Chapter 80 - Threads

A dozen wolves.

All of them black with fiery unnatural eyes. Larger than life, with visibly protruding canines. Fur whispy as smoke and powerful limbs light and curled tight over the ground. Saliva dribbled from their wide maws.

She knew they couldn't be real. Not looking like that…demons from the pits of hell. Fear ceased her, locked all her nerves and threw away the keys.

They didn't attack.

They only glared and growled. Snarling often to prove a point she didn't understand. As if they wanted her to…well, she didn't speak wolf language but it felt as if they wanted her to…

"You want me to go somewhere?" Her voice quivered but didn't waver. She was glad to be beyond that now.

The closest wolf snarled and she jumped. Its long nozzle jolted towards her left, prompting her on.

"Right. I'm going. Just…maybe don't come any closer?"

They fell into steps behind her, herding her with snarls and growls deeper into the meadow.
