Chapter 1 - I don't wanna work bruh (One Sin and Hundreds of Good Deeds)

"GAHHH DIAMANTE HELP ME!!!"

"Evangeline, the bird won't kill you, just let it peck you a few times, and it'll go away."

"It still hurts! I have 1 Fortitude! IT will definitely ki-oh wait, you're right."

Diamante sighed, exasperated at this new hire. Evangeline was a newbie who got hired today, and his task right now is to train this Timid Newbie into a full-fledged employee who can (CENSORED) faithfully for the company!

Evangeline sat on the floor, knees covered in brown. Hastily standing up, she dusted herself off before picking up her baton on the ground.

"So, when am I gonna get a good suit?"

Damn this woman, cutting off my monologue. "You'll get a He when you reach Lvl 3. Or if the manager is feeling generous, a Teth at Lvl 2. They don't really like giving out Zayins, says 'they're a waste of resources.'" Coughing into his palm, Diamante spoke while he walked towards the lobby, with Evangeline following behind him closely, bouncing around.

So-called Timid Newbie, huh. Glancing behind, he caught sight of her touching anything and everything from shelves, medkits, and vases, to random buttons and levers.

"Stop. Now."

"Yes sir!"

Seeing him take out Hornet (Weapon), she immediately stopped and saluted. Diamante gave a small nod before shouldering Hornet back.

(EGO Weapon Hornet)

Reluctantly, she trailed behind him, but still she wondered about all the new things she got to see. Hopping towards him, she now stood in front of him.

Tilting her head, she put a finger on her chin. "Zayins aren't that difficult to produce, right? We have a surplus of P.E boxes for Wellcheers and One Sin, so why not make them?"

They stopped at the iron door. Diamante moved away from her, scanning his card to the side. "Well, even though we say we have a surplus, technically, no. Other branches lack the necessary means to make their own gear and weapons, so from time to time, we at the Extraction Department send Zayins, Teths, Hes, and sometimes Waws to those branches. They, in turn, send us excess Enkaphalin."

With a loud whoosh, the door opened, revealing a large room filled with pipes, metal gratings, a coffee machine, and screens that looked out over the entire facility. The hums and thumps of various machines overlapped with the clatter and buzz of people coming and going. Tables and chairs lined the walls of the room, with stacks and piles of paper on the gray tabletops. A Kabbalah tree was inscribed on the nearby wall. Various clerks and agents moved around in a hurry. This is the lobby of the Control Team.

(I added more shit and expanded the lobby, cus in the game it felt a bit empty)

"So, your first work of the day is to do Insight work on One sin. Here is the list of procedures to follow for Insight." Picking up a clipboard, he handed it to Evangeline, but she hesitated, slowly grabbing the clipboard.

"B-But what if I get a bad work result? I-I mean, what if I mess up?" Words slurred as she lowered her head, face unreadable.

Diamante looked at her cowering state, gears turning in his head.

"So that's why she got labeled as timid." Muttering under his breath, he sighed.

"Uh, what did you say?"

"Nothing." Pinching his nose, he turned away from her, looking at one of the many screens. "Don't worry about the results, this is purely for training." Stopping for a moment, he looked straight into her eyes. "Besides, I believe in you."

As if.

Blinking rapidly, she quickly stepped back far away from him, hitting a wall.

"Eheh, that's so corny, senior."

"I was trying to cheer you up, but oh well. Wasn't worth the effort." Shrugging it off, he continued. "Hey, did you at least read the work conditions for it?"

"Um, yeah, I did, so I just confess a sin to it? Is a level 1 sin okay?" Moving away from the wall, she stood near a water dispenser.

"It's alright, but it'd be nice if you confessed a level 2 sin to it." Slightly shaking his head, he opened the door leading to its containment.

"Let's go, the manager will be mad if we don't get to work soon." Nodding her head up and down, she walked through the door, with Diamante following, though she kept a nice range of about .5 meters away from him.

"Though One Sin doesn't breach, he does not bode well with liars. If you are in front of him, kneel, or if you are more comfortable standing up, that's fine, but it does produce more energy when you kneel." They arrived at One Sin's room, the hatch looking completely normal to the senior, while to the newbie, it seemed rather intimidating.

"For real?"

"Yeah, like a 5% increase. In any case, though, you got your SP healed up, yeah? Good luck in there." Patting her shoulder, he opened the iron door to the room, revealing a skull with hollow eye sockets, adorned with a crown of thorns on its head and a cross embedded through its middle, floating sluggishly in the center of the room.

(One Sin and Hundreds of Good Deeds)

She gulped on her saliva, muttering under her breath, "How is this a Zayin?" Hearing her, Diamante casually dropped a bomb on her. "Hey, want to know a secret? Almost all the other Zayins can kill, though there are exceptions." He grinned.

"So this is actually one of the safer Abnormalities to work with; the worst thing it did was cause an agent to lose 6 years of their memory, and a 2-hour power outage facility-wide. Well, I'll leave now, and don't lie to it, okay?"

That's still super scary!  She swallowed her words, but even through the fear, she still readied her clipboard.

Remember our company's motto! Face the fear, Build the future!

"Your encouragement this time actually worked, thanks." With a dry laugh, she steadily made her way inside, the hatch slowly closing, with Evangeline looking straight towards the Abnormality.

With the door closed, Diamante's gaze lingered on it, thoughts unspoken. His left hand was in his pockets, with the other holding the sling for Hornet.

A mysterious, dramatic wind tussled his ebony hair, tied up in a high ponytail, with his coat, adorned with a golden sheen on its edges, and a black tie joining.

(EGO Suit Hornet)

Damn, I got aura.

Until it got interrupted by a buzz in his pockets.

Snapping out of it, he picked up his radio, a distorted voice speaking. "Hey, Lieb here. So I'm your new handler after the transfer, yeah? Sooo, Yesod wants to double-check on your info here, in case something's different with the database version, so please go to the Info Department's lobby, please. Lieb, out."

Before he could even speak, the person on the other end quickly cut the channel off, leading Diamante to sigh again.

Scratching his head, he pocketed the radio while heading to a nearby elevator, heading to the Information Department.

"Man, I don't wanna work! He said I should be honest, right!? Well, I am SCARED of you!" Pointing her finger at the floating skull, she screamed.

Not noticing the camera embedded on the roof of the containment facility.

Well, even though she doesn't know it yet, she'll get a lecture from Diamante later on. Let's cheer for her, yay!
