Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Han Yue

  Chapter 22: Han Yue

  The next morning.

A beam of sunlight streamed into the room from the window, casting a shadow on the face of the sleeping Xiao Ling.

Frowning, Xiao Ling drowsily woke from his slumber.

Stretching and yawning, he muttered to himself, "I haven't slept this well in ages."

Gazing at the sunlight outside, Xiao Ling rolled out of bed and began to wash up.

"Xun'er should still be asleep at this hour. She never practices at night. I'll study alchemy for a while, then go find her."

  "Ding-ling-ling, ding-ling-ling."

Xiao Ling, reading "Secrets the Alchemist Must Tell" at his desk, heard the ringing of the bell in his room. The bells were a pair, able to sense each other's presence: one in Xiao Ling's room, the other at the courtyard gate. Puzzled, he muttered, "Who's looking for me so early this morning? Could Xun'er have known I was back?"

Putting the books back on the shelf, Xiao Ling headed out the door.

Opening the courtyard door and looking outside, he saw a young woman in a purple gown. She was tall and slender, with a face that was a rare beauty, skin as white as snow, and features as beautiful as a painting. Most surprising of all, her waist-length hair was a rare silver. Combined with her purple dress, she exuded a cold, aloof aura, a feeling that one should admire from afar, not touch. Especially those arms and legs wrapped in black silk stockings, even Xiao Ling, who had experienced the baptism of various photo-edited beauties in his previous life, couldn't help but take a second look.

Just as Xiao Ling was about to recover, a gentle, melodious voice reached his ears. "Good morning, Junior Brother Xiao Ling. I heard you practice instead of sleep every day, so I hope I didn't disturb you by coming to see you so early today."

Xiao Ling snapped back to his senses. Looking at Han Yue, who was half a head taller than him, he immediately replied, "I didn't disturb you. It's been a week since I last saw you, Senior Sister Han Yue. We can chat a little longer today." Then, pointing to the pavilion in the courtyard, he walked up first.

Seeing this, Han Yue said nothing more. Twisting her charming figure, she followed Xiao Ling towards the pavilion.

After they both took their seats, Xiao Ling took out two sets of tea sets and poured each a cup of fragrant tea.

Glancing at Han Yue in purple, Xiao Ling couldn't help but mutter in his heart: "Xu Gao is right, purple is really charming."

After taking a sip of hot tea, Xiao Ling took the lead and said, "Senior Han Yue, is there anything you need my help with? If it is something I can do, I will do my best to complete it."

Han Yue on the opposite side did not hesitate too much and said, "I came to you today to ask you to help refine two Purple Heart Barrier Breaking Pills, and by the way, discuss with you some cultivation experience. Although you have not been exposed to cultivation for as long as I have, you are extremely talented and often have some different understandings of cultivation, which may be of some benefit to my cultivation. I will also share my cultivation experience over the years with you, so that we can make progress together."

Touching his chin, Xiao Ling After a moment's thought, "Han Yue is from Zhongzhou, after all. I can ask her about Zhongzhou's situation. Then I can get a better understanding of Zhongzhou. I can't be completely ignorant of the forces described in the original novel."

With an idea in mind, Xiao Ling smiled gently and said to Han Yue, "I'm already a fourth-grade alchemist now. Refining this kind of elixir is a piece of cake for me. It's no problem to exchange some cultivation experiences. You've been practicing longer than me, so it wouldn't be bad to teach me some of your experience."

Upon hearing this, Han Yue smiled faintly and said to Xiao Ling, "Then I'll trouble you, junior, to help me refine the elixir. I've already prepared six medicinal ingredients. I'll see if I have any money on me for the reward."

Xiao Ling shook his head and said, "As for the reward, after I finish refining the elixir, Senior Sister Han Yue, please tell me a little about Zhongzhou. I'll definitely visit Zhongzhou someday."

Han Yue nodded and replied, "That's no problem. I'll tell you everything I know later. However, my family isn't a powerful force in Zhongzhou, so I probably don't know much."

Then, she pulled dozens of jade boxes from her ring, containing the ingredients for refining the Purple Heart Barrier Breaking Pill, and handed them to Xiao Ling.

Taking the herbs, Xiao Ling waved his hand nonchalantly, saying, "A little common sense is enough. Ultimately, you have to see for yourself. Watch me refine the elixir for you first."

"Then it's up to you, junior brother," Han Yue replied.

Finding an open lawn, Xiao Ling retrieved a four-vessel medicine cauldron from the Twenty-Four Bridges Moonlit Night, filled it with beast fire, sat down on the ground, cleared his mind, and began to refine the elixir.

Han Yue, sitting nearby in the pavilion, watched Xiao Ling's movements with interest.

Above the lush lawn, blue-pink flames flickered through the greenery, transforming the once cool forest into an intense heat.

Xiao Ling calmly observed the rapidly rising beast fire within the medicine cauldron. With a wave of his hand, the herbs on the ground slowly levitated and dropped directly into the cauldron.

Once inside, the flames devoured the herbs, and in an instant, they withered rapidly.

As they withered, dense, tiny droplets seeped from their surfaces, sliding down and hovering above the flames, tumbling and swirling. By the time

the herbs had completely reduced to a withered gray, their pure medicinal power had been completely drained by the flames, leaving them reduced to a pile of useless waste.

Xiao Ling used his soul power to throw the withered herbs out of the medicine cauldron, and finally they fell on the grass beside him. The moment they hit the ground, they turned into a pile of gray ashes, which were scattered by the wind.

Han Yue in the pavilion turned her eyes to Xiao Ling, and saw that he handled the herbs one by one with skillful movements. His clear blue-gold pupils were clear and his long blue-silver hair was draped over his shoulders, but it did not give people a sense of disobedience. His slightly immature face was calm, giving people a sense of confidence that everything was under control.

Recalling the way Xiao Ling inadvertently peeked at her just now, Han Yue's pretty face flushed, and she felt an inexplicable sense of pleasure in her heart. She shook her head and stopped thinking about it, and continued to look in the direction of Xiao Ling.

But she didn't even notice that at this moment, there was a hint of tenderness in her eyes.
