Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: Entering the Library

Chapter 27 Twenty-seven Entering the Library

In the spacious and bright room, bookshelves are crisscrossed, filled with all kinds of ancient books, giving it a particularly scholarly atmosphere.

In front of a wide desk stood five figures, the top five of this inner courtyard selection competition. Xiao Ling, Lin Xiuya, Liu Qing, Han Yue, Lin Yan.

"Yes, you are all the most talented students in my outer courtyard, but remember that the inner courtyard is different from the outer courtyard. Those who can enter the inner courtyard are geniuses like you. And in the inner courtyard, strength is respected. Whoever has the strongest fist will get the best training conditions. Therefore, students who enter the inner courtyard will generally stick together. If they don't stick together, the consequences will not be very good!" Hu Qian looked at the five people in front of him and said solemnly.

"Don't worry, Vice Dean Hu Qian, a few of us have already planned to establish our own power in the inner courtyard. We will definitely not be bullied then." Lin Xiuya on the side said at the right time.

Hearing this, Hu Qian nodded and said kindly, "You are all rare talents in Canaan Academy. Once you arrive in the Inner Court, you will surely be able to take care of yourselves. Before long, your faction will surely become the Inner Court's foremost."

Without further ado, Hu Qian stood up and said to the crowd, "Follow me, everyone! I'll take you to the library to select treasures."

Then, Hu Qian walked to a black wall and, with a wave of his hand, unleashed an invisible wave. The wall opened, revealing a pitch-black passage.

Hu Qian was the first to enter, followed by Xiao Ling and the others.

Once inside, they discovered that the wall was inlaid with large, luminous pearls. The faint glow, though somewhat hazy, was more than enough for everyone.

After walking through the passage for about half an hour, a glimmer of light finally appeared at the end. Seeing the light, the people in the passage quickened their pace. A moment later, they finally reached the end of the passage and stepped out.

The blinding sunlight streamed down from the sky, causing everyone to close their eyes slightly. After a moment, they slowly opened their eyes and gazed at the scene before them, their faces filled with astonishment.

Before them lay a distinct valley. The steep cliffs stretched upward until they reached the end of the line of sight. Nestled between three cliffs, a vast open space unfolded. Atop this clearing stood a staggeringly large and imposing pavilion.

Their gazes slowly scanned the vast, ancient building, finally resting on an ancient plaque outside. Three characters, faintly etched with age, loomed on the surface.

  "Library!"

The ancient handwriting, though weathered by time, still captivated Xiao Ling and the others with its quaint, ancient charm. It was truly worthy of being the mysterious library within the outer courtyard of Canaan Academy. The plaque alone confirmed its identity.

Hu Qian led everyone slowly toward the library. When they were about to enter the library within twenty meters, he suddenly stopped, clasped his fists in the direction of the library, and said, "The top five candidates for this year's inner court selection competition have been announced. According to the rules, I have brought them here. Please open the door, elders!"

Hu Qian's words, carried by his Dou Qi, lingered in the valley for a long time.

Shortly after Hu Qian finished speaking, Xiao Ling narrowed his eyes as he gazed at two gray-robed figures who had suddenly appeared at the gate, sitting cross-legged on the ground.

The two gray-robed figures appeared as if they had always been there. This eerie scene made Xiao Ling gasp, and he couldn't help but sigh inwardly, "Dou Zong masters are so terrifying."

These must be the two peak Dou Zong masters from the original novel, who only appeared when Canaan Academy faced a life-or-death crisis. If only one of them had managed to intimidate the ambitious Black Horn Territory forces, the original novel wouldn't have been so messed up.

The two men appeared without a word, even ignoring Hu Qian, their airs of authority unmistakable.

Hu Qian's face showed no sign of dissatisfaction, and the others behind him could only wait patiently.

Silence reigned in the valley for nearly ten minutes before the robes of two gray-robed figures seated cross-legged at the pavilion's gate trembled slightly. Then, beneath their gray robes, two pairs of gazes, as calm as those of old monks, lifted their gazes and scanned Xiao Ling and the others one by one. Their voices were filled with a hint of approval: "Are these the top five from this year's selections? The quality is much higher than in previous years. Not bad."

Hearing his words, Hu Qian breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "These children have done a great job. Please, elders, unlock the space lock."

The two gray-robed elders nodded slightly and waved their hands, sending ripples through the space.

Xiao Ling and the others then gazed at the space half a meter in front of Hu Qian. Looking closely, they could detect a tiny, subtle wrinkle. These wrinkles were hidden in space, making them extremely difficult to detect. Following the faint wrinkles, he suddenly discovered that they formed a nearly complete wall, shielding the entire library.

"This is a spatial lock, a powerful barrier capable of being erected only by Dou Zun masters. This spatial lock was left behind by a senior from the academy hundreds of years ago. Without the special technique of the two elders within, even a Dou Zong master cannot break through. All four of your families have Dou Zong masters, so you're quite knowledgeable and should have heard of this kind of situation. Xiao Ling, this is probably your first time seeing it. Once you reach that realm, you'll likely gain a deeper understanding," Hu Qian explained.

Inside the pavilion, two gray-robed figures slowly extended their withered hands from their sleeves. They then formed hand seals, one finger at a time. As they formed these seals, Xiao Ling and the others could clearly sense two powerful, invisible waves emanating from their palms.

The invisible wave gradually spread, finally coming into contact with the spatial wrinkles. Suddenly, the space before Xiao Ling and the others became like a mirror made of water, rippling continuously. After a moment, the ripples ceased, and a door-like structure was slowly torn open by an invisible hand.

"Let's go." Seeing the spatial door, Hu Qian waved his hand and walked in first. Xiao Ling and the others followed closely behind, stepping into the door.

Once inside, the view suddenly became clear, and the attic before them became increasingly clear. It was clear that everyone had truly entered the space sealed by the spatial lock.
