Chapter 3 - Chapter 3- Runes

Hours passed. A brown haired, handsome young man moved down the corridor with an easy, unbothered gait. Tousled brown hair caught the faint light as he passed, casting shifting shadows across a face too effortlessly handsome to seem deliberate. However, on the inside the young man was excited. Perhaps even 'too' excited.

Oh my god, superhuman strength and abilities, I can't wait to try them. Wait, I should calm down, this is a matter of life and death, I need to be serious. Phew… Phew

A couple of deep breaths later, Kieron calmed down as he continued to the combat class area. After all today was the first combat class.

On the way though, he inspected a memory, the most important one.

Memory: [Hourglass charm].

Memory Rank: Awakened.

Memory Type: Charm.

Memory Description: [A crystal amulet in the form of an hourglass. It comes from an awakened who in search of his dream, lost all his life. The crystal amulet can store time, releasing it at a crucial moment to momentarily give the user more time.]

I see, so I need to store time in this. It seems it automatically does that, perhaps there's a way to do that manually. Unfortunately, I can't do that at the moment. But I wonder though, why is a memory like that only awakened? Perhaps it's a tier 5 or 6 memory. Can't tell since I don't have weaver's fucking blood damn it.

He caught the glint of movement just ahead, a figure with a curtain of long, black hair that shimmered like ink beneath the dim overhead lights. She stood half-turned, lost in thought or purpose, a dark silhouette carved against the corridor's pale hush. Without breaking stride, he shifted in a subtle fluid sidestep and giving them a nod Kieron continued analyzing.

Basically, if I get this right, the time this thing gives is pretty much useless to everyone. But specifically for caster, who will lose a part of his life span every time he uses his aspect, or well I use my aspect, the increase in momentary life span is used instead. Essentially bypassing the flaw. The bad part about this is that if the charm isn't filled with lots of 'time' I can't use the aspect. Ow…

Kieron accidentally ran into a wall. Embarrassed he looked around and saw a short blood girl standing nearby. Her eyes felt empty.

Cassie… Luckily she's blind so she saw nothing, kek.

Not giving her more attention than necessary, Kieron continued walking towards the combat class.

It's unfortunate that I have such limited use of my aspect. Otherwise, this would be one of the better ascended aspects, no? At least I am spoon fed a bypass to an extent.

After a few seconds of silence, Kieron muttered "Runes."

Name: Caster

True Name: -

Rank: Dreamer

Soul Core: Dormant

Soul Fragments: [71/1000]

Memories: [Green Jade Jian], [Hourglass Charm], [Poetic Mantle]

Echoes: -

Attributes: [Below speed]

Aspect: [Lies of Motion]

Aspect Rank: Ascended.

Aspect Description: [Strength lies in speed. The essence of speed is motion. But what is motion if not the false perception of an arbitrary reference?]

Aspect Ability: [Acquired Haste]

Flaw: [Strength is death]

Flaw Description: Lifespan shortens every time aspect is used.

Only one attribute? Uhm…

[Below Speed]: Perception just below speed

I suppose this means increased reaction speed. It is slightly worrying that I only have 1 attribute.

Footsteps echoed down the corridor, neither hurried, nor calm.

Also, isn't that way too many soul fragments to start from? No wonder Caster could defeat Nephis in the combat practice later. Speaking of Nephis, they released information about the fact that she got a true name earlier, it was wild stuff… the uproar was actually immense. She also looks kinda… Gah! what am I thinking again, she's Sunny's meant-to-be.

Kieron wanted to think more, to battle, but he realized something. The memories Caster had, are jumbled. He can barely make sense of most of them. It would be really disadvantageous to go to the dream realm like that.

Hah… I suddenly don't wish to go to combat classes, I really need brush up on wilderness survival. Caster did get education regarding that but, the memories aren't too coherent. If only the courses weren't chosen before I transmigrated. The situation isn't good. But I suppose I can just skip the combat classes and go to wilderness survival and act like I mistakenly chose the wrong course. With Caster's standing, it shouldn't be too hard. Yeah, that's probably for the best.

Kieron heard soft echoes of Professor Julius's voice coming out of a classroom: "…such things! More than that, it's not in my character to badmouth others behind their backs!"

"Excuse me, might I join you professor… and divine aspect user?" Kieron chuckled at his own joke, as he mentions Sunny humorously.

The taunt didn't seem to affect Sunny on the surface much. He was beyond getting mad over little things like that.

Professor Julius excitedly replied, ignoring the ridiculous taunt, "Of course, Mr. Caster of the Han Li clan. I wasn't expecting someone of your standing to come here.

"In any case, young lad's, what other courses are you taking alongside this?"

Sunny seemed to look at Kieron before replying, "None. For the next four weeks, I'll be fully concentrated on Wilderness Survival."

Julius stared at him for a whole minute, an expression of utter astonishment written clearly on his face. Then, slowly, an excited gleam appeared in his eyes. Finally, he grinned.

"Wonderful! This is wonderful! You're such an astute young man! Don't you worry. In four whole weeks, I will make you immortal…

Kieron coughed, getting the attention of both the parties, "I only require slight brush up on wilderness survival. But I am not participating in combat classes. Apart from joint combat spars, I do not plan on taking other courses."

Professor Julius seemed slightly confused but he let it go. "Speaking of which, I didn't receive a notice about you joining wilderness survival."

Here we go.

"Ah well, I forgot to apply for it, it recently came to me that I require a brush up on it. I hope this won't cause for any troubles."

"It's alright, I welcome you here. Let's start with today's class then, shall we?"
