Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: The Bitter Truth

Dmitri stood there, his heart shattering into a million pieces as Elías's words echoed in his mind. He realized that he had lost Elías, not just physically, but emotionally as well. The man he loved was gone, replaced by someone who was strong, independent, and unwilling to return to the darkness.

"So, this is it?" Dmitri asked, his voice filled with despair. "It's over?"

Elías nodded, tears streaming down his face. "Yes, Dmitri," he said softly. "It's over. But that doesn't mean I don't care about you. I want you to be happy, to find peace. But I can't be a part of that journey."

Dmitri stared at him, his eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and understanding. He knew that Elías was right. He had to change, to confront his demons, but he had to do it alone.

With a heavy heart, Dmitri turned and walked away, leaving Elías behind in the quiet coastal town. He knew that he would never forget him, that he would always carry the weight of his regret.
