu was there, waiting for him, a tablet in front of him. Aizawa was standing by the window, his face grim.

Akaza stood before his teacher and principal. He looked at Aizawa, then at Nezu, his gaze a silent question. What is he doing here?

Nezu, picking up on the look immediately, let out a small, cheerful laugh. "Oh, don't worry about him, Asura. He's one of us." He nodded at Aizawa.

Aizawa sighed, rubbing his eyes under his bandages. He looked at Akaza, his usual tired expression replaced with something more complex. A shared, grim understanding.

"Sorry for yelling at you out there," Aizawa said, his voice a low grumble. "Had to keep up appearances for the class. Can't let them know I'm part of the HPSC's retrieval and asset division."

Akaza's cold composure finally, utterly broke. His eyes went wide, his jaw dropping in genuine, unadulterated shock. Aizawa? His stoic, by-the-book, "logical-ruse" homeroom teacher… was part of Nezu's secret force?

Aizawa just gave him a tired, dry look. "Surprised? Don't be. The world's a hell of a lot darker than what they teach you in school."

Then jokingly added, "This is the reason I like to take naps whenever I get time. I got way too many missions to complete during the night."
