His words hung in silence. The Sleepers looked at Sunny with a hilarious assortment of emotions, ranging from bewilderment to shock. The young man with half crazed green eyes just smiled politely.
After a few seconds, one of Caster's companions finally blinked and said: "Uh… friend, you must not know a lot about the Spell. Caster's results are truly remarkable."
Then, with a furtive glance at the remarkable Caster, he added: "He is a Legacy, after all."
Kieron kept a straight face as he thought: 'Maybe I should pull a prank on Sunny'
Sunny continued, "Are you trying to pull a prank on me? You call this remarkable?!"
The bewilderment in the eyes of these Sleepers was slowly being replaced by hostility.
"Listen, friend. If you don't think that an Ascended Aspect is remarkable, then please share with us your own amazing results! What, pray tell, was your Appraisal?"
Kieron himself was still keeping quiet and smiling. However, his supporters became increasingly agitated.
This was exactly what Sunny wanted to happen. He smiled with utter contempt.
"I would let you know… my Appraisal was, uh, it was "glorious"! Yes, glorious. And the Aspect I acquired was of the Divine rank."
'This is so fucking hilarious, ah shit, I need to keep a straight face. Keep a straight face, keep a straight face.'
"Mind you, I'm not some lofty Legacy. Pfft! I'm from the outskirts. I've never even received combat training. All that training and he only got an "excellent"? What did he do during the Nightmare, pick his nose the whole time?"
Finally, Kieron decided to speak, to mess with Sunny, but decided to keep a gentle face, "Glorious? That is interesting. Would you mind telling us what your achievements in the Nightmare were? Maybe perhaps your mighty aspect too"
Sunny replied: "Sure, no problem! First of all, I killed an… uh… an awakened tyrant."
The mere mention of a tyrant, let alone an awakened one, made a couple of Sleepers smile with ridicule.
Kieron gently asked, "Oh, really? How did you kill it?"
An arrogant look appeared on Sunny's face.
"How? Let me tell you, I didn't even have to lift a finger. I just spat, and it was torn to pieces! And let me tell you, I didn't even use anything related to my aspect for that heh. I can get a useful companion through it… he is probably good at… stuff."
Someone openly laughed.
"This guy is either insane or purposefully messing with us. Listen here, shorty. Have some decency, okay? Who would believe such a lie?"
Kieron glared and the person "Shush".
"I can't answer that, because it's not a lie!"
"Are you really insisting that you had killed an awakened tyrant — a tyrant! — and with a bit of spit no less?"
Sunny knitted his brows.
"That's the truth!"
More laughter followed.
"Crazy bastard!"
"He actually believes in his own crap!"
"Insane, he's insane…"
'How about it, Sunny, did I play along with you properly? Should I finally mess with you? Hmmm? Hmmm?'
"Guys, hey, silence. So, what else did you achieve? Did you maybe kill an awakened swordsman with the flick of a finger too?"
"As a matter of fact, I did. Didn't even have to flick a finger, just lift it. Heh."
"You must be very powerful in that case, you must also have a really tough flaw, right?"
Sunny's eyes widened, panic struck him as he interrupted Kieron not letting him ask the question.
"Yep, it is indeed a very bad flaw. Don't ask me what it is because I… because no one wants to share that obviously!"
Kieron kept dangling around the topic of his flaw, "I wonder what it is. It makes me curious. Can I-"
Sunny cut of Kieron, or caster in his eyes, "Oh, would you look at the time, I have to return now." And soon after, sunny ran away from Kieron, seemingly shaken.
"Wait…"
'Now, don't just leave when the fun started! I'm not satisfied; I barely did any trolling! To think I wasted such an opportunity... Sunny is too cautious. Well, it's a good thing.'
As Sunny was walking away, he heard one of the Sleepers talking to Caster: "Why didn't you put that lunatic in his place? He has belittled you!"
After a short pause, Caster answered. His voice sounded low and mellow. "Poor kid must have lost his mind, it's best not to antagonize such an existence. He doesn't have long to live anyways."
'My ass, dude will become the strongest of mankind in the future. Not long to live? He's a cockroach. He doesn't die even when he is supposed to. But let's just play as the nice guy, doesn't hurt to have a good impression… and it's not like I can reveal the future to refute them.'
"That's really noble of you", one of the sleepers around him replied.
Kieron simply nodded, not giving him a proper reply.
'Nobel, is it? I'm sure the original caster only did it in the novel to keep an impression but I… I… that's exactly why I did that too… hah, do I even have the right to criticize then?'
After the silence settled, not as peace, but as pressure, a stillness that throbbed with unspoken urgency, Kieron went and sat alone, finally ready to think things through. The walls around him, grey and windowless, held the kind of silence that wraps itself around a man's thoughts. Still, his pulse was steady. He needed to organize his thoughts and formulate a plan. His eyes flicked from face to face, reading the room like a battlefield. Trying to look for someone... a changing star.
But before that, I should probably gauge how strong I am… to formulate a plan of course, not because it is cool or anything.
