Chapter 192
Yuta had already dealt with Baraggan.
Tia Harribel was trapped within a barrier, her body bound by chains that left her unable to move.
As for Starrk, he showed little interest in fighting at all, remaining his usual lazy self.
The only true action left was between Yuta and Lilynette.
Calling it a fight was inaccurate-in truth, it was more like play.
Lilynette struggled to lift her sword, but before she could bring it up, it was pulled away and floated into Yuta's hand.
"Bakayarō! Give me back my sword!" Lilynette snapped.
"If you can take it back, I'll give it to you," Yuta replied calmly as he released her bindings. She rushed at him repeatedly, failing each time, but she never stopped charging.
Yuta sat on the ground leisurely, his eyes drifting toward Aizen Sōsuke's side of the battlefield. Aizen was systematically dismantling the Visored one by one.
Then, without warning, a blade pierced clean through Aizen's chest from behind. The strike came from Kyōraku Shunsui's sword.
Kyōraku Shunsui's Zanpakutō ability was formidable-Katen Kyōkotsu had the power to turn children's games into reality. Anyone within its spiritual pressure range was forced to play by its rules. The ability of Katen Kyōkotsu relied entirely on the structure of those rules.
For example, "Takaoni"-the game where whoever takes the higher ground is the winner. If Kyōraku secured the higher position, the battle ended in his favor; his Zanpakutō would grant him the power to defeat his opponent with a single strike from above.
In practice, this ability resembled Sui-Fēng's Nigeki Kessatsu. Both techniques allowed for decisive victory without room for counterplay. The difference was that Sui-Fēng's rule was direct-strike the same spot twice-while Kyōraku's games were far more complex and whimsical.
This revealed the true nature of Katen Kyōkotsu: a willful Zanpakutō. Though it possessed immense destructive capacity, it refused to fight directly. It would only lend its power if its games were followed. In fact, should its master fall into disadvantage during a game, Katen Kyōkotsu could even grant the enemy the killing blow.
Kyōraku now relied on the "Kageoni," using shadows to strike from concealment.
"Kyouraku… you…" Aizen looked back at Kyōraku with faint surprise, Shunsui's blade still planted in his body.
"Shadows appear even on ice," Kyōraku explained simply.
At that moment, Hitsugaya Tōshirō followed up and drove his own sword into Aizen's chest.
"As expected, Hitsugaya Tōshirō-you are too young," Aizen's calm voice rang out. "You rush in the moment you see an opening. That is your greatest weakness."
Kira Izuru and others watching couldn't contain their excitement.
"Aizen… Aizen is dead!" one shouted.
"We did it!"
"We actually succeeded!"
But then Hinamori Momo staggered forward unexpectedly.
"Hinamori? Your injuries… are they healed?" someone asked uncertainly.
She gave no reply, stepping forward silently.
From below, Kurosaki Ichigo shouted in alarm, "Wait! What are you doing?"
Hirako Shinji's expression turned serious. "Damn it… when did he switch them?" he muttered under his breath.
"When?" Aizen's calm voice answered as he turned toward them. "That is an amusing question. My ability is complete hypnosis. I can manipulate all five senses at any time."
"That's why I asked you," Hirako pressed. "When did you change it?"
"When did you mistakenly believe that Kyōka Suigetsu was not already in effect?" Aizen said with a faint smile.
Hitsugaya's eyes widened as the illusion broke-his Zanpakutō had not pierced Aizen at all. Instead, it was driven through Hinamori Momo's chest.
Hitsugaya froze in shock, unable to move as the realization struck him. Had he been the one to kill her?
"You all carry far too may flaws," Aizen said softly.
Before anyone could react, blood erupted into the air-Hitsugaya, Hirako, and Kyōraku falling instantly from unseen strikes.
Hitsugaya's Hyōrinmaru shattered in half, and one of his arms was severed clean from his body. He never even understood when Aizen had cut him.
The disparity was absolute, and despair weighed heavily over them all.
Am I truly so far beneath him? Hitsugaya thought bitterly. How can one defeat an enemy like this?
"This wound will not kill you," Aizen said as Hitsugaya fell. "Lie there and watch helplessly as this battle is decided."
Boom!
At that moment, Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni unsheathed his Zanpakutō. Flames roared outward, spreading like a sea of fire to consume everything.
"The Head Captain has finally taken action," someone breathed.
But Aizen's blade had already pierced Yamamoto's chest.
Yamamoto clenched Aizen's sword arm with such force that bone seemed ready to snap.
"Your senses may deceive you," Yamamoto said grimly, "but there is no mistaking the spiritual pressure of the Zanpakutō impaled in my body… Jōkaku Enjō."
Flames erupted like pillars, towering into the sky. The blazing inferno surrounded the battlefield, engulfing Karakura Town in destructive heat.
"You observed quietly until now only to prepare for this moment?" Aizen asked coolly.
"Correct," Yamamoto answered firmly. "I will die here with you if it means ending this evil. That is the resolve the Gotei 13 must uphold."
But at that instant, Wonderweiss Margela intervened. With a single touch to Ryūjin Jakka's flames, the inferno was extinguished, and Yamamoto was struck down.
He looked up in shock. How had his flames vanished so easily?
Above, Aizen stood calmly, unshaken. "Your Ryūjin Jakka is indeed powerful-stronger than my Zanpakutō in raw destructive ability. But this Arrancar was designed solely to counter it. He abandoned language, memory, reason-everything-just to nullify your fire."
"His name is Wonderweiss Margela-the Fire-Sealing Prince."
"You have no options left, Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni."
