Chapter 1 - Chapter I: The Incident

During the fall of 2025, a plume of black smoke filled the air, engulfing the city, and in the midst of it all, screams echoed into the night as supernatural forces torched humanity. The cries of children were heard as their parents were taken from them, only to be cut short as they, too, were tormented by this force. There was no hope for anyone or anything that moved or breathed. Agatha couldn't cry or speak, her breath heavy and ragged as she tried to raise the wooden debris that had fallen on her legs.

Her parents had already been taken from her as the flames had burned down their house to the ground, destroying everything they ever owned and could afford; they weren't all too rich, only living life like every other normal family would, but these monsters decided to take away everything she ever cherished, her family and her home.

Pandora was a city known for the safety it offered simple families, but this haven was just a facade, as it held secrets that were too dangerous for humans to know of. The Cyber-Gen organisation, which was said to create robots, worked on other species which were found out by their underground division, and with this discovery, which was hidden in the public eye for years, would be efficient in creating enhanced humans who possessed strengths beyond this world.

But the sky people were something that all jokes and play could not handle, and with the organisation's confidence in their work, it was their downfall. This mistake caused by Cyber-Gen had caused two hundred thousand casualties, with one hundred and twenty-three ending up dead and the rest left scared by the events, physically and mentally.

Eleven years had passed by with a new age, a new cyber-gen and a new set of humans all replacing the fall of 2025. 2035 had begun, and now, technology was the key to human evolution and growth in order to get to everyday life. With a new product called Cyber Level, humans are able to monitor their life-force and bodily functions with just a few green health bars embedded on their skin.

-Energy Pod Analysis-

-Name: Agatha Seamus [223]

-Age: 16

-Height: 5ft, 5inches

-Weight: 64kg

Agatha opened her eyes; the dreams of the horror she had witnessed eleven years ago were still engraved in her every thought, her mind still heavy with the burden she had to carry. Now lying inside a pod, void of every piece of her clothing, she could feel the weight of a thousand radioactive waves pressing down on her darkened skin, but she was immune to these conditions, courtesy of human evolution.

Gazing into the neon-blue lights around her, her once emerald, green eyes that had been altered to an ember light by the doctors who worked on her, no words escaped her mouth as the pod had almost recharged her, and once it was done, she would have to return to the empty solitude she called home. With a few minutes left till she was fully recharged, she was given enough time to think about her life choices before the pod made a hissing sound, meaning her levels were complete.

The pod chimed, making a strange, techy sound with a few letters displayed on the transparent glass that revealed her whole body:

-Energy Level Analysis Complete Welcome back, Agatha Seamus [223]-

The pod opened, enabling Agatha to rise from her back, and as she took in the stuffy apartment room, which was a form of compensation from cyber-gen, the smell of unfinished noodles and unwashed clothing struck her. The girl could only sigh, her face heavy with disappointment, climbing down from the pod, her feet landing on the cold carpets that were stained by the soda she drank just two days ago. It was time for her to continue her life.

Taking the hair net that covered her bushy hair from getting burnt in the pod, due to the radiation, she made her way into the living room, which was left unkept, her clothing, which smelled of smoke from whatever she did last night left scattered on the floor. The television was still left on, and just as she picked up the remote to turn it off, something caught her eye, prompting her to increase the volume.

A news report was being displayed; the Pandora Town Mall had been raided last night by a masked assailant, whom many would call the Cyber-Tyrant. Valuable items were stolen, and the mall was partly burnt. Agatha gazed into the screen, bending down as she looked further into the screen as she was now looking at the image of this assailant, "Holy shit," she muttered under her breath as a smile spread across her face.

The assailant whom the authorities were now looking for was none other than Agatha Seamus herself. Five years after the fall of 2025, she had turned to a life of crime, starting with small, petty theft, stealing credits and cyber-wallets and earning just to survive in the crappy apartment that was given to her by cyber-gen. Though she would've stopped but she didn't plan on doing so, and only death was going to decide that, so she continued for years, now upgrading and stealing from rich people all behind a computer or physically.

Agatha had smiled because she was finally recognized in this crappy world; now she was somebody who mattered, not only to her deceased family but to the authorities. Being hypnotized by the screen, a knock on her door echoed with the sound of cybernetic beeping, the display on the television shifted to black and texts were written on it.

-Stranger Confirmed-

The screen shifted again, and the door cam was displayed, revealing the person who stood at the door. Standing tall was a young man who was probably in his 20s, dressed in a neatly pressed suit and a checkboard in his hand. Agatha groaned, her tone laced with a little panic as she stood up straight, tapping her finger on her wrist, the area where her energy levels were displayed, and just outside the door, a message was displayed.

-Owner Arriving In 2 Minutes-

The man in the suit nodded, rubbing back his hair with the slick texture of his saliva. Whoever this man was and what business he had with the young lady, she wasn't too excited to see him, but that didn't matter to him. Making haste, Agatha trashed the half-eaten noodles and the empty can of sodas in the trash bag, putting away all the dirty clothes she had in the washer.

Panicking, she thought of what to wear as she had run out of things to wear, and with the help of advanced technology, fifteen minutes were all it took for clothing to wash and dry. Left with no options, she adorned herself in the only clean underwear she had in her wardrobe.

The two-minute countdown had elapsed, and the man outside had grown patient. Agatha rushed, opening the door and trying her best to act natural, resting on the door frame, "Why, hello there, handsome?" she said with a flirty smile.

Gazing from head to toe, the man scanned Agatha, though he was human, his demeanour seemed rather robotic, "Miss Seamus," he said, raising an eyebrow as Agatha nodded, answering his call, as though he expected her to know why he was here.

"Oh!" Agatha exclaimed, now realising why he was here, and it was due to the problem that every apartment owner had, "The rent, yes. Why not the day after tomorrow?"

The man nodded in disagreement, "I am afraid I cannot let you off with another debt; you must pay before today ends," he demanded, his tone firm and precise, going straight to the point.

Agatha sighed, "Look, man, I only gat till next tomorrow, my paycheck is coming that day," she argued, still persistent, but of course her lies weren't going through the man. It was quite common for every man to give a girl such as Agatha a chance, seeing how attractive and young she was, adorned in her undergarments, but this man was focused.

"I give you till tonight, you can decide to sell your items, your stay and leave is our business," the man replied, before turning and exiting, leaving a distressed Agatha.

Dragging her hair, the girl boiled, the energy levels that controlled her sanity dropping and temperature rising, "Motherfucker!" she screamed under her breath, her tone heavy but low enough to not be heard. Shutting the door, the young lady rested her back against the metal surface, slowly sitting on the floor, even though she was compensated by this shitty organisation, some hardships had come with it.

When her parents had died from the incident that caused two hundred thousand casualties, she had thought her life was over before giving away to a life of crime; now her life was officially over as the bills were piling up and the credits in her wallet were dropping. She had to think of a way, somehow, maybe hack into another database? Take the risk, maybe?

No, there had to be something. Just then, she could feel a tingle in her head, a sudden beep ringing out, and only she could hear it. Tapping her wrist, a holographic screen was displayed, looming over her hand: it was a message.
