Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Let Me Die, Just Tell Me

When Lin Jiu woke up again, he found himself in a modest room, barely more than a dozen square meters in size. The furnishings were sparse — aside from the bed he lay on, there was nothing else.

A black tattoo in the shape of a sharp sword had appeared on his forearm. Light blue text reappeared in front of his eyes — but this time, it wasn't floating in the air. Instead, it was directly embedded in his vision, remaining unmoving no matter where he looked.

[World Entered: Pokémon World]

[World Difficulty: LV.10 – Purgatory](This difficulty applies to Hunter's Trial)

[World Source: 0%] (World Source can be increased by exploring or interacting with characters in this world. It will be calculated together with mission difficulty during world settlement to determine the final rating.)

[World Introduction:] Pokémon exist in the sky, the sea, atop mountains, in forests, plains, and towns.

[Main Mission: Personally expel the Twin Gods of Space and Time]

[Side Mission: None]

[Warning:] Do not mention anything about Reincarnation Paradise in this world. Failure to comply will result in forced execution!

[Hint:] This world is a special Derivative World. The world coordinate was provided by the Hunter. Rewards will be significantly increased.

[Hint:] As this is the Hunter's first entry into this world, you will automatically master the world's language for 30 natural days.

"If you want me dead, just say it directly. Is it necessary to throw me into this world? What a waste of space-time energy!"

After reading the mission prompt, Lin Jiu's face darkened as he scanned the empty room, looking for something to vent his frustration on.

He took a deep breath, gradually calming down and analyzing his current situation. The Pokémon World might appear child-friendly on the surface, but often these kinds of worlds were the most terrifying — especially due to their absurdly high upper limit. Arceus, the alpaca god with all the Plates, likely possessed Seventh-Tier strength. That meant Dialga and Palkia — the Twin Gods of Space and Time — were probably around Fifth or Sixth Tier strength.

Forget it, he might as well die now!

As Lin Jiu's anger flared, he reminded himself of something important. He wasn't expected to win — he was expected to try. But then he noticed a particular phrase in the mission prompt:

"World coordinate is provided by the Hunter."

He wasn't some high-tier Hunter — just an ordinary guy. So how did he provide a coordinate? The only explanation was that mysterious metal disk that had pulled him into Reincarnation Paradise.

Putting that aside for now, Lin Jiu realized something critical — this world wasn't originally a Derivative World of Reincarnation Paradise. Which meant he was the only visitor here.

That was good news. Very good news.

All Contractors understood why the mortality rate remained so high in Derivative Worlds with a plot — not because of the plot itself, but because of Contractor conflict and plot distortion.

Lin Jiu opened his mission panel. The full mission details materialized:

[Main Mission: Expel the Twin Gods]

Difficulty: LV.10 – Purgatory

Mission Summary: A rift in time and space has appeared above Twinleaf Town. The Twin Gods — Dialga and Palkia — have both descended!

Mission Objective: Expel Dialga and Palkia from the world by any means.

Mission Duration: 30 natural days.

Mission Reward: Hunter identity fully activated. Title awarded: [Pioneer]

This mission was pure madness. In a typical Pokémon world, an ordinary person could live safely in a town. But if he wanted to complete this mission, not only would he have to deal with the Twin Gods, he'd also have to face criminal organizations like Team Galactic.

Those lunatics would kill a normal human without hesitation — especially one who didn't even have a Pokémon.

Right now, Lin Jiu couldn't even beat Ash Ketchum's Pikachu.

He opened his personal info panel:

Contractor No.: 13014 (For protection purposes, this is a false ID. Hunter cannot be tracked.)

Name: Lin Jiu (Hunter)

Level: LV.1 – First Tier (Every 10 levels = 1 Tier. Leveling does not grant attribute bonuses but determines world access, authority, and mission level.)

Health: 100% (Relative scale based on injury; not fully quantifiable)

Mana: 70 (INT × 10. Current mana regen: 3.2/hour)

Strength: 5 (Affects attack power, carrying weight, etc.)

Agility: 5 (Affects movement, reaction, attack speed)

Stamina: 7 (Affects HP, defense, resistance to abnormal effects)

Intelligence: 7 (Affects mana, perception, and spell power)

Charm: 7 (Affects charisma, summoning, negotiations, etc.)

Luck: 1 (Affects loot, crafting, draw rates — extremely hard to increase. Treasure it.)

Note: Standard attributes for an adult male = 5 points (Luck remains at 1).

Reforged Talent: [Soul Condensation] – Gain a small amount of Soul Power from each defeated opponent. (Effect stacks. World-specific cap applies.)

[Reminder: Personal stats are for reference only. They influence physical and spiritual performance but do not determine combat outcomes. Hunter, please proceed with caution.]

The high Stamina was likely a result of his years doing part-time physical labor. As for Intelligence, Lin Jiu suspected it was boosted due to his Soul Condensation talent.

Something else bugged him: the word "Reforged" and the character "Condensation" both looked… smeared, blurred, almost corrupted.

More mysteries to figure out if he returned alive.

"If my only advantage in this trial is being the first to enter a New World… then the bonus rewards are my only shot. I have to go all in!"

His eyes flashed with resolve. He could've given up the assessment and become a standard Contractor instead, but he hadn't endured so much just to fold now.

He left the room and passed a few scattered houses. A forest lay just ahead.

"You're finally awake!"

A boy, no more than 10 years old and barely 1.5 meters tall, ran toward him excitedly.

"Hello? What's going on here? How did I end up here?" Lin Jiu asked, feigning confusion.

"My name's Xiaofeng. My friends and I found you unconscious near the forest. We brought you back," the boy said, scratching his head sheepishly.

"Thanks." Lin Jiu smiled, touched by the innocence. Even the boy's name felt very Pokémon-like.

"Big bro, were you exploring the forest? Are you… a legendary Trainer?"

Lin Jiu chuckled and ruffled the boy's hair. "Sorry to disappoint. I'm just a wandering traveler, not a Pokémon Trainer."

After freeloading a meal at Xiaofeng's home, Lin Jiu used a mix of indirect questions and observation to get his bearings. He was in a small village near Twinleaf Town. The Lily of the Valley Conference was currently being prepped, and trainers were flocking to Sinnoh to challenge gyms.

But Lin Jiu couldn't stay. He had no time.

After resting and gathering some basic supplies — bandages, potions — he stepped into the forest.

"So damn hard to fight…" Lin Jiu muttered, holding a thick wooden stick and facing down a red, arm-length worm.

A Wurmple.

With no practice, Lin Jiu could only swing wildly. His basic downward strike hit the bug-type Pokémon, shaving a small chunk off its health bar.

Wurmple hissed in anger and countered, ramming its horn into Lin Jiu's stick. The wood snapped. Lin Jiu staggered backward — but Wurmple recoiled in pain, rolling on the ground.

Gripping the broken stick in one hand and a stone in the other, Lin Jiu saw Wurmple coil its body into a "C" shape — a defensive posture.

He lightly swung his stick to test his grip. The poisonous stinger on Wurmple's tail could be fatal. One sting, and if no one passed by… game over.

Being the first transmigrator in a virgin world sucked. No identity. No Pokéball. No money. No combat training.

And this bug had a base stat total under 200.

The sharp stinger reflected sunlight. Thankfully, no poison-type energy had gathered — it hadn't learned Poison Sting yet. But the natural venom was still deadly.

Enraged, Wurmple lunged.

Lin Jiu dodged nimbly. As the bug shot past him, he stepped in and struck its soft underbelly with the broken stick.

"Hiss~!"

Wurmple dropped to the ground. Before it could recover, Lin Jiu stomped on its tail, pinning the stinger, and smashed the rock into its head.

Thud!

Seeing it faint, Lin Jiu finally relaxed. That talent — [Soul Condensation] — had activated. He felt a strange clarity in his mind.

Looking at the unconscious Wurmple, regret flashed in his eyes… but he still raised the stone.

He crushed it.

Bug-types matured fast. With a Pokéball, he might've tamed it. But he had nothing. No choice.

The moment he finished the kill:

[Hint: You have killed Wurmple.]

[World Source +1% (Bonus applied).]

[Talent: Soul Condensation has activated. Permanent Soul Power increase obtained. (Current Soul Power not yet visible.)]

[Treasure Chest Obtained: Green – Reward Increased.]

[First Kill Detected: Storage Space unlocked (2 m²). Can be expanded using Paradise Coins after returning to Reincarnation Paradise.]
