Chapter 35 - Small Interlude - Urara, record breaker!

June arrived fast.

And Urara campaign was a big success! Hooray!

Nobito Tomone was an average trainer; he had a pair of good umas during his career, but most of them were average like him. Until now, tho, none of his trainees had won a single G1 race, and maybe at some point he stopped really caring about that. The smile on their faces as they try their hardest to achieve their dream... the joy of victory and the bittersweet defeat... he had seen many, many things.

But until today, it was the first time in his entire career he had seen something like this.

'It was me, the one who told Haru to come to the countryside to compete because races are way less intense than in the big cities, she might not have a chance against the big umas who are chasing their dreams with all their might'

And then... at what moment he failed?

'Should we have stayed at Tracen and sought advanced help? How much of this is my own fault? I knew since I saw her that she is not talented, and below average in most of the fields... but still, she has something that makes her unique...'

"Trainer-san!" Urara suddenly entered the dining hall at the hotel we are staying "I'm on the news!"

I could see her radiant smile and felt confused. Then a sudden realization fell upon me. I did my best to smile.

"I haven't seen my phone today... Give me a second."

Maybe something bad had happened? Or something important, and both of them are missing from being in the countryside? But no... at the URA main page, in the eye of the storm, was a picture of a certain filly he knew too well. Haru smiles to the cameras with both arms rising, celebrating her last year.

Shocking news! Haru Urara breaks a record almost impossible to break. She is the filly with the largest number of consecutive defeats in the shortest amount of time!

Nobito felt his blood run cold, and at the same time, cold sweat began to emerge from his pores. It was the first time in his entire career that he had seen something like this. The article wasn't just about the number of Urara defeats, but also about the short span of time between them.

'Hey, come on!? Is not like she is going to lose all the races in her career, right? Why make such a big deal of this?'

"Yay! Trainer, Urara is becoming famous!"

'What kind of fame are you looking for!?' Urara's trainer's eyes almost popped out of his orbits.

The article was clear. Haru Urara lost her debut, and since then, she has been running in races nonstop. Is she trying to mend her debut blunder? Many racing fans find this ridiculous... how is it possible to lose so much? Is she even trying? Those questions start to sound everywhere, giving her notoriety.

But this newfound fame comes with a price... why is she being spoken of so much alongside other big names like Gentildonna, Orfevre, Gold Ship, or Flashy Step? Many critics say she doesn't deserve her fame.

Then again... how can she handle so many races? Her body durability must be insane! How can she be so resilient?

Nobito was startled; he wasn't expecting to get any kind of attention from the media, and even less this kind of attention. Urara seemed so proud of herself tho. He didn't want to... but he summoned his courage and scrolled down to the comments.
