Athena let the pill sit on her tongue just long enough for him to see it. Then, with a teasing smile, she tilted her head back as though swallowing… though she never did.
The bitter tang of blood touched her taste buds, sharp and metallic, making her eyes water.
Jacob seemed pleased.
He turned to Kraven, smirking. "You've got quite the adventurous mistress. Keep her entertained, won't you?"
Kraven's glare was unreadable beneath the mask. His hand gripped Athena's thigh possessively under the table. "Always."
Jacob chuckled, clearly satisfied. "Excellent. I'll have Leah bring you the next round of pleasures soon."
He gestured for Leah to follow him, and she did… silently, head lowered, her wrist still faintly bleeding.
As they disappeared into the crowd, Kraven exhaled slowly, forcing down the fury clawing inside him. He turned his head toward Athena… his voice became low but dangerous, vibrating with barely restrained anger.
"What the hell were you thinking?"
