Chapter 242 - MHGA Chapter 242: The Newcomers’ Elder Dragon Battle!

MHGA Chapter 242: The Newcomers' Elder Dragon Battle!

"Here it comes! HERE IT COMES!!!"

Under the effects of Dash Juice, Rakuro Hizutome felt his body and spirit burning with intensity.

He'd always been drawn to challenges—otherwise, he wouldn't be known as a famous "trash-game" hunter.

Now, his attack had drawn the Kirin's attention entirely onto him, and its horn was already manipulating the charged ions in the air. The exposed skin on Rakuro's body began to tingle, a sharp, needle-like pain warning of the lightning that was about to strike.

The sense of danger completely flooded Rakuro's mind—yet that very pressure ignited a burning desire to challenge the impossible.

"Come on! Aim your attacks at me!!"

Facing the Kirin's incoming strike, Rakuro showed no fear and charged head-on.

Back when he first arrived at the Gathering Hub and was picking his weapon, he had asked Kairo Retsu—

Which weapon was best suited for him? Something truly challenging.

He loved the thrill of dancing on a blade's edge, so…

Kairo hadn't recommended any weapon directly. Instead, he taught Rakuro the art of precision Guard Point—GP.

And now, Rakuro was wielding a new Dual Blades moveset from the Wilds expansion.

Once in Demon Mode, if you executed a precise dodge, it would trigger Demon Dash, massively boosting the Hunter's damage output…

To better sense the Kirin's attacks, Rakuro had stripped off all his armor save for a Kulu-Ya-Ku Headgear and a pair of shorts for modesty—his mostly bare skin maximizing sensitivity to the incoming strike's direction.

As Rakuro, fully Demonized, rushed the Kirin, the sting in his skin intensified—that was the warning sign of charged ions clustering, the precursor to a devastating lightning strike.

"Hrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnnn—!"

With the Kirin's furious roar, a thick, pale lightning column erupted around it, engulfing the surrounding space in an instant. Tanjiro had already leapt back just before it struck—but Rakuro charged in even further.

Watching from the shadows, the MaxTac unit and surviving cops witnessed with their own cyber-eyes a half-naked kid in a Kulu-Ya-Ku headpiece being consumed by terrifying lightning.

But in the next moment, as the bolts dispersed, the red glow around Rakuro seemed to be baptized by the storm, transforming into a brilliant blue radiance.

Emerged from the lightning unscathed, the Demonized Dual Blades user spun midair and landed a direct hit on the Kirin while it was unable to dodge.

The attack, empowered by Demon Dash, pierced the electric field surrounding the Kirin—landing squarely on its lightning-channeling horn. A clear scratch was carved into that supposedly indestructible appendage.

"I did it!!!"

Rakuro whooped in exhilaration. "That's what I'm talking about!!! HELL YEAH——————!!"

The successful strike on the Kirin jolted Tanjiro and David with a surge of adrenaline. But predictably, the Kirin was driven into a frenzy.

Its horn was a vital organ—and now that Rakuro had left a mark on it, the Kirin's agitation intensified.

It thrashed its head wildly. Neon lights shimmered across its silver-white mane, but they couldn't conceal the madness and hunger in its eyes. Its hooves stomped down, pulverizing the pavement beneath and sending fragments flying.

In a blink, its figure became enveloped in furious lightning, and it charged straight at Rakuro.

Rakuro forced his eyes wide open, trying desperately to read the Kirin's movement and dodge. But the beast, consumed by rage, had locked onto his body completely.

The very second Rakuro dodged its charge, the Kirin's hoof slammed into the ground with a thunderous crack, shattering the street. Using the recoil force, it twisted its head and aimed to impale Rakuro with its horn—to tear him apart completely.

"Rakuro!!!!"

Just before the horn could strike, David entered a near-Sandevistan-like state. With a Gunlance, he used Blast Dash to hurl himself across the battlefield, crossing the distance between them in an instant and raising his sturdy shield in front of Rakuro.

The full brunt of the Kirin's second charge smashed directly into David's shield.

Rakuro reacted swiftly. The moment David blocked in front of him, Rakuro braced behind him, supporting David's back as they withstood the impact together.

David felt like his arm was about to snap—and his chest cavity screamed from the violent collision… for a moment, it felt like his heart had stopped from the blow.

If not for standard Hunter shield form—shield in the right hand—his heart may well have stopped altogether.

Even so, both David and Rakuro were sent flying by the Kirin's sheer power.

They slammed into the building behind them, crashing straight through the wall and shattering the entire structure.

The Kirin, seeing its attack connect, showed no signs of calming down.

It no longer cared about the scraps of meat or salvageable parts on these bipeds—it was fixated on the one who had damaged its sacred horn. That prey had to be annihilated.

But before the Kirin could march toward Rakuro and David, Tanjiro stepped forward alone, brandishing his Long Sword, standing firmly in the Kirin's path. The flame-like mark on his forehead flared to its peak, focusing his life force into a single, radiant burst.

"Kirin! Your opponent is me!!!" Tanjiro shouted. "I won't let you pass!!!"

The Kirin's only response was thunder guided by its horn—and the terrible force of an Elder Dragon's physical might.

Tanjiro relied entirely on his Transparent World, maximizing every advantage he had, pushing his Breathing Techniques to their ultimate limit.

Meanwhile, Shirou had climbed to a vantage point, bow in hand, watching the battle below with uncertainty.

Of the four, he was clearly the weakest in direct combat.

Rakuro's unique instincts had let him wound the Kirin.

David had accumulated years of battlefield experience in the merc world.

Tanjiro had, from a young age, survived countless life-and-death battles—his combat instincts ranked among the best of all Hunters.

But Emiya Shirou… wasn't like them.

Even now, he didn't know what he should do.
