Chapter 6

Zara

The slap rang in my ears for several minutes.

I didn't know what else to do than to sit as he forced answers out of me. Answers that I didn't know that I had. I didn't want to answer him because I knew deep down that nothing good would ever come from her being him what he wanted from me

"How dare you?"

"No how dare you! If anyone should be offended, I should be the one trying to sleep with the idea of the horror you have brought into my life. You are a monster and you want me to give you what you want?!" I chuckled. "Try again loser!"

He was shocked that I had this many words to say. "What happened on your wedding day was something deeper than you will ever understand."

"All I can understand is that you are a psycho and a sick bastard who gets off from other people's misery. " The more I spoke, the more the colour in his eyes changed colour, and every time I tried to make sense of why he would do this, it was only a matter of time before he killed me like he had killed the rest of my family.

"I am not going to ask you again. Where did you get that necklace from?" He asked me this time a little genuine. I could see how tired he was of chasing me for the answer. He was seeking something I didn't understand. I was trying to make everything about this whole thing make sense.

"You would have to ask my dead parents where they got it from. If you can pull that off, then you can pull anything off." He only got more furious. He was about to hit me again but I stared him deep in the eyes. "Go ahead! You have been hitting me since I got here and I would love to see you try one more time." I could feel the rage in my bones and I didn't understand this rage. Never in my life was I bold enough to confront any dilemma like this before. There was no way, I could have gone through all of this and still have survived if this was previous years. Yet I was still staring at the devil in his face as he abused and tortured me like his life depended on it. Deep down, I was tired of living, and if any of his abuse could knock me out, I knew I was going to appreciate that.

I watched him shamelessly dropping his hands down. "You know what. I am thinking of another approach that might get you talking." I watched him signal the guards, and in no time, I heard the bark of dogs. When he brought them to my face. I could see the horror of an animal it was.

"Hounds!"

He smiled. "Now you are catching up. I can see that I have your undivided attention." He started. The hounds were deeply fierce and I didn't know just how much damage they could cause. I have heard of them, but I haven't exactly seen one, thanks to this monster. "Do you know what happened in the field when you tried to kill me? "

"You are talking like you never had it coming. You killed everyone I love, all in the name of revenge. I do not even know what the fucking revenge is about. If I should go back and do it again, I would." He sighed at the hounds and they moved slowly towards where I was strapped to the chair. They walked a certain distance and sat there waiting for further instructions.

"The next signal I will give them will make them do unimaginable things. I tried to maintain eye contact between the hounds and Xavier. "Since you have taken it upon yourself to be rude to me. I am going to jog your memory. You tried to kill me, and despite being my mate, I tried to return the favour. As the generous creature that I am, it backfired. It made me see things and jogged certain memory about you I didn't think existed even when I had just met you for the fucking first time. So tell me, because you are the one wearing the fucking necklace, maybe you would have an idea of what was exactly going on because I am lost. Not to talk of you is very annoying, and if care is not taken, I am going to snap your neck without thinking twice."

I broke down.."I just had the necklace one day and I haven't been able to remove it since. I woke up and it was hanging on my neck. I do not know if they were protecting me or trying to harm you." I stopped. I knew I had said too much but I just wanted to get through this phase. Seeing his face sent some kind of charge through my body, and I didn't like it. It annoyed me.

"Protecting. I think I would go with that." He stared at me with this great care, something I never thought I would see in him. Then he switches back. He didn't seem to be satisfied with the answer.

He signalled the guard. "Throw her in the dungeon."

I was shocked as they manhandled me into the dark dungeon. As soon. As I got there, the guy I had met there, was no longer there. The fear in my heart was only greater seeing that there was absolutely nothing I could do to stop this monster from being who he was. If he must have killed him, I knew it was only a matter of time before he ordered my execution.

I broke down in tears. Wondering what I might have done to warrant such cruelty towards me. In no time the guards rushed him through a plate of broth into the cell with me. I saw how nasty it was. I stopped him.

"Go and feed that monster his food. I am not interested."
