Chapter 12 - 012: Barbara’s Theory, Mr. Ken Is a Good Person

Sunlight poured through the French windows, making Barbara's blond hair shine.

Because the food was so spicy, her lips were swollen and her cheeks flushed. Even though she was panting from the heat, her chopsticks never stopped.

"Mmm…"

Savoring the taste burst on her tongue, Barbara kept making little sounds of satisfaction.

So strange.

Even Mondstadt's top chefs couldn't make food half as good as Ken's.

No, not even a tenth as good.

The feeling of being filled with something you love was wonderful.

"Tastes good, right?"

Ken watched Barbara eating eagerly and smiled.

At first, he thought his master chef skill was a bit useless.

But seeing Barbara wolfing down the food, he changed his mind.

Winning over characters with food was clearly the easiest method.

Maybe when the other regions was unlocked, the cooking skill will be even more useful.

"I've never had such delicious food before."

Noticing Ken's gaze, Barbara blushed even more.

Thinking about her foodie behavior just now, she felt unladylike.

But in the face of such amazing food—her favorite flavor—it was impossible to resist.

Coming back to her senses, she quickly relaxed her clenched legs. Because of the spiciness, her white stockings were already a bit damp from sweat.

"Klee's never had food this good either!"

Klee, her mouth full of stir fried chicken, raised her hands excitedly.

In Klee's eyes, Daddy was a genius.

Not only could he predict the future, he could cook—he was the best dad in the world!

"If you like, you can come often." Ken patted Klee's head.

Barbara's eyes lit up. "Really? Let me introduce myself: I'm Barbara, deaconess of the Church of Favonius in Mondstadt!"

Barbara had been wary of Ken when she arrived, but after this meal, she realized she'd been narrow-minded.

Ken wasn't the villain she imagined.

On the contrary, he was easygoing, handsome, tall, and a great cook.

According to Barbara's theory, a man like this couldn't be a bad guy. At least… a bad guy wouldn't be so patient with Klee.

"I'm Ken, Klee's father. As for you, Miss Barbara… I've heard a lot about you."

As the game's early healer, Ken had a good impression of Barbara.

Hearing this, Barbara remembered what Klee had said.

"I heard from Klee that you can predict the future and made a game about Teyvat? Is there anything I can help with?"

After all, she'd eaten his food, so Barbara felt a little embarrassed.

Most importantly—

She was curious about everything on Blue Star. Becoming a shining idol was also connected to Blue Star.

Ms. Alice had guided her because she'd visited Blue Star.

Now that Barbara was here herself—and so easily!—she was endlessly curious.

Like the tall buildings outside and the bustling city, so different from Mondstadt.

If she could visit often, it would be a great experience.

She might even learn Blue Star's medical techniques.

Of course, she'd have to get on Ken's good side for that.

"That's right, the game is called Genshin Impact. Klee will show you later."

"As for helping… It's simple for you. Just help me voice 'Barbara' in the game."

Ken had thought about making videos with Barbara and Klee, but since Genshin wasn't in beta yet, there was no need to promote with videos.

For now, some voice-acting clips would be enough.

Once the game entered beta, they could ramp up promotion—plenty of time for that.

"Wow… I'm in the game too?"

Though Klee had told her, hearing Ken say it in person was still amazing.

Klee put her hands on her hips, chest out: "Of course! Daddy is awesome! Can I show you the game files, Barbara?"

"Sure!" Barbara was full of anticipation, totally forgetting her original purpose.

As Klee explained the basics of this world, Ken went to change clothes.

He needed to take Klee and Barbara to the company for recording, so he couldn't wear loungewear.

While Ken was changing, Barbara had already figured out how to open her own character file.

When she saw the info inside, her jaw dropped.

"Oh my god… he's incredible."

The file documented many of her past experiences.

Some of it Ms. Alice couldn't have told Ken.

So the reason Mr. Ken knew…

"He really can predict the future—and see the past!"

Barbara was so excited, little rainbow stars seemed to sparkle around her.

After she had the basics of using a computer down, she decisively clicked on the file labeled "Venti."
