"Your Highness, with respect, many of us believe you acted too quickly against the Moonguard," alpha Veyra said.
Another nodded. "Yes. The king trusted her. We find it hard to believe she will harm her own mate. And there is no proof that she did."
Queen Maravelle's eyes flashed with irritation. She rose from her seat, chin lifted high.
"Proof?" she said sharply. "Weren't you present at the mating ceremony. What other proof do you need."
The alphas fell silent.
"She poisoned the king."
"That cannot be true," one said cautiously.
Alpha Harkan moved forward. "She could have been framed," he said.
Murmurs erupted.
"Something is not right."
"Why would she poison the king?"
"Was the bracelet corrupted by someone else?"
"Who benefits from this?"
At that moment the sovereign walked in. He sat on the throne as the reigning monarch. He will act as the king until the king gets better.
