"The female lead role."
The words, spoken with an icy coolness, hung in the air between us, heavy and full of condescending arrogance. Anne, a woman with perfectly manicured fingers that seemed to brush away any hint of genuine emotion, looked every bit the part of the entitled society lady she was attempting to portray. By her side, Lora was a sycophantic shadow, her face contorted into a posture of admiration that was both pathetic and nauseating.
I shifted my gaze to Lora, catching the moment her mouth fell open in a silent gasp. The surprise in her eyes was genuine, a fleeting moment of clarity that confirmed my suspicion: she was not fully aware of the true purpose of this visit.
Leaning forward, a new and dangerous curiosity taking hold, I silently granted them permission to continue their self-serving performance. I wanted to see just how low they were willing to stoop.
