Chapter 8 - Shocking News

After a few more hours of overthinking and making more plans for the house, Gray started messing around with his upgrades. Seeing as he didn't have his computer or electricity, he was passing the time just looking around his system.

"Let's see it's 7:57 pm, in 3 more minutes I'm getting 63 more gold, might as well just look around the upgrades. It's still a long way before I start making some serious gold." Gray muttered absently as he kept scrolling around. He noticed it hit 8 pm.

Race: Human

Gold: 449

Gold Multiplier: 1.00x

"Huh, almost halfway there for the next upgrade," He said while scrolling to his upgrades.

{Gold Multiplier}

(200 Gold) +0.05x

(550 Gold) +0.05x

(1150 Gold) +0.05x

As he scrolled to the bottom, he saw something that made him sit up straight.

{Rebirth} (1000000000 Gold) +0.10x permanent buff and stackable

"Is...Is that my way out of this world? Holy fuck!" Gray shouted accidentally out of excitement, I'm happy now that I know that, but how long would that take me? Isn't that a billion? A billion gold to get out of this place...Can I check if it gives more info? Let me see if focusing on it gives me a bit more.

{Rebirth} (1000000000 Gold) +0.10x permanent buff and stackable (Once bought, the user can pick another world to start another adventure, but fear not, you can keep every system-integrated function, but you get to keep one permanent thing, be it an item, a super power, even a bloodline, but remember only 1.)

"Phew, that's insane..." Gray was left stunned after reading that, but after a few minutes, he started thinking of all the possibilities: Marvel, DC, Arcane, MHA, One Piece, Naruto, just to name a few. Hell, he could try to go back to his old world, but it would probably not be possible; he had nothing left back there anyway, no girlfriend or any friends, a bitter mom, and an alcoholic dad.

Gray also went back to that "Stackable" and wondered, "If it stacked, let's say, after this world, I would get one permanent power or bloodline, and in my next rebirth, does that mean I get to pick another one? I guess we will cross that bridge when we get to it. For now, I gotta focus on surviving this one."

"Alright, next on my list would be to probably secure one door with 2x4's across it horizontally from the inside and outside, double protection for it. Maybe even put plywood on the outside part." While mulling over the next steps for the house, he glanced at useful skills to prioritize once the gold was enough.

{Intermediate Driving} 2000 Gold

{Intermediate Medical Knowledge} 2000 Gold

{Intermediate Survival Skills} 2000 Gold

{Intermediate Marksmanship} 2000 gold

"Huh, seems all normal skills are priced the same." Gray kept looking through a bit more skills but decided those 4 should do for the time being. Maybe if I end up moving from here, I'll need metalworking and carpentry skills, but that's for the future and a huge maybe.

After a few more hours of bouncing ideas off the walls, he finally fell asleep, surprisingly, no banging on doors or any kind of nuisance happened today.

After waking up at 7 AM, sore as usual, Gray looked excitedly at his HUD, looking at his generated gold, a whopping 1142. Opening the upgrades TAB, he got the next upgrade and grinned at it.

Pulling the fire axe out of his inventory, he started making his way downstairs as usual. After seeing that everything was alright, he finally relaxed and went back upstairs.

After getting that out of the way, he started his new morning routine of doing as much exercise as he could. After being done, he got up, went to the bathroom to take a quick shower, and got his day started.

8 am, and it seems that my generated gold gets delivered to me on the dot. I think it's about time I get that first multiplier. It won't be much at the beginning, but once those upgrades start stacking up, I will be making a lot more money in the same amount of time. Let's do it.

"Oh yeah, we deserve something good for breakfast."He said excitedly as he started scrolling down for something to eat.

{Pizza} ( 8 Gold)

{Pepperoni Pizza} (10 Gold)

{Pepperoni Pizza (Food Wars)} (35 Gold)

Isn't Food Wars that ecchi anime where people get naked when they eat food? Well, shieeeeeeeeeeet might as well treat me to something good, after two days of eating canned food, I'm getting tired of it.

Gray could be seen with a face full of food, and his cheeks reddening, "This food is setting me back 37 Gold since I also got a can of Coke, but totally worth it!" After eating 4 slices, he closed the pizza box, put it in his inventory, and got up. "I should probably stop eating that kind of junk food if I wanna improve my body, but once I'm earning more gold, I will start eating healthier, I'll probably stick to a diet, maybe even set up a house gym."

Once back in his room, Gray grabbed the backpack and emptied everything on the bed, and walked out with it. "Time to have a look outside," he said while stepping out the back door with his axe in his hand. Looking over at his clock, he noticed it was 8:35 AM, a perfect time to start patrol around the house.

After walking for a few minutes, he pulled out his small notebook and pen, so it's math time...129 gold an hour, for a 3000 gold upgrade, so I just have to divide 3000by129...leads me to 23 hours and a quarter...if I didn't buy the multiplier, it would be 24 and a half.

"So I saved no time since I get gold on the dot ...What if I buy the next multiplier before the gold upgrade?" So a 10% increase to 123 would be 12.3, and it seems the system rounds it, so no decimal points...ends up being 135.3 minus the .3, so 3000by135 equals 22 hours and some change. "But I would need around 5 hours to buy the next multiplier...yeah, that ain't it, also first multiplier might have been a dud in saving me time, but it is giving me just a bit more gold, so it's fine for now." Gray decided to buy the next gold upgrade instead.

After a couple more hours of looking around and trying to loot for anything useful, Gray made his way back to his house. Once inside, he looked at the time, 12:03 PM. "Damn, spent almost 4 hours outside, no wonder I'm winded." After walking upstairs and straight into the bathroom, Gray went to the sink to wash his face and hair. Once he was done with that, he finally took his shoes off and lay on the bed where sleep soon took him.
