Chapter 4 - When Angels Fall

The dungeon was quite, the only sounds heard were Sharon's ragged breathing. Each breathe hurt but her anxiety lessened the pain

"Do you think she succeeded?" Hela asked Sharon breaking the silence.

"I know she did. She has Jerry's ear, and the Omega or Frank haven't come down her for awhile so that is a good sign."

"I can't wait to see what punishment Jerry gives Mona and her Dad. I hope it's brutal."

"I don't want revenge, I just want to get out of here, heal and repair my relationship with Jerry." Sharon said. "Because after this I doubt our relationship will be the same. It can't be after he stood by and let them treat me like this."

"How can you two make things better?" Hela asked soberly.

Before Sharon could answer the door opened and two guards seized her.

"Where are you taking me?" She asked fearfully.

"The throne room." They snapped at her.

She felt a mixture of excitement and dread. Excitement because she was going to be freed, but why dread?

They passed by many servants on the way. They all looked horrified and sad to see what had been done to her. She had been a good Luna and was loved by them, seeing her reduced to a bleeding prisoner upset them.

The guards opened the door to the throne room and dragged her in the cold stone floor scraped against her bare feet, sending jolts of pain through her battered body. Nobles crowded the room, among them Beta Frank. Their whispers and cold looks followed her as she walked to the throne where Alpha Jerry sat. Sitting besides him in the very chair she had once occupied, was Mona. The sight would have made Sharon's heart crumble in pain, but the look of intense hatred in Jerry's eyes scared and confused her.

"This dosen't look good." Hela whispered fearfully.

Jerry stared at her for a long time then stood up.

"Nobles and advisers, we are gathered to deliver judgment on this murderous traitor, Sharon Bloodfang. A woman who once called herself your Luna. She has betrayed my trust and the trust of this pack.

Sharon's eyes widened. "Jerry please-!"

"Silence!" He snarled. "The time for your lies is over." He signaled to a guard who placed a memory crystal on the council table and activated it.

Sharon's voice filled the chamber.

"I lied. I killed his mother. I did it."

A horrified gasp went through the hall. Sharon just stared, not sure if all this was truly happening or part of a horrible nightmare.

"That is the voice of the accused," Jerry said coldly. "Proof beyond doubt that this woman I once loved and trusted is a murderer." Jerry said coldly.

"Sharon I never thought you could be so callous. I am ashamed of you right now." Mona said sounding pained.

"So am I. And now you will pay for your callousness." A guard handed Jerry a scroll. He unrolled it and the words he read out were like knives slashing what was left of Sharon's shattered soul.

"I, Alpha Jerry Bloodfang , leader of the Deathclaw pack, finds you Sharon Bloodfang, guilty of high treason and the murder of the Agba Luna . You are hereby sentenced to death. Your execution will take place tonight, in full glare of the moon. Take her back to her cell!"

There were howls of approval. In the noise, Sharon found her tongue. "Jerry please I am innocent. That isn't me! I'm being framed!" She cried hoarsely.

""Take her away!" He barked.

As she was dragged away, she looked back to see Mona embracing Jerry, over his shoulder she smiled mockingly at Sharon.

Sharon was taken to the execution cell, a cold, damp, windowless box like room, where the condemned spent their last hours before execution.

She lay on the cold floor, too numb to accept what had happened.

"That was your voice." Hela said, "those were your words."

"But I never said that! at least not that way! That crystal was edited by Frank and Mona to incriminate me!"

"I don't think it's just them." Hela said gravely. "Do you remember who you were speaking to when you said those words?"

Sharon thought. "Judy. I was-" She stopped her body going cold as the realization hit her.

"No! No! Judy won't do that to me! She can't!" Sharon cried.

"She did. Her concern and sympathy were as false as a snakes smile. Accept you are surrounded by traitors Sharon. Now the question is are you going to let them walk over you? Or are you going to give them what you have given you?" Hela asked coldly.

"How? I have no power, position, or anyone I can trust." Suddenly overwhelmed with everything, she curled into a ball and burst into tears.

Mona's betrayal, Jerry's cold eyes, and the pack's triumphant howls when he sentenced her, all cut her deeply.

Then she heard footsteps and Mona came to her cell door.

"Hello Sharon." She smirked."Wow you look terrible, what have you been doing to yourself?"

"Why Mona? I thought you were my friend?" Sharon groaned. "We grew up together!"

"Exsctly. I grew up watching you have everything I wanted. Fame, fortune, position. The only way to get them was to get you out of the way, lucky for me you helped me out by letting me into your life. Visiting the palace made it easy to get close to Jerry, and one day while you were out doing your good deeds, I slipped something into his wine and we made love. When I got pregnant I thought he would dump you and marry me, but the idiot didn't want to hurt you, he wanted to send me and our son away. But that won't happen now you have killed the his dear mother."

"Liar! Your father killed Agba Luna and you know it!"

"Keep my father out of your delusion you murderer! You killed her. And now you will pay for it!" She came closer smiling maliciously. "You were once the angel of the pack, now you will be forever remembered as the pack demon. I can't wait for you to see the punishment darling Jerry has planned for you. It's going to be pretty hot."

Laughed mockingly she walked away, leaving her broken and empty.
