Chapter 54 - Chained Isles

"YES! FINALLY!"

It took him thousands upon thousands of attempts to do that, but in the end... it worked.

Caster was ecstatic.

He hadn't expected to be able to make something like that so soon, but he did. It was barely the first step but he was excited for what's to come.

He wasn't satisfied at all, he was burning with passion to improve upon it. To make a fully functioning memory.

But he knew it wasn't time for that.

He had to stop now, because he had delayed his other objectives for too long.

It was not like he had a choice on that though, Sky Tide just kept delaying it.

Likely because of some reason from the song domain.

Over the past month, the government had been creating a massive propoganda with Caster at the center.

This happened to Nephis in the novel too, but this time... the propoganda was massive.

Since Caster returned from the Forgotten Shore alive, they had much more of an incentive to create the propoganda.

And so, the standing he had gotten was massive.

Although it was a standing that didn't mean anything in the real world.

Still, it meant that he couldn't be shamelessly attacked by the sword domain because of the massive following he was getting.

Exactly what Caster meant to do.

Getting protection from the Song domain as fast as he could, and getting the propoganda out were two key things that Caster planned from the time on the shore.

So, even if Caster is attacked now, it would likely be a much weaker, but sneakier attack. Definitely not one by Saint Tyris herself.

And Caster didn't care who attacks him at the chained isles.

Because by the time someone plans out some sort of attack, he'd be done with the need to be on Chained Isles.

As long as he didn't make too big of a fuss, he'll be safe for the time being.

In any case the weaving session had injured him a lot. And it hurt even worse because he forcefully turned off the fourth wall.

The fourth wall seems to be an ability that constantly changes its size depending on Caster's mood. The bigger the size, the stronger its ability remained.

What happens when he forcefully turns it off is that he, metamorphically, tears the wall down. That tearing down of the wall is what makes it hurt extra. It's also really dangerous, so he can't do it often.

But the good thing is, he can maintaing that state for multiple minutes. Meaning that he had a good amount of control on it.

When he tried to do this the first time, he could barely keep it off for a second or two.

After he stops tearing the wall down, the wall starts to repair itself, turning on again and giving his protection back.

But, it becomes weak for a few moments because of the tearing down, even after full repair.

Caster's body was really battered up right about now, even the lineage attribute he had didn't heal him completely, or at least it was healing him too slowly.

So, he had no choice but to go to a healer at the Jade Palace.

Which is what he did.

After getting healed, his body didn't exactly feel completely healed, like it did after Neph's healing, but it was still pretty good.

He got looks from the elderly healer. Wondering how the guy got so injured. The look on her face was pretty concerning, but he didn't care all that much.

He couldn't be bothered to.

Because he was finally going to go to Chained Isles today!

Sky Tide was finally picking him up.

He went to the gateway, and left the dream realm for the first time in a while.

Walking out from his sleeping pod, he summoned the [Ashveil Tunic] and walked out of the luxurious room.

He was at his Clan's residence.

He was about to be picked up, but still, he needed to wait a bit.

So in the time being, he simply rested.

Or not.

He didn't have any time to waste.

He activated his second wall and connected to both Sunny and Neph's minds.

"Hey! Sorry to disturb, Sunny and Nephis. Hopefull I didn't... inturrupt you guys. Don't worry, even if I did, I can't see anything, you you guys are safe!"

After saying that Caster chuckled outloud, a chuckled the two couldn't hear of course.

After a few seconds Sunny replied in a flusterred tone.

"Cough... Uhh you didn't inturrupt anything! Nothing! So what is it that you want?"

Caster was startled, slightly.

'Wait, did I actually inturrupt something? No way they have progressed so far already. Yeah, knowing them, Sunny is just really bad at not creating missunderstandings.'

"Basically, I have something to say to the two of you. You guys are at the Chained Isles right? Well, I'm coming there too, but basically there's a massive threat on the island of Reckoning. I want the two of you to not go there. I also don't want the two of you to inform anything about this to the White Feather Clan."

After a few seconds Sunny responded again, it seems he's still not used to replying back fast enough through this method.

"I see, but why? If there's a threat, just tell about it to the-"

Interrupting him, Caster interjected.

"You know I have a reason for that. Are you just saying that to annoy me? If you mus know, the threat there is something I want to deal with. Personally. Just stay away from the Island of Reckoning. And if you have a reason for which you must go through it, wait for me."

Sunny replied again, this time faster. His tone was rather humourous, despite there being nothing that's funny.

"Okay, okay. I'll listen. And so will Nephis. Probably. Anyways, when are you getting here?"

"Probably today."

Another short pause.

"How did you even manage that after entering the Song Clan?"

"I have't officially joined it yet. I'm just a guess on paper for now. And it's not like the Song and Sword Do-... Ehem, clans I mean! Clans! Basically, they are not complete enemies, so Moon was able to arrange something for me. If she couldn't, then I'd have flown on Kai's back if I needed to to get to Chained Isles."

Caster couldn't see what Sunny looked like during this conversation, but he believed he could guess his expressions at every moment.

"In any case, I guess I'll stop disturbing your 'date' with Changing Star, Heir of Death."

Sunny didn't reply to that calmly. His tone was both flustred, and rather pleased.

Both Sunny and Neph could hear that, so it was bound to create some situation for them.

"Oh just shut up!"

Chuckling, Caster stopped conversing, giving the couple a peace of mind from Caster's snarky teases.

'Heir of Death.'

That nickname stayed in Caster's mind.

It wasn't Sunny's true name obviously. It was just something Sunny created on his own. The reason was simple, Caster practically forced him to perform really well on the godforsaken shore.

So when they escaped it and the others got a nickname, it would have ended up being really weird if he didn't end up with a true name.

So, on the spot, he created one for himself.

Of course he couldn't lie about that, so he simply said it before the other could ask about his actual true name.

Sunny had once again sucessfully decieved everyone.

Everyone, including the close friends of his, with the exception of Caster, believed that was his true name.

It would definitely get risky for Sunny, but he's clever. So he should be able to handle it.

The only thing he wouldn't be able to handle would be Mordret.

And that's why it was his first task on Chained Isles.

To get rid of the Mirror Beast and the mirror shard it leaves behind.

Shatter it. Destroy it.

Without it, Mordret should have no chance at escaping the Night Temple. For as long as the night temple exists.

Or Caster could...

Unleash Mordret.

It was in his hands.

***

It has been a week since Caster finally got anchored to the sanctuary of Noctis at Chained Isles.

Really long week for him.

He had to deal with Saint Tyris for a bunch of questions, then he had to immediately venture out to the Island of Reckoning to deal with mirror beast.

He had to deal with a ton of nightmare creatures a long the way. He also had to develop a sense for crushing. Which was really, really hard to do.

Chained Isles is a dangerous place.

Had he not studied about Chained Isles deeply, it would have taken him much longer to even leave for the Island of Reckoning.

And even though he did study, it was just studying.

It didn't exactly provide practical knowledge, nor did it provide a sense of direction at the Chained Isles.

He still needed to figure things out.

Hence why it was taking him so long to reach the Island of Reckoning.

Caster had been preparing for Mirror Beast for a while.

He knew that the Mirror Beast would be able to copy everything he has and maintain the might of a Fallen Devil.

However, Caster himself was a Titan. So the physical difference was not much.

And he had a Sacred memory of the seventh tier, which Caster believed to be too high level for the Mirror Beast to copy.

So in the end, Caster knew that this fight, while probably not easy, wouldn't be too hard.

As long as nothing out of the ordinary happens.
